Having trouble creating a trigger to populate another table.
The SQL:
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER "P_M_YES"
AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE ON DOMAIN
REFERENCING NEW AS NEW.P_M AND OLD AS OLD.P_M
FOR EACH ROW
WHEN (NEW.P_M = YES)
BEGIN
INSERT INTO PAGE_MAKER VALUES(:NEW.D_NAME, :NEW.USER_ID);
END P_M_YES;
I would like to create a trigger on a table which populates a log table. In addition to using the table where the trigger will exist, I would like to populate a couple more fields in the log table with with data from 2 other tables.
e.g.
NAME_TABLE -reg_id -name
ADDRESS_TABLE *trigger to be fired when a new record is created here. -reg_id -srv_id
PROCESS_TABLE -srv_id -start_time -end_time
This is what I would like the logging table to look like:
When i try to create a trigger , i ended up with error.
SQL> create or replace 2 TRIGGER LOGON_TRG AFTER LOGON ON DATABASE 3 BEGIN 4 INSERT 5 INTO 6 user_audit_log 7 SELECT 8 user#,
[code]....
Warning: Trigger created with compilation errors.
SQL> SQL> show error Errors for TRIGGER LOGON_TRG: LINE/COL ERROR -------- ----------------------------------------------------------- 2/5 PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored 17/17 PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
The command used to resolve the error is
GRANT SELECT ON v_$session TO jack;
Jack user has sysdba privilege. My question is 'sysdba' is a super and special user which has all the privileges in database. Then why does it need SELECT privilege on v$session to user to create the trigger?
I know this is an old thread and I just started working with triggers. I want to check if the data being inserted is already in the table and if not insert it:
create or replace trigger t_triggername before insert on tbl_tablename for each row begin if(:new.user_id <> :old.user_id) then insert into tbl_tablename(user_id, location) values (:new.user_id, :new.location); end if; end;
what if I wanted to keep the user but only update location if the user is already in the table. I've tried doing it this way:
create or replace trigger t_triggername before insert on tbl_tablename for each row begin if(:new.user_id <> :old.user_id) then insert into tbl_tablename(user_id, location)
i need a trigger with alter commands to alter the table structure,it will be captured in a separate meta data table(META)
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER meta_alter AFTER Alter ON SCHEMA BEGIN update meta set column_name=:new where table_name=ora_dict_obj_name column_name=:old; END; /
Meta table contains Table name and column name..i attached the table data in atext file
1. It should always start with 401 (I can handle that with Oracle check constraint that mypo should be > 401) 2. For each Id, the first insert has to be 401, then it should add one from there within the Id
(something like, mypo is a sequence within the ID.)
I am trying to populate mypo inside the trigger in this way:
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER trigTBL_LTEST BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE ON TBL_LTEST REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
On a form I have 2 blocks, shown on different tabs. Relation created by forms wizard. The relation works great when navigating through the blocks, the details for the master are shown fine.
Example for this form is master block is a type of food. Detail block is list of ingredients.When creating a new type of food, if it's = CAKE we insert records based on a select on another table into the ingredients table.Else, the user has to manually create the ingredients.
Upon commit of the form on master block (must be saved to enable detail block tab), the ingredients are not displayed but are there. If I execute query by hitting F8, the records are present.
Why is the populate-details trigger not being fired or what am I missing?
the index_id and time_vertex_id will be unique and when the date is 17th i.e the first date will be inserted the current rate will be 4.7 and the previous rate will be blank and when another date is inserted i.e 16th the previous rate of 17th will be the current rate of 16th i.e 6.4.
when 14th is being inserted, the previous rate of 16th will be the current rate of 14th i.e 7.4 and if after 14th is being inserted, 15th is being inserted, then the previous rate of 16th should be updated as per the current rate of 15 say 8.5.
This is the first time the table is getting loaded. I get the distinct emp name from table 'X' and insert into teh sales person table to list out all teh emp present in the company and give the corresponding details.
I am not sure how to write a proc to populate the whole table. emp id is sequence generated.
begin date any date say 10/01/2010 (mm/dd/yyyy) end date is 99/99/9999 indicating that the emp is not terminated is_current flag = 'Y' if end date is 99/99/9999.
I have done a distinct empname from table 'X' and inserted into the salesperson table. Do i proceed to update the table for individual columns? *is that the right approach*?
I would like to create a trigger on a table, but only if the table exists.
This is what i've got so far:
create or replace function tableExists (tablename in varchar2) return boolean is c int; begin
[Code].....
This would give me the error:
PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "CREATE" when expecting one of the following: ( begin case declare exit for goto if loop mod null pragma raise return select update
I am trying to create trigger through Procedure due to following reasons-
1. The name of the column on which trigger will execute, is to be fetched dynamically. 2. The name of the column to be updated, is to be fetched dynamically.
Here is the sample code-
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE test2 IS var VARCHAR2 (4000); uname VARCHAR2 (30); attribtask VARCHAR2 (100); mapcol VARCHAR2 (100); BEGIN [code].........
On execution, the procedure throws the error of 'Insufficient privileges'. The 'var' seems to be the main culprit because the issue disappears if var is set to 'select * from dual'. Also, if i take the output (value of var) given by DBMS_output.put_line function and execute it explicitly, trigger gets created.
In addition- The procedure is (and being executed) within the same user/schema under which trigger is going to be created.
I have a table tblcustomer and a view called vworder. I need to create a trigger such that any data being added into vworder first checks if the field customerid has the data in customerid of tblcustomer.. all it has to do is spit out a error "Customer ID not found"
So I created a view such as
Quote: create or replace TRIGGER trig_order BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE ON vworder FOR EACH ROW DECLARE cust_id VARCHAR2(20); BEGIN SELECT customerid INTO cust_id FROM tblcustomer WHERE customerid = :new.customerid; EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN Raise_application_error(-20000, 'Customer ID Does Not Exist'); END;
But it comes with error
Quote: ORA-25001: cannot create this trigger type on this type of view 25001. 00000 - "cannot create this trigger type on views" *Cause: Only INSTEAD OF triggers can be created on a view. *Action: Change the trigger type to INSTEAD OF.
I am not an expert at all and I need to finish this today itself.
I've been assigned a task at work that consists of creating a trigger on a table. This table is used to store temporary query results. I'm trying to make a trigger to clean the table so old results don't accumulate.
There is a column named DATE_UPDATED that stores an Oracle Date for when the row was inserted/updated. If the row is not updated in 12 hours, I want to delete it.
Here is what I have so far.
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER clean_tableName AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE ON tableName
BEGIN
END clean_tableName;
As you can see, I don't have an actual function body yet. What would be the best way to accomplish this? Should I declare a variable to store the current Date+12 hours and then just compare that in a delete statement?
I'm thinking something like:
DECLARE laterDate DATE := SYSDATE+12; // Not sure how to add 12 hours to a date. BEGIN DELETE FROM tableName WHERE DATE_UPDATED > laterDate; END clean_tableName;
But I'm not sure how to add 12 hours to the current date. Is there a way I can do this without defining a variable?
I had to create a new column in a particular table now i want to insert the values in that column though the other columns are already populated I entered the command (insert into Product(STANDARD_PRICE) values(895.99) when i hit return it says cannot enter null value into (SYSTEM .PRODUCT. PRODUCT_ID) product_id is the PK which is the first column STANDARD_PRICE is the last column in my table...how do i enter the values into that column without receiving this error or having to effect the other columns?
TABLE_FROM_BLOCK built-in Package is working in Forms 6i but not in Forms 10g. is there any other built -in available instead of this. how do we populate table from a block in Forms 10g?
I am new to PL/SQL and how to create a trigger to compute the population of the school from the groups of students and store back in population. It also needs to check that there is a min of 10 students to a school.
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE group_type AS OBJECT ( group_nameVARCHAR2(20), tutor_idNUMBER(5),
and I was wondering if there is a quick method of populating it with calendar data so it would look like the following:
Product Year Month A 2008 Jan A 2008 Feb A 2008 Mar A 2008 Apr A 2008 May A 2008 Jun A 2008 Jul A 2008 Aug A 2008 Sep A 2008 Oct A 2008 Nov A 2008 Dec A 2009 Jan A 2009 Feb Etc.
I've a staging table STG_TABLEA which has a primary key discount_seq_no.
I am creating a pl/sql procedure to populate a primary key (discount_seq_no) with a database sequence. The intent is to keep this populated with next value incrementing by 1.
I am using Oracle 11.2.0.2 version.
I've put together the below code, not sure on next steps...
BEGIN UPDATE STG_TABLEA SET A.DISCOUNT_SEQ_NO = "INSERT A SEQUENCE HERE AND KEEP INCREMENTING the seq value by 1 COMMIT; EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN RAISE; END;
create table src(id number,val number,data varchar2(100)) insert into src values (1,1,'SUN'); insert into src values (2,2,'WED'); insert into src values (3,3,'MON'); create table trg(id number,val number,data varchar2(100)) required rows to be inserted in the target table.
insert into trg values (1,1,'SUNDAY'); insert into trg values (2,0,NULL); insert into trg values (2,0,NULL); insert into trg values (3,0,NULL); insert into trg values (3,0,NULL);insert into trg values (3,0,NULL);
{code} based on the column value of the source table src's column val , i need to populate my target table trg . If the value of val is 1 then only one target row is created in the target .If the value of val in the source table src is 2 then the target is populated with 2 rows .The values of the target columns are mapped as follow:
1)id -as it is
2)val - if the val of src is 1 then map the val as it is .If the value of val is more than one then create as many rows as the value of val ,id will be as it is and the value of val and data will be null
3)data - if the val of src is 1 then expand the abbreviation else null .
I am planning on adding Begin Date and End Date on an EFFDT (Effective dated table). easy method of populating the Begin and end Date columns based on the EFFDT already on the table. Below is an example:
Department Table
From:
DEPTID EFFDT ...DESCRIPTION 12345 1/1/1900 Accounting 12345 1/1/2000 Accounting Exp Unit 12345 2/1/2000 Acct. Expense Unit 12345 5/1/2000 Account Expense Unit 12345 10/1/2000 Account Exp Unit
TO:
DEPTID EFFDT ...DESCRIPTION BEGIN_DT END_DT 12345 1/1/1900 Accounting 1/1/1900 12/31/1999 12345 1/1/2000 Accounting Exp Unit 1/1/2000 1/31/2000 12345 2/1/2000 Acct. Expense Unit 2/1/2000 4/30/2000 12345 5/1/2000 Account Expense Unit 5/1/2000 9/30/2000 12345 10/1/2000 Account Exp Unit 10/1/2000 12/31/9999
how should i populate table column heading in list items of forms? I've create lov to select the column, then i have 10 separate list items. once i select the table from lov then list item should get populated with selected table column.
I'm having a problem with the When-timer-Expired trigger.I am creating a timer on the On-Error trigger of the block. in the when-timer-expired :
message (11); exit_form(no_validate);
If i run the program program for the first time,message 11 doesn't show thus it doesn't fire the when-timer-expired trigger. But if i logout from application server and enter all over again,the when-timer-expired works !
when i press when button pressed trigger, i want first the form will delete all the previous data and then populate the data from the table, that's why i used clear_block first, but this clear_code is not working here. my coding is given below
go_block('show'); clear_block(NO_VALIDATE); declare cursor c1 is select * from qtr_demand order by 1; begin [code]..........
creating an sql script that can update info from one table in dbase1 to another table in dbase2 that has the same columns and if possible insert date and time in one column when the synchronized is done?
I am creating a table from another existing table in another schema. The existing table contains data. When I am using the query- create table m _voucher as select * from ipm.m_voucher,I am getting the whole data of m_voucher but I want empty m_voucher table, so what will be the query to get the empty m_voucher table?
