I see following warning message in alert log file.
Quote:WARNING: OMF is enabled on this database. Creating a physical standby controlfile, when OMF is enabled on the primary database, requires manual RMAN intervention to resolve OMF datafile pathnames.
NOTE: Please refer to the RMAN documentation for procedures describing how to manually resolve OMF datafile pathnames.
Is it just an information or something like warning message we need to look into it.

I have leave application form based on the LEAVE table, it has the following columns,
leave_id(primary key)
emp_name
from_date
to_date
no_of_days
Statuswhen they entered the details and submitted the form the data will be stored in LEAVE table. later on the applied leave will be approved or rejected and the STATUS column will be updated. Is this possible to show the last leave applied status as a alert message when they are logging in ?

Tablespace usage alerts are checked every ten minutes. You can request a check every minute when you set the threshold, and confirm that this has been set:
orclz> execute DBMS_SERVER_ALERT.SET_THRESHOLD(-
> metrics_id => DBMS_SERVER_ALERT.TABLESPACE_PCT_FULL,-
> warning_operator => DBMS_SERVER_ALERT.OPERATOR_GT,-
> warning_value => '50',-
> critical_operator => DBMS_SERVER_ALERT.OPERATOR_GT,-
> critical_value => '75',-
[code]....
orclz>but you will still have to wait up to ten minutes for the alert to be raised. know whether this frequency can be changed? And why this particular alert behaves differently from all the others? This is the bahaviour in all releases since server alerts arrived.

My database is OLP system.
My question is what are the advantages and disadvantages having one single tablespace versus multiple tablespace?
Easy to maintain when you have single tablespace. but hard to track the IO issues if you have one single tablespace.

We have Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit RAC in Linux and syslog server also in Linux.
syslog server is a centralize server to monitor all the system and database log.
is there any way to create a multiple alert log file. so that we can keep one alert log file in default location and another alert log file in centralize syslog server for monitoring purpose.

if [ -n "$line_no1" -o -n "$line_no3" ] ; then
cat $script_loc/alrt_chk.log | grep -i "ORA-" > $script_loc/ora_alert_only.log

echo "Entering in while Loop"

I have one database which is recently upgraded from oracle 8.1.5 to oracle 10.2.0.4.The database is having around 300 tablespace and total size of the database is 1.5 TB.
The database was created in oracle 8i and all the teblespace were DMT(Dictionary Managed Tablespace) .Usually after up gradation all the tablespace are in DMT mode. Now my requirement is to convert all the tablespace into LMT (Locally Managed Tablespace) so that I can AVAIL ALL THE FEATURES OF LMT.
This database is a mission critical database and very less downtime can be allowed.

I am running Oracle XE . This database collects information about server statistics in my organization ( memory usage, threads running, etc). Now , I need to send alert/ notification emails if the certain thresholds are crossed by server ( ex: if number of threads increase more than 100, send an alert email).
One way to do this is to write stored procedures and schedule them to run every hour and send alert email if conditions are met.
But what I want to do is to use some sort of rule engine where I can specify the rules/conditions which have to be true for alerts to be sent. The reason I want this approach is so that every time there is a new rule, I do not have to write a new stored procedure and I can just specify the condition in the rule engine . So are there any Rule Engines out there that I can use (preferably open source and free to use)?

I have a wrong job in my test environment which generates an ORA-12012 every 5 minutes. If we chech the alert.log trace we can see that there is a recor every five minutes (more of less)

I need to display my alert prompt right after I detect the discrepancy on amount. I place my code on POST-BLOCK. The problem is, after the query, the alert pops out right before the new canvas where the block with POST-BLOCK trigger shows.
I need to display first the canvas before the alert but seems like the process of displaying canvas is the last job oracle does. So even if I place my code on post-record or any other trigger it will be the same.
