One of my databases which is running on exadata x2-2 , has been restored to non-exadata machine in order to test few things. I had a sub-partition table in the exadata , compressed for query high. test machine (NOT EXADATA) , after uncompressing this subpartiton tables i am getting the following err message :
ORA-64307: hybrid columnar compression is not supported for tablespaces on this storage type I have executed the following commands : alter table crm.cm_ncd modify partition P01_CM_NCD nocompress; alter table crm.cm_ncd modify partition P02_CM_NCD nocompress; alter table crm.cm_ncd modify partition P03_CM_NCD nocompress;

ERROR at line 1: ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P005 ORA-64307: hybrid columnar compression is not supported for tablespaces on this storage type If all the partitions are uncompressed why i am getting this error message ?
We are facing space crunch in our 4 development 11i ERP environment servers and decided to reclaim the space . We are having 11.1.0.7 Database . What we observed is, there are many objects present in the recyclebin and we went on to purge the reclybin of MSC user.
SQL>select owner,sum(space)* 8 / 1024/1024 "Size in GB" from dba_recyclebin group by owner order by sum(space) ;
But even after purging the recycle bin of MSC User , we didn't find any changes in DBA_FREE_SPACE for those tablespaces in which recyclebin objects were present. We would have seen the freed space in dba_free_space.
lv_ret := WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.AS_To_Client_with_progress(lv_clnt_file, lv_srvr_file, 'Download from Application Server in progress', 'Please wait');
to download a file to my H: drive.Here lv_ret is a boolean variable.The file is not downloaded to my H drive when there is no enough space.How to capture that error?
I am having an issue with the LOBs in our Database. Our production DB is about 71G right now - if i do export/import using the DataPump - I see the data volume becomes 40G. I am sure its because of the LOBs in my Database. Our application uses lots of LOB datatype and I think the space is not being released.
The challenge is I cant do a full export/import in my Production DB as its a 24/7 system and to do export/import I need min. 5 hrs - which my business will not permit. I can I claim the unused space here. I have used Segment Advisor - but it has only given me 6G of space gain.
Is there any script I can try to use to reclaim space in the database.
There is a scenario: I dropped all objects of 3 users and dropped other 2 users and then I checked the space from dba_segments it reflects decreased space which is perfectly fine. Problem is that when I checked the space of physical datafile on disk it remains same. How can I restore or shrink or regained the space after dropping objects and users to maintain my storage requirements.
I am having an Oracle 11g R2 RAC setup. My database size is 22TB in normal servers. I have checked my database in Exadata X2-2 and found out that the HCC was good and as per my assumption the 22TB can come down to 10TB .
My challenge is i need to transfer the 22TB data to the exadata quater rack which is having space constraint. Is there any way other than export & Import as data export and import will use entire 22TB. Is there any way to transfer the data to Exadata with compressed form from the source server.
I am having doubt on the no_index concept in oracle. I am using oracle exadata server.It is basically data warehouse project.I am in the situation to join some tables and get the result set for reporting purpose.
Among the tables, 2 tables having huge count.1st table has more than - 1,000,000,000 rows2nd table has more than - 200,000,000 rows when i join these 2 tables with some small set of tables, it is taking long time (around 20 MIN) to retrieve the result set. The final result set is around 100 rows only.
But, when i force NO_INDEX hint in the same query, is giving the same result in very fast manner(around 5 MIN). Because it is working based on cell smart scan. So, can i force the NO_INDEX hint to all tables? I forced the NO_INDEX hint only the table which is contain 200,000,000 rows not for others.
Query Plan : Normal Query using the the range scan based on the key. No_INDEX Query going full table scan.
This is the first time I've got a job in Windows platform, I've worked as DBA with Unix/Linux still now.
I received one command: Install Oracle 11gR2 on Windows 7 Enterprise, so that, I plan to create one Partition (really, not mounted, this is Unallocated partition by Partition Magic 3rd software) which will contain datafile in it.
And, when I install 11gR2 Grid, the step ASM creation did not recognize the Unallocated Partition I created.
1) Post Installation check list ie: How can I see every things are installed correctly. 2) upgrade the exadata OS version . 3) Upgrade the Database. 4) Test Migration from Oracle database to Exadata. 5) Right now there RAC servers are installed without domain, I need to add domain name to existing RAC.
My organisation is currently discussing different storage options for the database storage. Our production database is nearly 2TB and we do not want to continue with the existing NetApp storage (we use a 2 node RAC running 11.2.02 with nfs filesystem from NetApp filer).
We were looking at different options and came across Nimble Storage, they are very fast growing company aiming mid-range storage customers. The initial talks and demonstration looked very promising in terms of IO performance (they claim 40,000 - 60,000 IOPs for their CS400 series Nimble Storage array) and other options they are providing but we understand that majority of their customers are using it for VDI and other infrastructures.
They have demonstrated us using if for Oracle database with ASM storage over iSCSI LUNs. We are yet to do the POCs and benchmarking.
Has anyone come across Nimble Storage for running Oracle databases?
Sysaux Tablespace is running low. WE SET AWR RETENTION TIME=60 DAYS. WE ARE NOT INTEREST TO EXTEND SYSAUX TABLESPACE SIZE. Usually we take AWR weekly once. Some times we did ADDM report and ASH.
CODEsql>select TABLESPACE_NAME, FILE_NAME, BYTES/(1024*1024), AUTOEXTENSIBLE, MAXBYTES/(1024*1024) from dba_data_files where tablespace_name = 'SYSAUX';
1. What's the best SOLUTION ? 2. Can i shrink sysaux tablespace ? 3. I think , The size for all occupants in sysaux tablespace is less than 200 MB => how to find actual content of sysaux tablespace ? 4. What could be the reason for growth? Is there any way to free the space from sysaux table space?
We have eight servers. One of them is for centeral management. The other seven is for development and test databases. Every night, we start a process which exports database schemas (without data) into the centeral server. An example of the process we run is just like below:
As you can see, we use @dev to connect remote database. But dump file is created in local (centeral) server. We are planning to use datapump instead of classic export in future. But I couldn't find a solution, that could take a database export in a remote server and create dump file in local. I have looked at NETWORK_LINK parameter; but it doesn't seem to work for our case.
Is it possible to backup a remote database with datapump and make it create dumpfile in local? (Of course we can use some solutions such as NFS, but we really not prefer this; if datapump has ability to remotly backup.)
only these two packages in my server. should i have to install oracleasmlib??
[root@RAC1 ~]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm configure Configuring the Oracle ASM library driver.
This will configure the on-boot properties of the Oracle ASM librarydriver. The following questions will determine whether the driver isloaded on boot and what permissions it will have. The current valueswill be shown in brackets ('[]'). Hitting <ENTER> without typing an answer will keep that current value. Ctrl-C will abort.

I don't have this package in my installation cd, when i searched in the web i could not find
Is the 12c version of the Grid Control only for Oracle Cloud? Not completely sure of exactly what cloud computing is. Looks like a conglomeration of shared resources. Anyway we are converting all of our servers over to vmware virtual machines except the ones we manage in other states. I am upgrading each database to 11 r2 as we convert the servers. Anyway my Grid server is next to convert to a virtual machine. I am using Grid Control 10.2.0.5.0 now. I want to upgrade to the latest version of the Grid control. 12c seems to stress and boast about managing the "Oracle Cloud" to manage regular single node Oracle servers as well as vmware virtual machines?
I wanted to practice dataguard in oracle. I feel that I can practice realistically if I have 2 different servers to do switchovers, building new physical standby database from scratch and shipping the archiving logs from primary to physical standby database, etc., Can I use VMWare software to install 2 different servers and then practice dataguard?
I am working in a reporting project.We have different environments.After migration of data base script from one server to another we always need to crosscheck whether newly added columns have been properly migrated or not.
any database script to address the same thing. Last but not the least we have servers with TNS entries. how we can connect to different server while present in one specific server.
I have a two node RAC on 11.2.0.3. We are using SCAN Listener here. On my node 1, i can connect to the database using tns alias: The alias looks something like:
sqlplus system/actdbasystem@cusms ----- works sucesfully on the prod server. Even the same prod alias copied to second tnsnames.ora in the cluster and run, it works sucesful too. But the issue is, when we copy the same alias onto any other servers and try to connect give's the following error message:
I have oracle grid control 10.2, I want to get the list of databases and servers that was configured within the Grid, is there any query that I can use to get it from Grid database?
I know how to create a database link between two oracle servers, but problem is that SID is same for both servers, Is there any other way to connect two servers without using only 'SID' ..here are TNSNAMES.ORA FILE i HAVE
I wanted to practice dataguard in oracle. I feel that I can practice realistically if I have 2 different servers to do switch overs, building new physical standby database from scratch and shipping the archiving logs from primary to physical standby database, etc.,

Our application servers will be running a SELECT which returns zero rows all the time.This SELECT is put into a package and this package will be called by application servers very frequently which is causing unnecessary CPU.
Original query and plan
SQL> SELECT SEGMENT_JOB_ID, SEGMENT_SET_JOB_ID, SEGMENT_ID, TARGET_VERSION FROM AIMUSER.SEGMENT_JOBS WHERE SEGMENT_JOB_ID NOT IN (SELECT SEGMENT_JOB_ID FROM AIMUSER.SEGMENT_JOBS) 2 3 4 5 ; [code]....
Which option will be better or do we have other options?They need to pass the column's with zero rows to a ref cursor.
Due to some some Network issues . we have planing to move oracle database one domain to another domain changing domain name and IP address of oracle database . if want to change oracle database 10g(10.2.0.5.0) 32 bit windows version what are setting s to change in oracle database.
