Server Utilities :: Restore A Package Only With Original Import Utility?
Jun 28, 2013
I am trying to restore a package only from a dump file that was exported by original exp command. I know you can do it with data pump, but unfortunately this is dump file is not exported by expdp. Can I do that. I really do not want to import the whole database.
Is it possible to import a dump file using impdp data pump utility on oracle 10g where the export dump was taken using traditional exp utility and vice versa.
I am try to import 4G dump in Oracle 11R2 version, in that we have around 9000+ Package Body which is taking huge time than other objects (about 8 to 12 hrs) and also it is expecting lots of system space (roughly about 10GB).
I have tried both parallel and non-parallel.how to improve speed of the package body import.
Details about the Schema & Import No. of objects in Schema
SQL> select object_type,count(1) from user_objects GROUP BY ROLLUP( object_type);
OBJECT_TYPE COUNT(1) ------------------- ---------- FUNCTION 248 INDEX 5161 JAVA CLASS 471 JAVA RESOURCE 1 JAVA SOURCE 16 LIBRARY 1
We are migratingfrom [IBM P5 - AIX 5.3 - Oracle DB 10.2.0.1 64bit]to [IBM P7 - AIX 6.1 - Oracle DB 10.2.0.5 64bit]
The new database is already up and running, our next step now is the following: 1. Create Tablespaces (done) 2. Export the Database from P5 3. Import the dump to P7.
We have this following options:
I. Use a Windows XP workstation 32bit with Oracle 10.2.0.1 Database software to export from P5, then import the dump to P7. (Export/Import Utility 10.2.0.1 Windows 32bit) II. Use the Export Utility of the P7 (10.2.0.5 AIX 64bit) to do the export and import. III. Use the Export Utility of P5 (10.2.0.1 AIX 64bit) then use the Import Utility of P7 (10.2.0.5 AIX 64bit)
BTW, our colleague tried to do the following: A. Use Windows - Export Utility 10.1.0.2.0 - 32bit to make a dump of our database (Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 AIX 64bit) B. Use Windows - Import Utility 10.1.0.2.0 - 32bit to import the dump file from step A to our new database (Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 AIX 64bit)
But after issuing imp system/password@NEWDB file=(a.dmp, b.dmp... c.dmp) full=y ignore=y statistics=none
The import seems to hang here...importing SYSTEM's objects into SYSTEM
I met some problems with data pump tools. We have a large db(oracle 10.2.0.5, single instance on hpux v11.11, data about 8TB), while we wanna migrate to Linux ia 64bit, 10.2.0.5 RAC. The migrate window is around 20 hours, so the window can NOT be assign more hours.
As we consider if impdp & expdp work can start together, that will be save a lot of time. So I wonder if there are any ways to implement this or any other ways can speed up and make the data integrate better?
I exported three databases : servicedesk, report and mostcmdb on server A to a dumpfile. Moved them to similar dump location on server B. Now, I want to import them into B by using:
I have a From which take Logical Backup through oracle export utility. This Form work fine when i Start OCJ4 but when i want to take backup after running oracle Forms & Report services its not take backup.
My Question is dose Oracle Forms & Report Services (Standalone) Support data backup through Export (exp) utility. I have install Oracle Forms and Report Services (Standalone) on Window XP (SP-3).
This message for my clarification,we have two schemas MAD_LIVE and MAD_TEST we want to take data from MAD_LIVE to MAD_TEST for particular period of time. way to import data from MAD_LIVE to MAD_TEST for particular period
My SCHEMA MAD_LIVE using from year 2010 till now,we want to take only 2012 data from MAD_LIVE and restore it in MAD_TEST.

I have written a shell script that will execute a procedure. The input parameters are constant.
#!/bin/ksh sqlplus user@server.com<<EOF set serveroutput on; var Return_Code number; var Return_Message varchar2(4000); exec test_pkg.Insert_test('IDD', null, 'BATCH',:Return_Code, :Return_Message);
Now I have to call same procedure but the input is a csv file.
Is there a way to call a procedure using csv file, I cannot load the table using SQL Loader because there is a complicated logic.For every row in CSV there should be 3 rows inserted into table and 2 rows updated.
As of JAN 2, three rows have to be inserted with dates JAN2, JAN 3, JAN 4 and 2 rows ( 3ODEC and 29DEC have to be updated). Also these days have to be business days.
So all this code is in procedure that uses a DB2 package for business dates.Instead of using sql ldr , if would like pass the csv file as input param.
i am working on oracle 11g r2. is there any way to go back to oracle 9i with use of import/export utility. Should i take downgraded export from oracle 11g for oracle 9i.
We have a table in Oracle9i database with around 14 million records and we would like to import that table into 10g database with similar structure. We have exported the table from 9i database and would like to import the table into 10g database within same schema name with different table name as we already have the table with same name in 10g database in same schema. Is it possible to import a table with different table name?
We have a way around to import the table into 10g database in another schema and then push the data into our main table but want to know whether the above requirement is possible.
I have Live Server with 11g R2 with Dataguard on server 2008 server 64 bit. I exporting the DMP from live and importing in 10g on Server 2003 32 bit. All tables are not imported.
I have taken an export using expdp of schema, data of the schema spread across different tablespaces , now i want to import the data to only one tablespace.
I am getting the below error when I import a table from Prod to Dev. I understand this error will be occured if length of the datatype is low. First I got the error when the datatype(length) which is 25 for the column PASSWORD column.Then I increased the length of this column to 45, then it was imported successfully.
why am facing the error when the datatye and length for this table is same in prod and dev? What are the possible ways to import the data without increasing the PASSWORD column length?

I was asked to do export/import of some schemas from 10g(linux) to 11g(AIX) using original expor/import method. I did not consider the character set and started doing export and import. while exporting, I get questionable statistics error in export log file. In the import log, I see the error like CREATE DATABASE LINK "xxxxxxxxxxxxx" CONNECT TO "xxxx" IDENTIFIED BY...
