i want to create a group xyz and add some users to xyz group and want to grant/revoke permissions to xyz. So that all the users present in that group will have the same permissions as of the xyz group. so that instead of giving the permissions to users individually i can give it at a time.

when 14th is being inserted, the previous rate of 16th will be the current rate of 14th i.e 7.4 and if after 14th is being inserted, 15th is being inserted, then the previous rate of 16th should be updated as per the current rate of 15 say 8.5.

I am trying to create trigger through Procedure due to following reasons-
1. The name of the column on which trigger will execute, is to be fetched dynamically.
2. The name of the column to be updated, is to be fetched dynamically.
Here is the sample code-

On execution, the procedure throws the error of 'Insufficient privileges'. The 'var' seems to be the main culprit because the issue disappears if var is set to 'select * from dual'. Also, if i take the output (value of var) given by DBMS_output.put_line function and execute it explicitly, trigger gets created.
In addition- The procedure is (and being executed) within the same user/schema under which trigger is going to be created.
I have a table tblcustomer and a view called vworder. I need to create a trigger such that any data being added into vworder first checks if the field customerid has the data in customerid of tblcustomer.. all it has to do is spit out a error "Customer ID not found"
So I created a view such as

I've been assigned a task at work that consists of creating a trigger on a table. This table is used to store temporary query results. I'm trying to make a trigger to clean the table so old results don't accumulate.
There is a column named DATE_UPDATED that stores an Oracle Date for when the row was inserted/updated. If the row is not updated in 12 hours, I want to delete it.
Here is what I have so far.

As you can see, I don't have an actual function body yet. What would be the best way to accomplish this? Should I declare a variable to store the current Date+12 hours and then just compare that in a delete statement?
I'm thinking something like:

Jack user has sysdba privilege. My question is 'sysdba' is a super and special user which has all the privileges in database. Then why does it need SELECT privilege on v$session to user to create the trigger?

I created 3 radio buttons and one list item. Different options will appear according to the radio button the user has clicked on. i've created 3 recordgroups and 3 LOV. the first two for seven_eleven and mannings work fine, but not for GNC. is it because there is only one option for list item in GNC? Must it be more than one? I've tried to another option as space but it still doesnt work.

I'm having a problem with the When-timer-Expired trigger.I am creating a timer on the On-Error trigger of the block. in the when-timer-expired :

If i run the program program for the first time,message 11 doesn't show thus it doesn't fire the when-timer-expired trigger. But if i logout from application server and enter all over again,the when-timer-expired works !
1) Why we need to do Compute Statistic on index.
2) Is it only for optimizer to make a better plan?
3) If yes, which means, optimizer will not able to collect statistic by itself?
4) if I'm not collect statistic, then optimizer will do it or skip.
I'm a student researching SQL, Oracle queries. I'm currently writing a oracle:JDBC to query by id, then receive all tuples that belong to id and compute GPA. I convert letter-grade to # in query how to count rows pertaining to id, then average GPA of all tuples. I understand Count(*) where sid=?, but i need to count the rows for id, then convert letter to number, finally compute gpa for all pertaining tuples belonging to id.

Within each DeptID group I need to calculate absolute change of 'Count' column between previous and current months and compare change value with threshold.
If ratio >= threshold N number of times I need to make a note of that event. Threshold = 0.1 N = 2 - alert needs to exceed threshold two consequtive times
Here is data processing algorithm:
1. Calculate change between month 2010-04 and 2010-05: abs((1134/1392 - 1))= 0.18;
2. check change value against threshold: 0.18 > 0.1
3. Threshold was exceeded, set alert_fired_cnt counter to = 1
4. Once alert fired it creates a baseline for comparison - I need to use Count from month 2010-04: We're now in month 2010-06: abs(1094 / 1392 - 1)=0.21
5. check change value against threshold: 0.21 > 0.1
6. Threshold was exceeded, increment alert_fired_cnt counter by 1 = 2
7. At this point alert exceede threshold two times, I need to set a alert_triggered flag = 1 and reset alert_fired_cnt = 0 for further calculations
8. We're in montn 2010-07: abs(1333/1294-1)=0.03
8. check change value against threshold: 0.03 < 0.1
9. Since threshold was not exceeded, keep alert_fired_cnt counter to = 0
Above algorithm needs to be run for all DeptID groups.
I load above data into an associative array and loop through elements. I am having trouble keeping computations within each DeptID group.

I load a table through sql loader which takes nearly 14 min for 8-9 millions records, once the records complete i run the analyze table compute statics to gather stats and it takes nearly 15 min. is there any ways so that i can reduce the stats timing. the stats collection command runs from other schema not from where the table is residing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a new implementation which will be using ASM with RAID. The data area needs to be 3TB, and the recovery area, to be used for archive logs and RMAN backups, needs to be 1TB.
The configuration i'm thinking about now is:
+DATA diskgroup: 5*600G disks, using RAID 1+0 (this will include control files)
+FRA diskgroup: 2*500G disks, using RAID 1
+LOG diskgroup: 2*1G disks, using RAID 1 (this is only for redo logs)
So here are my questions:
1. Am I right in supposing that we would get the best performance on the +FRA and +LOG diskgroups by not using RAID 1+0?
2. It has already been agreed to use RAID 1+0 for the +DATA diskgroup, but I can't see the added benefit of this. ASM will already stripe the data, so surely RAID 0 will just stripe it again (i.e double striping the data). Would it not be the better just to mirror the data at a hardware level?

I am able to assign a user to a user group using the User Admin in Apex.I don't know how I would be able to assign a role (that I know how to define that for an individual user).The only thing I can see is a name for User Group and a Description! My requirement is to define a group of people to be assigned to one group/role, so that every change to that role can be automatically be applied to each user in that group
