I am creating an application in which I 'm in need to take two list boxes ..in which one mentions the country name...and the other list box mention the state names of that particular country....
I knew the approach of creating dynamic list ..but i cant do it here ..as the trigger is already assigned with another list box in the same appliaction....
so now i need to know whether it can be done using the property pallete???
I have a master detail based transaction form, i want to create three check boxes on header block, based on selection sorting must happen on detail block which has three fields, for example there are three fields item_code,item_name,item_qty, if user selects first check box then sorting will be on item_code, if he presses second then sorting should be based on item_name, likewise if he presses check box three then sorting will be based on qty, if choses two or more fields then sorting will according to that combined order.
Have 2 small tasks for regexp..where we need to extract numbers from the text & multiply & get the result.

The code extracts numbers ..but doesn't multiply & give the result.Have one more scenario as well.

For the above code, if it's hours ..we need to convert into day by multiplying with the required factor to make it a day.
I want to execute a query which automatically saves the result of a set of queries in a text file and have to send that as an attachment thru a mail (using UTL_MAIL or UTL_SMTP) thru a stored procedure...saving the result in a text file in Toad.
i'm working on sql developer my table contains 40 columns and contains around 4 to 5 lakhs records........
when i'm trying to export the results into excel or text file my sql developer is getting hanged... if the result is less than 2lakh record its copying....
I am developing a form where I need to add Numbers.In fact we have a bag of Cones that contain 24 cones.In normal calculation when I add numbers for example
5.24 Plus 5.24 it will give the result 10.48
I Need the appropriate method to calculate if I add these two numbers it should give the result 5.24 Plus 5.24 the result should be 12
Currently I am working on payroll system where I have to calculate employees working hours/late coming hours/early going hours against its roster which is defined in the beginning of every month/week.

Oracle stores both date and time information in date data type, suppose today user change shift timings from 17:00 to 17:30 or user change timein/timeout in attendance form then oracle will store current date with user define timings.
Now this is the main problem which I am facing because whenever you calculate difference between timein and timeout or compare with its roster then output comes wrong because oracle returns total no of hours whenever you minus two dates.

I'm getting trouble in getting the sum of all the product's prize present in the form fields of invoice form. For example, I user bought 2 products so I want to get there prize sum in the total box. I first want that I've QUANTITY, DISCOUNT and SELLING PRIZE.
If I multiply Quantity with Selling Prize then I gets the result in Product and Quantity Total Box. However, Now I want to add discount option in it. Means if user is providing 10% discount to his/her customer then Quantity * Selling Prize - Discount% becomes a result in product's solution final prize box.

Look...Now here..I've added 22 in quantity.. now if I'll insert 10% in discount then the total will comes in Amount Display Box.

How To Display Runtime Calculation in cursor for example in loop i define xyx number then add + 1 in xyz and move its value to block item until loop valid but in display no value shown but if i apply message(xyz) then it also shown the answer is correct but with message style i click every time in message but i want that with some delay form automatically show the value of xyz in block field.
I'm facing a problem where I create a form and I want to feed time in "HH:MI" format, Firstly I choose the "Date" datatype, but during the feeding of time i.e "00:30", means if I want to feed only mints, then it doesn't accept, at the other hand if I feed "01:30" means mints with hr then it accepts.
To get rid of this problem I changed datatype "Date" to "Varchar2".
I create 3 columns on my form "TTL_WORKING_TIME" - "TTL_RUN_TIME" = "BRK_DWN_TIME". If I get any value in "BRK_DWN_TIME" column thn it has to be distribute in 3 or 4 reason of B/D, means if I get 00:30 mints brkdwn thn 00:15 mints for "reason1" and 00:15 mints for "reason2".
How I make calculation where I use "Varchar2" datatype.
I am having a strange problem when I try to insert some Russian characters in the database. Only some characters (accented characters) go as square boxes in the database. Rest of the Russian characters behave properly.
The browser's character encoding is UTF8. I am on an Oracle 10.2 DB with NLS_Lang= ARABIC_EGYPT.AR8MSWIN1256 and characterset is AL32UTF8. The columns in which these values are being inserted are of NVARCHAR2 type.
However another system having SQL Server 2005, is also getting the same issue, so I am not able to understand where the problem lies. (The table columns are NVARCHAR type for SQL Server)
am facing a Problem in creating display items .First I create a display item and name it ITEM6This Display item will show Department name of employees .I create a Block Level Trigger to invoke this display item .

The module_name variable should be assigned the value 'covenants', because :GLOBAL.FORMS_PATH is '' (nothing). I stepped thru the code and in the debug system values window there is nothing in :GLOBAL.FORMS_PATH. But instead, it gives me: 'FORM_NAMEcovenants' where 'FORM_NAME' is the form the menu was called from.
Is there any way to Create Form in which i give a query and in result it return the query result in detail block in form of fields just like we return in toad or pl/sql developer.
Exporting text data from a table. Suppose I have a table of employees.
In oracle Forms. I make the two column of Hire_date1 and Hire_date2. When I put the Date Into Hire_date1 and Hire_date2 , And press push button. All the data save in text file C: emp folder.
I have migrated from Oracle 8i (8.1.7) to Oracle 10g, but when I execute a query in 8i without any order by clause, I get a result in ascending order. The same query when executed in 10g gives a result which is not ordered. How to get an order result in 10g. There are many forms and reports which use lov which are not ordered. Can I set the ordering at the database, so that I do not have to alter all the forms and reports.
I have also migrated my forms from 5 to 6, but the combo box in some forms in 6i do not appear at run time. How I can solve this problem. I have attached an forms5 .fmb file/.
Have got basic form on a table and have a textarea which holds Notes added by user.
So Notes database field is updated on Save / Apply changes button being pressed.But would really like any text added / appended to the Notes field to be prefixed by userid and date / timestamp.
Is it possible via dynamic actions or Javascript to have any new text added / typed to be auto prefixed as per above.
Would only want the first key press in the filed to trigger the auto-prefix and if added text was deleted then the auto prefix to be deleted as well ?? If user doesn't press Save / Apply changes obviously want to leave existing Notes as is.
I am on Oracle 11.2.0.3 on Linux and have implemented Oracle Text.I created Oracle Text indexes with default setting. However in an oracle white paper I read that the default setting may not be right. Here is the excerpt from the white paper by Roger Ford:URL....(Part of this white paper below....)Index Memory.
As mentioned above, cached $I entries are flushed to disk each time the indexing memory is exhausted. The default index memory at installation is a mere 12MB, which is very low. Users can specify up to 50MB at index creation time, but this is still pretty low. This would be done by a CREATE INDEX statement something like: CREATE INDEX myindex ON mytable(mycol) INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.context PARAMETERS ('index memory 50M'); Allow index memory settings above 50MB, the CTXSYS user must first increase the value of the MAX_INDEX_MEMORY parameter, like this: begin ctx_ adm. set_ parameter('max_index_memory', '500M'); end; The setting for index memory should never be so high as to cause paging, as this will have a serious effect on indexing speed. On smaller dedicated systems, it is sometimes advantageous to temporarily decrease the amount of memory consumed by the Oracle SGA (for example by decreasing DB_CACHE_SIZE and/or SHARED_POOL_SIZE) during the index creation process.

1) To apply this procedure (ctx_adm.set_parameter) required me to login as CTXSYS user. Is that right? or can it be avoided and be done from the application schema? This user CTXSYS is locked by default and I had to unlock it. Is that ok to do in production?
2) What is the value that I should use for the max_index_memory should it be 500 mb - my SGA is 2 GB in Dev/ QA and 3GB in production. Also in the index creation what is the value I should set for index memory parameter - I had left that at default but how should I change now? Should it be 50MB as shown in example above?
3) The white paper also refer to rebuilding an index at some interval like once in a month: ALTER INDEX DR$index_name$X REBUILD ONLINE; We are on Oracle 11g and the white paper was written in 2003.
