Jan 5, 2011Our product needs to use SecureMag Encrypted MagStripe Reader to get the credit card info in POS.After adding the code in every module, most of them work well now. But one of them does not. We met the error FRM-41344.This module is called from another(using call_form) that could also have this functionality(it works well in this module).
the code in WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger:

The error raise in this code. The global variable is assigned a value in each module.I got some info from the internet. But I still get error after I did the following operation.When using Oracle Forms, you might receive this run-time error:
FRM-41344: OLE object not defined for object in current record.
which can occur for either of these reasons: The OLE container has lost the definition of the Oracle Video Custom Control. To fix this problem, go into the Forms Designer, and re-insert the Oracle Video Custom Control by clicking the right mouse button inside the OLE container and choosing Insert Object
The Oracle Video Custom Control has not been initialized. To fix this problem, modify the form so that it can navigate to the block that contains the Oracle Video Custom Control. You can either make this block the first block on the form or add a GO_BLOCK command in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE script to navigate to that block. If necessary, you can add a GO_BLOCK command followed by SYNCHRONIZE before any commands that access the Oracle Video Control. (You can tell if the Oracle Video Control has been initialized because the video control buttons will be visible.)

Nov 14, 2010it seems that oracle data reader on some client machine is case sensitive. We are using oracle 10g. 2 client machines connect to the same DB and run the same code - one works and another doesn't. they are both using odac 2.111.7.20.
this is my .NET code (which works fine on every environment it was installed in the last 2 years):

The problem that we saw was that on one of the client machines dr["Name"] threw exception :
Error Source: Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleDataReader.GetOrdinal
Error Message: System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Unable to find specified column in result set
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleDataReader.GetOrdinal(String name)
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleDataReader.get_Item(String columnName)
We modified the code and used NAME instead of Name and it worked!! (dr["NAME"] instead of dr["Name"])
How can it be? from oracle documentation:
A case-sensitive search is made to locate the specified column by its name. If this fails, then a case-insensitive search is made.
My question is what can cause such a behavior? Some ODAC/ODP definitions, .NET configuration?

The problem is an issue of Loyalty Cards of a Hotel and Restaurant to various customers and then these cards will be presented by the customers time to time in the Hotel as well as Restaurant. The Owner of the Hotel and Restaurant wants to generate separate barcode for each card and when this card will be presented then the bar code reader will readout the code and the system will calculate the amount of discount/rebate. Because if the data entry operator enter the code of the card through key board the it will be a chance of leakage or misuse of that card.

Apr 20, 2011I have u na forms developer application in 6.0 that generates a Word document. This application runs successfully on Windows XP operating system. We now have PC's new operating system Windows 7 and officce 2010. My procedure reads a specific route where a template in Word which is used to generate the document. In the user's PC application that does not generate the document even shows me an error message. But when I enter my network user with the user's PC and the document genre generates me perfectly. I checked if the user has access to the server path specifies where the template encuntra wish to open and if you have them.

Now it shows fine but when I close this form and open another those fields are now blacked out. What should I do, I know the problem comes from the new form.

Apr 12, 2013I have task. I am using oracle forms 6i. I want to import excel data to oracle forms(its common task using ole2 package). But this time I want to map the columns i.e my database table having 5 columns. and the excel file is having 2 or 3 columns then i suppose to map those columns and accordingly insert it to my table.
So far i have import column heading of excel to oracle forms, then i've provide list item for mapping each column. so that user can map excel column to database columns. Now I am confuse how to write the code so that selected columns should get inserted into database.

I have table with columns id, name, location, address, plan. in those columns i need to insert records form excel. user having a excel with 3 columns col1, col2, col3. on the form i've fetch column headers of excel and in front of that i've provide database column list , so user can match excel column with database column. e.g.
COL1 --> list value of database column
COL2 -->list value of database column
COL3 -->list value of database column
Once user map those column i want to insert those values into my database table (table with columns id, name, location, address, plan). and i am confuse about this code.

Jun 15, 2012i'm using db and forms 10g. i want the output of the form to be embedded within a simple html page. lets say i want the html page to be divided into three frames. the uppermost horizontal frame will hold a banner (say). the left vertical frame will hold some advertisement (say).
(1) now the rest of the page will be covered by the third frame in which the fmx's will run.
(2) i want the login.fmx (startup form) to show up first instead of the servlet. infact the servlet should not show up at all.

Jun 7, 2013I am working on a simple form which will get the user to fetch required columns of employee master.
For that i have created a form which will display the column names and select option. When user clicks on query, the form will display the selected columns in a block. After going thru if required the user can download it to excel.
As of now I do not have filtering option. For this I thought of creating view based on the selection and then fetch records from the view and display it in form.
To achieve this I would like to know How I create or replace a view dynamically based on values selected. I remember doing this sort of thing long back, but could not recollect it.

Sep 20, 2012We are using Oracle Forms 6i and back-end as Oracle 10g Database. We are facing a specific problem while working with Forms6i. I am giving the steps as showm below:
1. We have a table named TEST (a number not null, b char(1) not null).
2. When we insert a record throuhg SQL*PLUS like this:
insert into test values (1, ' '). The record is inserted in the table TEST successfully.
3. We checked the length of column b i.e. select length(b) from test, it is showing 1. This is the correct value because it has inserted a space in column 'b' of the table TEST. (That's what we want).
4. We created a form having data-block from table TEST and trying to insert the same record throuhg Forms9i.
5. There it gives an error of "Unable to INSERT record" becuase in form builder, it is trimming the spaces for column 'b' automatically and making it NULL. Since the column 'b' defined as NOT NULL in table TEST, hence generating the error. (Basically there in form builder, it is generating ORA-01400 error which is can not insert NULL value in NOT NULL column).
We would like to know why in form builder, space is automatically being trimmed to NULL..? We do not want this to happen. We want space to be inserted as space only. How can i implement this case, becuase we need this kind of functionality in our form builder application.

Feb 20, 2012I have a problem running forms 11g OS is windows 7 (tried on both 32bit and 64 bit same error)..Forms and Reports were both working fine, i was able to run test form, and a form that i created, and both were running properly. suddenly, while testing a new form module, it didn't work, and its showing :
