Aug 28, 2013I installed 11g in my system.
Then I used to login as username@admin/password.
It returns error as ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
After that I tried sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
it returns as ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
and then i set ORACLE_SID and then try sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
it returns ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.

Backup & Recovery :: Moving From One Windows Environment To Another Linux Environment?
Jun 19, 2012I'm trying to move my backup sets from windows database environment, to OEL 5.7 environment on another server.
I've found a manual [URL] by which I am trying to do it.I took backup sets from last night's backup using RMAN,and the current parameter(initSID.ora) file from the running live database.Now i need to configure control files in the pfile accordingly.
1. can i take current control files from the running system, to restore and recover backup sets from last night, to the state the database was at backup time?
2. how can i find out if control files are backed up and know by RMAN? "list backup completed after '2012-JUN-19';" >> gives me Archive redo logs, datafiles, but don't see the control files(or don't reconize them).

Form is compiling successfully. But when I enter the User ID It is showing the error FRM-40815 Variable GLOBAL.GZAOFFE_NOFDAY does not exist. Like this it is showing for all global variables.

I have written a PL/SQL code to display the image of the respective book for every new record. E.g Book1 should display image1, book2 displays image2 and so on. This should happen at runtime. The code is:

Memory Max Target Is Defined As 34 GB
Jul 5, 2012i am running 11.2.0.1 on HP-UX PA-RISC (64-bit). My Memory max target is defined as 34 GB and memory target is 32 GB on the database. The host has 256 GB physical memory. i see memory utlization is almost 90% used when seen from Grid Control on the host and wondering, what's going on? when i see into more details, i see the following 3 HP Processes consuming around 3.6 GB memory and rest very small is consumed by Oracle processes. Who's using the rest of the memory?

User Defined Data Type
Jun 19, 2012I am trying to create & use a new data type but keep getting a ora-0902 invalid data type error running on 10g express. The create type and select statements execute fine and select confirms the ssn_t is a type. The create table statement fails with the invalid data type error.
Here is an example.

Apr 11, 2012Can we override the pre defined functions in oracle. I am able to do this in my schema. But if DB server contains more than one schema do I need to write the same procedure in all schemes.
we can call the same procedure with schema name from different schemes also . But is there any way to over ride the actual function provided by oracle (just like over riding the equals method of object class in java).
