Jan 25, 2012sqlldr works fine. but, i have primary keys defined in the table. So the SQL loader throws error that
SQL*Loader-951: Error calling once/load initialization
ORA-26002: Table WD has index defined upon it.
How should i change this load type to "normal" in sqlldr ? I think sqlldr made for bulk load purpose only.

Oct 9, 2010When as scott, I run the following command select * from tab, I get the output that has been attached as pdf. This output contain some strange objects like-

and as per the attachment these are all of type table. When I try to delete them-

Sep 21, 2011The SQL loader somehow is loading only first record. The data file is a csv and the end of line character is a new line. Some text fields have multiple new lines.

Automate Multi User Concurrent Data Loads
Nov 15, 2011We are designing a three tiered system (client, application/web server, database server) that will allow clients through a web interface to select a text file from the operating system and load that file into a intermediate table (import database table). Many users will do this concurrently and data will load into a single table. The text files come in monthly for about 100 firms. No user is able to insert or update the data of another users data (there is a check out system). Their are about 30 to 40 users that will be using the system doing various functions but it is possible for 10 to 20 users to import data at one time. The files can have anywhere from 2000 to 25000 records at a record length of 398.I am concerned about having a good design strategy as well as decent performance.
Problems with each of the Oracle loaders.
1) External tables - Can not read data text files on the application server(which is where they want the text files to go) secondly you cannot create a instance of a external table. Multiple users will be using the external table to point to different text files and loading at the same time.
2) Sqlloader - is mainly a OS level tool and I am not sure how I could programatically point it to a different text file each time a user wants to load. The client will have to have the ability through code to point sqlloader to the correct file name.
I had a creative approach and was wondering if this would work. I would like to use external tables just like a connection pool. I would propose first a scheduled OS job to move files to the database server. I would create about 20 external tables with 20 different directory objects. Using a stored procedure for the user to call and pass in file name and audit info as needed. I would use a Load lock pool table (my invention) to load the name or a code for the external table in use. The procedure loads this code into my load lock pool table when a external table is in use and deletes the name when the load is completed. The procedure would check through a series of if statements whether a particular external table was in use. If in use (exist in load lock pool table) I would check the next available external table until a external table not in use is encountered. Now potentially 20 users at one time but not likely would be laoding into the same table at one time.My questions
1) Could Oracle handle this strategy? What do I need to consider performance wise with the possibility of so many users loading into a single table at one time?
2) Do any of you maybe have another strategy to do this?

where xmlldr.ctl is the following:

I was playing with different CHARACTERSET, but some special characters e.g. "greater than or equal" do not get loaded/displayed correctly in the database. Also tried changing NLS_LANG registry key and following some advices in the Oracle doc

Jan 3, 2013I am trying to set the intial value of "Select List" to APP_USER the only first time when the page loads and use it to filter the report, any other time once the page is loaded the user should select another value from the Select List then click the submit button to display the details in the report, i tried to achieve this by setting "select List" creating LOV for Select List then set default=APP_USER but now the problem any time you click the submit button it reset the "Select List" from selected value back to default so how can you achieve this to set the value of Select List only the first time the page loads?

Aug 25, 2010I am having a similar problem like above ONLY in UNIX box where my datafile is delimited by "|". The last field is ITM_CMNT declared as VARCHAR2(60) in Oracle. When I have exactly 60bytes in the last field it rejects the record saying actual 61 and max allowed is 60. If i reduce it to < 60bytes then it is stored as a value enclosed with double quotes. The enclosing double quote is on the next line.

Aug 12, 2013I have some Javascript in an Apex page, running in 'Execute when page loads'. It does some stuff to a results grid. It works fine on page load, but then doesn't run when I page through, or sort the grid. I presume this is because the grid is being sorted / paged using Ajax, which means the page isn't being fully loaded. Is there anywhere else I can put the code so it gets applied to the grid on sorts and paging?

The get Response procedure is a wrapper procedure exposed to Java to pass values. The Process Response procedure is a main procedure where all logics and business rules are handled.
The Problem is:
How can I pass the values from get Response procedure to Process Response procedure. So that rules and validations are applied. Please note the p_ticket_tab may have many ticket numbers corresponding to p_call_request_id.
Values E.g. :

I'm new to this XML DB thing and also this is my first post.
I'm trying to populate collection type from XMLType. I was able to populate a table from XMLType but any way to populate the collection type. Here is the description of my problem:
Object Type:

I have a physical table which is created when I registered a schema.
A table (Temp_Result) got created with column SYS_NC_ROWINFO$ which is of XMLType.
As you can see this is only a temporary table which will store the response XML which I want to finally get it to collection type.
XML to parse:

So each object in the collection is one TFS tag. how to implement this?

In this way i am able to access the variable inside typeObj3. But problem is i am getting error "ORA-01427 single-row subquery returns more than one row" when i pass more that one typeObj2.

In first run, 16,36,897 were inserted successfully in around 38 seconds.But in second run, 54,62,952 records had to be inserted, but process failed after 708 seconds with following error :

Bulk Update In Oracle
Mar 28, 2012I have performance issue with the bulk update. I have 2 tables one with 21 millions of data and the other table with 2 millions of data.here the requirement is to update the table which is having 21 millions with the other tables data(which is having 2 million records) based on some matching criteria.
The procedure is taking 9 hours to update the table(which is having 21 millions data). I have created required indexes on table also.But the performance is not good.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Bulk Collections And Current OF
Sep 2, 2011I have a driver table from which I need to update another table while, at the same time, record the fact that I have processed each record on the driver table.
The driver table will contain around 3.5 million records, therefore I intended to handle this using some bulk collections, with a LIMIT option so that I don't hit any memory problems.
I would also prefer to commit in batches, or at least handle exceptions using the SAVE EXCEPTION clause. The problem is I seem to be running into an error when trying to make the update to the driver table (the commented out code). With this in, I get the error:
ORA-01410: invalid ROWID
ORA-06512: at "CUST_MAIL_UPDATE", line 217
ORA-06512: at line 38
Can the CURRENT OF not work with the FORALL? What is my best approach here? If I use a FOR LOOP I lose my SAVE EXCEPTIONS exception handling.
