Application Express :: Function Returning Blob Content

Sep 10, 2012

I am using the below function to return a blob (CSV) content, this is working fine..But i need to modify this function to display headline for the report and fixed width column in CSV ( then user no need to expand the each and every column ).

create or replace function GET_BLOB (
p_query varchar2
) return blob as

l_cursor integer;
l_cursor_status integer;
l_col_count number;
l_desc_tbl sys.dbms_sql.desc_tab2;
l_col_val varchar2(32767);

Application Express :: Validation - PLSQL Function Returning Boolean Bug?

Mar 12, 2013

Application Express 4.1.1.00.23 ( plus all earlier versions that I've ever used)

When using the wizard to create a Validation of type "PLSQL Function returning Boolean", why is it mandatory to enter a value in the text field "Error Message" on the screen that follows? This message is never used as the message actually displayed comes from a PLSQL return statement.

Application Express :: Using Variables In PL/SQL Function Body Returning SQL Query?

If you believe your query is syntactically correct, check the ''generic column'' checkbox below the region source to proceed without parsing.

Application Express :: Scrollable Content Region - Template?

Jul 31, 2013

I have just implemented a "Data Load" function which is the OOTB page type in apex 4.2 which allows the end user to go through a wizard and import csv data into a table.

 When the user is viewing the data to be imported - they have to scroll across the length of the screen (depending on how many columns you are loading). I noticed there is a Region template called "Scrollable Content Region". I tried applying this template to my region, and when this didn't work, to a container region.

The scrollbars appear (horizontally and vertically) but they are greyed out as the region is still at max width and you have to use the browser to scroll instead.I think this looks untidy as the header colour-styling ends, as well as other regions being stretched.

Application Express :: Change Content-disposition In Email Attachment?

Sep 17, 2013

I am using apex_mail (in Apex 4.1) to send emails with an attachment.

v_mail_id := apex_mail.send(
p_to => 'somebody@gmail.com'
...etc...
);
apex_mail.add_attachment( p_mail_id => v_mail_id
,p_attachment => v_image
,p_filename => 'signature.jpg'
,p_mime_type => 'image/jpeg');

Apex creates this as an attachment:

Content-Disposition: attachment;

I would like to change it to inline:

Content-Disposition: inline;

so I can reference it in my email body with <img src="cid:signature.jpg"/>. Well... I hope it is going to be shown inline anyway if I change Content-Disposition.

Currently (with Content-Disposition: attachment;) it works for Outlook, but, for instance, not in Gmail in the browser. Gmail shows the image separately as an attachment.

Is there a way to change the content-disposition with Apex?

I know it is possible to do it with utl_mail, but this is currently not installed in our databases. I need to involve our DBA to set this up, and I don't know if he is willing to do that.

Application Express :: Theme 25 Content Frame - Does Not Display In IE Compatibility View

Mar 20, 2013

Environment:_
APEX Version 4.2.0.00.27
Theme 25

I have a number of pages that use the page template "*One Level Tabs - Content Frame*".End users that use Internet Explorer (versions 8 and 9), when they first visit the application their browser displays it in Compatibility View.They cannot see the side bar on the right-hand side, meaning that often they cannot see a lot of necessary buttons and info!

Their page displays as below: URL....

I am not sure it is possible, nor good practice, to force the app to display in non-compatibility mode.Is there a way to enhance their experience? Or another workaround?

At the moment I am waiting until they log an issue and then informing them to turn compatibility view off, or to use Chrome or Firefox. I'd like to make it better from my end!

PL/SQL :: Storing File In Blob Object And Publishing Content As Email?

Jun 14, 2013

Oracle Database Version: 11.2.0.2.0

We have a requirement below:

The basic requirement is to send an email to the user about order information, with specific subject and the corresponding e-mail body.

Here the E-mail body is very exhaustive, so we are asked to store the content of the e-mail in a word document and store this word document in a tables column of type BLOB.

Once we store this file in the BLOB column, when we send the e-mail to the customer we need to publish the content of the file in the e-mail body and send the e-mail to the user (This E-mail body has some dynamic content as well, that needs to be generated on the fly). This e-mail sending part is done by the shell script.

How can i publish the content of the BLOB object in the e-mail body.

Application Express :: How To Display Blob As Text

Jul 9, 2013

I am developing an apex application using the apex cloud (apex.oraclecorp.com). I am using the DB link to show the data on APEX UI. I have a blob data which is stored in the remote DB, and I want to display the BLOB data as text on a popup or a new page or a download link.  I tried using display only item but APEX throws an error saying that remote DB is not supported. Also, It would be great if I can just show a download link on the UI for the BLOB data, again when I try to select the format as BLOB in the column attributes, When I give the table@dblink as BLOB table I get an error saying that "table@DBLINK not found". Is there any way to display the BLOB data as text or download it which is present in my local DB?

Any problem using 4.2's One Level Tabs - Content Frame page where you have a parent region (of type content frame Body Container ) while number of child regions (of type Hide & Show Region - Borderless ), if you want to re-order them by changing the sequence, it has no effect when you run the page.

Application Express :: Unable To Upload CSV File Through 4.2 (Blob) To Oracle Table

Jan 4, 2013

I needed to create a page on my existing APEX application that would allow the user to upload a file, I followed an online tutorial where the user had created a dummy table and inserted CSV File inserted through APEX into the table. Following that simple example I am able to load the simple CSV file (from tutorial) into a dummy table (from tutorial) but when I attempt to insert actual/dummy data into my actual database (which has a lot more fields of different types), using the exact same process, I am unable to do so.

Ironically, I am unable to insert even dummy values despite the fact that I have been able to insert the same dummy values using SQL Developer. Icing on the cake is that APEX does not produce any error, this lack of debugging feature (especially line by line debugging) is such a pain. Just to add, I can load the values into an Array and can successfully print the delimited values off the array but am still unable to insert the same values into my table. Here is the table that I am attempting to insert into (actual names replaced by Dummyxx):

CREATE TABLE "TABLE"."STG" (
"DUMMY01" NUMBER,
"DUMMY02" NUMBER,
"DUMMY03" NUMBER,
"DUMMY04" DATE,
"DUMMY05" CHAR(3 BYTE),
[code].........

And here's the insertion process:

DECLARE

v_blob_data BLOB;
v_blob_len NUMBER;
v_position NUMBER;
v_raw_chunk RAW(10000);
v_char CHAR(1);
[code]..........

If I run a process to produce the output of the data array onto the screen, the values displayed are in the pattern desired.

Inserting Dummy values instead of values from the Array (v_data_array) to test

EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'insert into TABLE.STG (DUMMY01, DUMMY02 ..... DUMMY65)

VALUES (
60040,
5,
TO_DATE("14-Dec-12","DD-MON-RRRR HH:MI:SS"),
"ABC",
"ABC",
60,
"11DEC1201",
"331",
"SCOTT TIGER",
"MARKETING",
[code].......

Note that all the the CSV does not contain all the fields, the CSV files that are expected to be entered into the system contain 65 Fields whereas the Table has 73 Fields. Also note that the process runs fine through SQL loader that is invoked through a different server which I need to release and hence the attempt to load the table this way. Also, the procedure on the SQL Loader server is quite complex and involved JAVA+Unix Shell Scripts etc. which I would prefer to avoid.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Function Returning Top Value If Not Exists Then Next One?

Nov 20, 2010

how to write a function that returns top value if not exists then next top for combination of customer_id and hierarchy.For instance :

If I've got table

customer_id ,hierarchy, function_code
123 |1 | Z1
123 |2 |67
123 |3 |5B
678 |10 |S2
678 |11 |Z2
345 |2 |11

For the customer ID 123 I want to return Z1, for customer 678 I want to return S2 and for customer ID 345 I want 11

Problem is that I'm new to the concept of looping. I know how to write a function that accepts customer_id as a value write a cursor and then check IF hierarchy = 1 the return FUNCTION_CODE IF hierarchy - 2 THEN ...

but I need something more universal as some of the customers may have hierarchy function 1 and that would be the top one for him but others might have function of hierarchy 10 as top and checking all of the possibilities using if would be just stupid. So how to write something universal ? And of course if function did not find any customer_id then return null.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Function Returning CLOB - Invalid Format

Jan 22, 2011

I have a problem when trying to create a PLSQL function based on an XML extraction query.

I have three dummy tables:

SQL> get create_address
1 create table ADDRESS
2 (
3 id NUMBER not null,
4 house_number NUMBER,
5 house_name VARCHAR2(20),
6 street_name VARCHAR2(30),

[code]....

And the following dummy data for these:

1 insert all
2 into ADDRESS (ID, HOUSE_NUMBER, HOUSE_NAME, STREET_NAME, CITY, COUNTY, POSTAREA, POSTSTREET)
3 values (1, 1, '', 'Tube Street', 'Norwich', 'Norfolk', 'NF12', '2DF')
4 into ADDRESS (ID, HOUSE_NUMBER, HOUSE_NAME, STREET_NAME, CITY, COUNTY, POSTAREA, POSTSTREET)
5 values (2, 5, '', 'Dave Street', 'Edlington', 'Kent', 'CT34', '8GH')
6 into ADDRESS (ID, HOUSE_NUMBER, HOUSE_NAME, STREET_NAME, CITY, COUNTY, POSTAREA, POSTSTREET)

[code]....

So far so good then. But, what I want to create is a function where I can pass in an id value and return the corresponding XML CLOB.

So I try, very simply, this:

SQL> get get_xml_data
1 create or replace function get_xml_data(p_id in number) return clob is

Application Express :: How To Do Selectable Filtering Of Output From Table-function

Jun 26, 2013

I have a report which comes from a table-function.  This produces hundreds of lines of output which the user would like to be able to select and then export just the subset of lines.Looking at the Forum's (this article and this one) this seems possible if you are working with a table where you can re-query the original dataset with just a specific rowset required however as the table-function is generating output on the fly it is hard to rerun the query to reselect the same output for redisplay.  Also most of the reports are working with interactive reports - whilst this is just static output. Is there a way to redisplay the information which has already been shown in an filtered way with check boxes?Is there then a way to have hidden fields which are not shown when the check boxes are selected but which can be shown in the "filtered" view? I am using Apex 4.0 at the moment on an Oracle 10g instance.
