Here 'asd's class is NULL.
Now, using forms, how do i display the above with the modification where NULL will be shown as -1?
that is-

I have a table abc with two column (marks,id) both can have any value.
Value of the id column is zero at several places.When I divide marks by id. I get divide by zero error.

I would like to get nulls , if there is no data for a date. As we can see , here i am missing the data for '20-Apr-2010'.
I did it through "UNIX" , but it's not efficient.
The data might be missing for the complete week also. I need to test in this way only for the last 7 days. I tried something like this:

I could do it using the below query using union with the rownum.

I have select list which has null and other values. I have created a blank HTML region with the following text
Report for the year &P2_YEAR. and for geography &P2_GEOG.
Now P2_YEAR works fine because, it is always populated with a year. However, &P2_GEOG has 'All' as null value since we can see the report for all geographies. However, if the all option is selected, the above &P2_GEOG. shows as null. Since its not a PL/SQL proc, I cannot put in a NVL. I am guessing one possible way is to write a PL/SQL code before region and then check if its null and then try to populate a new hidden field and show, something like that. Wondering if there is a way to do it directly in the HTML region?

I'm using an 'On-Update trigger' to replace the default Form Builder processing for updated records. When I try to change a column in the form I get: ORA- 01446: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc.
The on-update doesn't fire. How do I get around this. The block is based on a view.

Well, let's say I also have a timestamp field in the database. I cannot run a group by with that involved because the time is recorded to the milisec and is unique for every record. Instead, I want to include this in my group by function based on whether or not it is NULL.

I have an existing form and report. We recreated our testing environment and now when running any report I first get the following error: REP-3002: Error initializing printer. make sure a printer in installed.
This error pops up when calling RUN_REPORT_OBJECT.
The next line of code checks the report status by using REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS. This check throws out error: FRM-40738: Argument1 to builtin REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS cannot be null.
This indicates that my FIND_REPORT_OBJECT is not returning a value.
All these reports and forms used to work fine on our old testing environment and also works on our live database.
Is there any way to see items in the block having null in them? I want to figure out null field before inserting the data in the database table. At the moment I am having an error ORA 01400 which means that a NULL cannot be inserted into NOT NULL column. I am trying to do a simple query where I need to return the rows from a table and treat each rown according to some rules.The query works fine, and returns all the rows, usually I have 2 rows returned. WHen I add to the query where ROWNUM = 1, I get the first row returned, but when I use when ROWNUM =2 OR ROWNUM >1, I always get null rows retured, even if I have rows in the database. Here is my query:

I want to implement a business rule such as we have for each id at most 1 dat null. So, I've created this unique index on test.

because of the unique index (the 2nd and the 3rd row are equal). So just for learning purposes, how could we allow at most one null value of dat and allow duplicates for non-null values of dat.

is there a way to keep the display of the form when we call another new form. my scenario will be as following:
am in form1 , i call form 2 from a menu, after this call form2 is open in place of form1.
i have no control in form1 and i can't change anything on it, i don't know hw the menu option is calling form2.the only control i have will be within form2 if there is any change i can make it.i read something about MDI, and OPEN_FORM() procedure, but i think this will required a change in form1 which i can't do.
is there any change i can make in form2 to display it and keep the display of form1 at the same time behind it ?

I have a form in which the fields are not database items i want to display the next record, i know i can use the next_record for the same but it does not work since it is not the database item, is there any way when the item is not the database item and i can see the next record. I use the cursor for loop but since it fecthes all the records in one go it cannot display one record at the time in the form..
