I have created a form based on a table and I want to override the processing which inserts/updates the data in the database. I have figured out how to create a new process but I am having trouble referencing the form field data.
If I have a filed call P40_USERNAME how do I reference this in the insert/update statement in the custom process.
db11gxe and apex 4.0 , difference of the processes in these two columns , what is the diff ? the same "Select the category of the process you wish to create:"? there is no difference i can see ?so what is the diff again ?
I'm using an 'On-Update trigger' to replace the default Form Builder processing for updated records. When I try to change a column in the form I get: ORA- 01446: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc.
The on-update doesn't fire. How do I get around this. The block is based on a view.
For example, initially I created the reprot source as select c1, c2, c3 from t; later I added c4. But i was unable to figure out how to make c1, c2, c3, c4 become default displayed columns. I always have to click Action -> Select Columns, then move C4 from "Do not Display" to "Display in Report".
I'm using apex 4.1 and create a page with Interactive report with one default primary report and several default alternative report. when i selected one alternative report, how do i know which one is i picked up? it looks obvious to the user but my point is when the user switches to another page, or there are something should change based on the selected report, i want the user see the new page with-in the context of what have selected for that IR report. for example, i have a "summary" report based on year, so the alternative report will be year-2011, year-2012, etc, when user selected this year, 2012, on the same IR page, there is another report based on year 2012, when user selected 2011, that report should show 2011 report.
I am working on an existing application updating it to use custom authentication. When I changed the active authentication scheme APEX created a new login page (121). Why? How do I set it back to the login page I was using previously which I ahve customized somewhat?
In a detail tabular form I am referencing a date picker field from the master form as default value. This is the situation in the detail form:
TABULAR FORM Column Name: FECHAREGISTRO -- the field's name in the detail tabular form
Default Type: Item (application or page item name) Default: P68_FECHAREGISTRO -- It's a field in the master form and also is Date Picker format Reference Table Owner: SAMPEDRORIVEROS Reference Table Name: BITACORAABOGADO Reference Column Name: FECHAREGISTRO -- It's a date field in the database
At execution time I have the error:
report error:ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression
I think it is because i must use to_date and to_char in order to change the datatype and i have tried using:
i have used radio button under dynamic conditions for an interactive report.eg: radio button values are like a) front end b)middlware c)back end.so based on the selected value of the radio button, interactive report appears. and each fields in radio button have separate set of users. now my issue is,based on the user logging in, the default value should set up while the page is loaded...[i.e... if a front end user logs in, the default value of tat radio button shd be front end...]
1.-) i got a page that contains 2 regions, lets say :master (HTML text) and a detail (tabular form updateable report) in my tabular form i got a hidden item that should take the value from the master form. how do i do this ?
2.-) i am calling a form from another form, sending a couple of fields as a link parameters. the second form is called as expected, but i need that records on the second form that match the parameters get displayed. how do i achieve that ?
Basically I have a report that as part of it's source sql takes in an element from a select list.
E.G. SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE table_column = : P1_SELECTLIST
This works fine when the user selects an option from the select list however the first time the page runs it always returns data not found. The options correctly appear in the select list as they should without any nulls although it seems the select list is still initializing as null. I have been told to try and add a computation before the header on the select list item, although I'm not sure if this would work/how to do this.?
I'm using one of the new Date/Time picker items in Apex 4.0.2. When the user clicks the Calendar image the Calendar is displayed with the current date and time. However I would like it to display by default the current date and a time of 1000hrs.
I am developing a Catalog style application and displaying pictures in an Interactive Report; I can get the Interactive Report to display the Icon view when users visit the report the first time, the report works pretty simply. It has a series of buttons for the Sections of the Catalog and when the user presses the button it fills a hidden item which is in the where criteria of the Catalog, all of this works great with one exception:
When the user clicks the Catalog button and the data in the Interactive Report Changes; the Report changes to "Report View" I would like to maintain the report in "Icon View" only is there a way how I could have the interactive report only show "Icon View".
I have created a form. Some of the elements are hidden such as updated_by and update_date. I have provided the default values for these attributes as pl/sql expression in the "default section" (Application->page->edit page item). I am using the Process Row process that is automatically created when a form is created.
The problem is when I click the update button, the updated_by and update_date is passed as null values which throws an error from the database.
I am facing this problem, not sure how to solve this. Basically, the default value of the "items" on the page don't get set when the session is cleared and I visit the page for the first time.
So when I check the session for the first time, all page items are null. But when I revisit the page, the page items gets set sometimes.
I have created a IR report and I set the default search column using the suggestion found in the thread URL....but how can I keep this default even after the research was done? Now it is resetted !
I am trying to change the default behavior of Hide/Show Region to show, after some attempts i got it partially working but now clicking the icon to toggle hide/show doesn't work also changed the icons and added type="" but its not working.
Version : 4.1.1, I have a tabular form on a DB table. One of the columns is a date field. When the user hits the "add Row" button on the tabular form, I want the Date field to be defaulted to sysdate. Here is what I have tried so far,
1. Created a "hidden" item P1_SYSDATE and populated the default value with sysdate. After this, under the DB tabular report date field, I used default type - Item/application on this page and entered P1_sYSDATE
2. Instead of populating the default value of the P1_SYSDATE hidden item, I created a before regions process and added
:P1_SYSDATE := sysdate
and added P1_SYSDATE to default type of the tabular date field with default type as "ITem/application on this page.
I get the error
ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression
I tried to_Char(sysdate,'dd-mon-yyyy') and then converting it back to to_date. still no luck.
I M USING APEX 4.1 AND CREATED SELECT LIST ON PAGE, I WANT TO SHOW MIN VALUE OF THE SELECT LIST FOR THAT I WROTE IN THAT SELECT LIST PROPERTIES UNDER DEFAULT TAG MIN; AND CHOOSE PL/SQL EXPRESSION BUT ITS GIVING ERROR "Error computing item default value for page item P1_PRODUCT."
BUT IF I HARDCORE THE VALUE CONTAINING IN MY DATA LIKE PRODUCT ID = 1, I HARDCODED IN DEFAULT VALUE 1 AND SELECT PL/SQL EXPRESSION IT WORKS.
BUT ITS NOT DONE LIKE THIS I WANT TO SELECT BY DEFAULT MIN VALUE OF THE SELECT LIST, SO THAT THE DATA SHOULD BE DISPLAYED ACCORDING TO THAT.
THE EXACT REQUIREMENT IS TO ENTER THE SELECT LIST DEFAULT VALUE IN SESSION SO THAT DATA IS TO BE DISPLAYED.
We have nld_date_format set to dd-mon-rr at database level
While querying I am using to_date('08-SEP-81','dd-MON-yy') which is not giving me the desired results However using the date directly or with to_date('08-SEP-81','dd-MON-rr') is giving correct results
I was expecting using to_date('08-SEP-81','dd-MON-yy') will override the database or instance settings and will return the results.

The above types are created with no issues. However, when I am trying to inherit the child method and override its parent, I am getting the follwoing error:-

I am a new to Oracle, Installed Oracle 11g express edition. Also I had installed Oralce SQL Developer tool but i don't know the user name and password to connect.
what is my default instance? what is my default user name and password? How to connect ?
SQL Statement Processing Steps: 1. Create a cursor. 2. Parse the statement.
parsing (syntax check, semantic check, privilege check, allocate private sql area, shared pool check (library cache check shared sql area. Here is hard or soft parse)SQL queries submitted to the system first run through the parser, which checks syntax and analyzes semantics. The result of this phase is called a parsed representation of the statement.
This parsed representation is then sent to the optimizer, which handles three main functionality:Transformation, estimation, and execution plan generation.
3. Describe query results. 4. Define query output. 5. Bind variables. 6. Parallelize the statement. 7. Execute the statement. 8. Fetch rows of a query. 9. Close the cursor.
- What stages from the above are included in the 'Query Optimizer Stage' - Is the parse tree created after doing both syntax check and systematic check as I found notes where they mention it was done before symantic check - What stages are skipped when doing soft parse vs hard parse -when mentioned parsed representation, is that the same as parse tree.
I am just trying to understand more the flow of the query processing.
in this example empid is dummy empid (which will be issued for contractors), once the contractors are considered to be taken into payroll that u_empid will be updated by HR manually, we need to replace empid with u_empid. then data will become like this.
now my requirement is there are approximately 60 child tables are there for EMP table, and EMPID is the foreign key for all of them with "on delete cascade" defined on those. Now first i need to create records in all the child tables with actual employee id's (which is u_empid). if the actual id is already exists then just need to update rest of the columns in that table except the EMPID.
Once the records are created with actual empid, then i will issue a delete command to remove dummy employee id's in emp table which will take care of deletion in child tables as well.
I was thinking of two options, one is go with Merge other is write a cursor and handle the update in exception block using when duplicate value on index feature.
Outside of convoluted loop using the SUBSTR() function, is there an easy way to extract each element from a comma-sepearted list that's passed in to a stored proc?
