Forms :: Force User To Save Or Discard Record Before Child Window?
Aug 10, 2012I have created a form where the main canvas has number of buttons. When I click each button it will open a new canvas in a new window. User will enter some details there. now I want to force the user to save or discard the record before they leave that child window. The code I have written is

But I am not sure in which trigger I need to write the code. When I am writting in post block it is behavior is becoming unpredictable and also APP_STANDARD.EVENT('KEY-COMMIT') does not work in post_block trigger. When I am writting this in ON close trigger then also it is not firing as expected.

Mar 16, 2006 I have seen many times that people are confused for how to save and retrieve images in Oracle Database from forms. Here I have created a sample form. All the coding is there. And also required scripts are also written in this post. Please download the form create the scripts and run the form.

2. In either case how can we do it means i need in detail on both sides (means on form side and also on database side).

Jun 4, 2010I developed one form having 3 blocks(query_find,Summary and detail). If i do some changes in the 3rd block then press F4 key it's prompting "Do u want to save the Changes?[YES/NO/CANCEL].
If i press "YES" it displays message "1 Records applied and Saved. But the record is not saved in the database.

Feb 19, 2010in my forms,1 block(multi record)) which has 5 database columns(c1,c2,c3,c4,c5) and 1 non-database column(s1).Forms shows column c4 ans s1. I use populate_list on s1 column on basis of value c1,c2,c3 using system.mouse_record to fetch respective record values in the list.
but getting problem of list pop up size and return value on selecting value from pop up list. means clicking on 1st record and selecting value(e.g val1),its return "val1" after that clicking on 2nd record and selecting value(e.g xyz),its return "xyz" but at that time 1st record value become "xyz" instead of "val1".mns its replace all values with current selected value from the list.

Aug 6, 2010I currently have a field in which the user inputs a number, but before this number is allowed to be saved to the database it has to be checked to see if the number is already stored in a different field within the database. For example, if the number is not in the database the user cannot put that number into the field.
I do want it to be user input so I don't want a LOV linked to the appropriate field in the database.
Is below anyway close to the way it should be done? For some reason seq_rec.seq seems to give me 3 and doesn't seem to compare it with each of the values in the database.

Just say the field in my database has numbers: 1 2 3 4 and 5 in the field that i allow the user to input data they can only enter 1 2 3 4 or 5. Hence the check needs to be made with te database field to check if the input number is already in the database.
P.S. they are separate fields for different things, the numbers just need to be in one field before they can be added in the other.

i get the error
to_char must be declare.
if i remove this line
i am getting this error ORA-01843: not a valid month

May 3, 2013I have a table where i need to update one field values based on another field of the same table , simply as it is.I have done this using one select all check box , on clicking that all check boxes of item_trans table will get selected , then i will un select some of check box and then using one button, i will update the value of the fields which are checked only.

Apr 24, 2010I have to create a new window in a newly developed forms 6i (in Oracle e Business Suite 11i).
This new window is to duplicate the Oracle standard alert systems. I have to create a new one to match the style classes of the other windows in the developed forms. Actually, I did not manage to change the oracle alert I used first, to match fonts, colour and sizes defined in the customised class. Thus, I decided to create a new window and canvas.
It has to display a confirmation message with 2 buttons: OK, Cancel. This window contains a canvas displaying a confirmation message, and 2 buttons : Ok, Cancel attached to my data-block. I manage to show this window, with a show_window command, called from a button on the previous window's canvas.
I do not manage to hide this new window, and to come back to the previous one, when I click on Cancel button. The window does not hide.
