I have a table named PRODUCT (ID Number , ProductImage BLOB). I have inserted some records in. I want to create a form for user to view this table.
When I create Data Block, in Data Block Wizard, if I select option 'Table or View' to retrieve data, it's ok (Data type of item ProductImage is Image, when I run form and query, it display image normally).BUT, I want to retrieve data from stored procedure in a package. This is my package
PACKAGE my_pkg IS
TYPE my_rec IS RECORD
(
myID PRODUCT.ID%TYPE,
myImage PRODUCT.ProductImage%TYPE
);
[code].....
I select option 'Stored Procedure' in Data Block Wizard, then select my stored procedure (my_pkg.Do_Query). Next I choose 2 columns from my stored procedure (ID, ProductImage). The wizard still applys data type of ProductImage as Image. I finish Data Block Wizard and Layout Wizard... run form, query and an error message display:
FRM-40364: The data type of item 'ProductImage' does not match the corresponding column in the stored procedure.
I try to change 'myImage PRODUCT.ProductImage%TYPE' -> 'myImage BLOB' in my package but still get that error.

I am developing an apex application using the apex cloud (apex.oraclecorp.com). I am using the DB link to show the data on APEX UI. I have a blob data which is stored in the remote DB, and I want to display the BLOB data as text on a popup or a new page or a download link. I tried using display only item but APEX throws an error saying that remote DB is not supported. Also, It would be great if I can just show a download link on the UI for the BLOB data, again when I try to select the format as BLOB in the column attributes, When I give the table@dblink as BLOB table I get an error saying that "table@DBLINK not found". Is there any way to display the BLOB data as text or download it which is present in my local DB?

I am trying to use client_get_file_name to display the select file dialog box. My problem is that I can get the dialog box to open but it does not default to the folder that I specify in the client_get_file_name parameter (r_system_data.import_dir points to c:
eports).
v_filename := client_get_file_name(r_system_data.import_dir, null,
'CSV Files (*.csv)|*.csv|',
'Select a file to import travel details from');
The strange thing is when I use JInitiator 1.3.1.22 the diolog box defaults to the c: eports folder but when I use J2SE JRE 1.5.0_21-b01 it defaults to c: emp (which is where 'My Documents' points to, may be just a coincidence)
I am running Windows XP SP3 with IE8.

I am trying to extract the BLOB column in Oracle Apex and show the contents of it as a popup message.
The files which are stored in the blob column are being zipped using windows zip function in Perl and being inserted in the dataabse using some perl program as follows,
my $zip = Archive::Zip->new();
my $zipfile = $zip->addFile( @$_->[1] ,basename(@$_->[0]));
While extracting the blob column we are using the utl_compress.lz_uncompress_extract() to extract the uncompressed version of file, but we are getting the following error as
"ORA-29294: A data error occurred during compression or uncompression".
I even tried the solution as mentioned in oracle forum

The SQL below successfully inserts a row into my PDF_TEMPLT table and reads the referenced pdf file into the TEMPLT field. However, the pdf stored in the blob is incomplete or somehow corrupted. It's 438655 bytes long and causes the application that uses it from the database to crash. If I load the same file into the blob field using Quest Software's Toad GUI, it's 438667 bytes (12 bytes longer), and the consuming application works fine. I have the same problem with other pdfs, too, though the difference in length varies from 2 to 17 bytes, with the SQL-loaded blob always being shorter.
why a blob loaded by this SQL would differ from one loaded via Toad, and what changes I'd need to make to this SQL to get it work properly?
DECLARE
l_dir VARCHAR2(10) := 'RPWS_DIR';
l_file VARCHAR2(30) := '5214OR_Rev_1_13.pdf';
l_bfile BFILE;

Oracle Database Version: 11.2.0.2.0
We have a requirement below:
The basic requirement is to send an email to the user about order information, with specific subject and the corresponding e-mail body.
Here the E-mail body is very exhaustive, so we are asked to store the content of the e-mail in a word document and store this word document in a tables column of type BLOB.
Once we store this file in the BLOB column, when we send the e-mail to the customer we need to publish the content of the file in the e-mail body and send the e-mail to the user (This E-mail body has some dynamic content as well, that needs to be generated on the fly). This e-mail sending part is done by the shell script.
How can i publish the content of the BLOB object in the e-mail body.

I needed to create a page on my existing APEX application that would allow the user to upload a file, I followed an online tutorial where the user had created a dummy table and inserted CSV File inserted through APEX into the table. Following that simple example I am able to load the simple CSV file (from tutorial) into a dummy table (from tutorial) but when I attempt to insert actual/dummy data into my actual database (which has a lot more fields of different types), using the exact same process, I am unable to do so.
Ironically, I am unable to insert even dummy values despite the fact that I have been able to insert the same dummy values using SQL Developer. Icing on the cake is that APEX does not produce any error, this lack of debugging feature (especially line by line debugging) is such a pain. Just to add, I can load the values into an Array and can successfully print the delimited values off the array but am still unable to insert the same values into my table. Here is the table that I am attempting to insert into (actual names replaced by Dummyxx):
CREATE TABLE "TABLE"."STG" (
"DUMMY01" NUMBER,
"DUMMY02" NUMBER,
"DUMMY03" NUMBER,
"DUMMY04" DATE,
"DUMMY05" CHAR(3 BYTE),
[code].........
And here's the insertion process:
DECLARE
v_blob_data BLOB;
v_blob_len NUMBER;
v_position NUMBER;
v_raw_chunk RAW(10000);
v_char CHAR(1);
[code]..........
If I run a process to produce the output of the data array onto the screen, the values displayed are in the pattern desired.
Inserting Dummy values instead of values from the Array (v_data_array) to test
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'insert into TABLE.STG (DUMMY01, DUMMY02 ..... DUMMY65)
VALUES (
60040,
5,
TO_DATE("14-Dec-12","DD-MON-RRRR HH:MI:SS"),
"ABC",
"ABC",
60,
"11DEC1201",
"331",
"SCOTT TIGER",
"MARKETING",
[code].......
Note that all the the CSV does not contain all the fields, the CSV files that are expected to be entered into the system contain 65 Fields whereas the Table has 73 Fields. Also note that the process runs fine through SQL loader that is invoked through a different server which I need to release and hence the attempt to load the table this way. Also, the procedure on the SQL Loader server is quite complex and involved JAVA+Unix Shell Scripts etc. which I would prefer to avoid.

I'm trying to develop a procedure which will read a BLOB field of a table and write an RTF document which will be used as template to another procedure but when the procedure fires up the select statemente, i got stuck with a ORA-06502 error.
This error, after reading the documentation, is caused by incompatibilities between fields (numeric or value error string) But i've seen this example everywhere in the internet and what is causing it.
The source code of my procedure follows:
PROCEDURE p_transfer_db_client(pcPath IN VARCHAR2,
pnSequence IN NUMBER) IS
v_src_blob BLOB;
v_file UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;

I have a table containing records with a field representing a png image that is encoded as base64 text. The procedure responsible for creating the record receives the base64 information in a parameter of type CLOB. It then inserts it in a field of same type on the record. 1) Outfile file size is huge high compare then table segment data.
2) last column having extra space.
The output column is clob datatype. so i have added set long 50000 and set longchunksize 50000 parameter. after adding these only i got above issues. without two options, i am not getting this isssue but lines are wrapped.

My configuration is
APEX 4.2 on Windows XP with APEX Listnere on Glassfish 3.1.2 Open Source Server Edition.
The database is 11G XE
Let me explain the scenario which is not working.A Modal region which is having a file browse item based on WWV_FLOW_FILES and a button called add file.
When I click on add file it display a blank page and in the URL I could see [URL]...But actually it inserted file in the table.
I have put wwv_flow* in Listener Configuration for allowed procedures.I have another page where I have a page item which is based on BLOB column specified in item source attribute. And that is inserting file and displaying the pages correctly.

is there a way to keep the display of the form when we call another new form. my scenario will be as following:
am in form1 , i call form 2 from a menu, after this call form2 is open in place of form1.
i have no control in form1 and i can't change anything on it, i don't know hw the menu option is calling form2.the only control i have will be within form2 if there is any change i can make it.i read something about MDI, and OPEN_FORM() procedure, but i think this will required a change in form1 which i can't do.
is there any change i can make in form2 to display it and keep the display of form1 at the same time behind it ?
