I have taken export from ORACLE 11g R1 64-bit software and now when I am trying to import it on ORACLE 11g R1 32-bit version, I am not able to do so. Is it possible to import from export file take from 64-bit to 32-bit version?
Can I directly upgrade Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 From RHEL-4 platform to Oracle 11g Rel 2 on RHEL -5 platform?I have the export dump and cold backup of Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 database.
We need to test mean time to restore from rman backup. So can we restore the data file to new location on the same server without effecting the Database.?
Just wanted to know if 11XE (R2,32bit) will install and work correctly on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64?
I would like to install either the Oracle 11g Client and/or ODP.NET(x86 and x64) on the same machine, would this work? I cannot find any documentation regarding this and so far I am having some issues. At this point in time I have 11XE and ODP.Net (both x86) on this x64 machine under separate Oracle_homes and I cannot connect to the XE database from either SQLPlus client installed with the respective Oracle_Home..
Can I use a 32bit client to connect to a 64bit server?
"How to Migrate Oracle 11gR2 32bit to 11gR2 64bit on Microsoft Windows"
Currently we are having Microsoft Windows Server 2003 standard Edition service pack 2 and we are trying to migrate it to microsoft windows server 2008 Release 2 standard Edition
We have a 2 node RAC installation on IBM AIX 5.3 with Oracle Standard Edition. We need to create a manual standby database (becoz Standard Edition does not allow Dataguard confign). Can we do this on a different platform (eg: Linux/Windows). This is to make use of existing servers for the standby environment.
On production environment i am running Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) on windows server 2003. and take full compress backup through rman .
I have create a new machine from scratch OS (windows 2003 server) Database Oracle 10g R2 (10.2.0.4) same architecture as live,
Can i standup a instance with the backup i have taken from my live database. And if yes .......how can i ......means i want to take backup from live and restore it on new created machine
We have Oracle 11g on Windows and Daily full Netbackup on Tape @3:00 Am and on disk @3:00 Pm .When we try to restore DB with following command it restore control file from Disk and Not from Tape .
RMAN> RUN{ 2> allocate channel t1 type 'sbt_tape' parms='SBT_LIBRARY=C:WINDOWSsystem32orasbt.dll'; SEND 'NB_ORA_POLICY=ORACLE_DBMS_KTPH12_PROD_BTS_Daily, NB_ORA_SERV=b-nimhp1sys101, NB_ORA_CLIENT= b-btshp1dbs213';4> restore until time "TO_DATE('17-02-2013 03:00:00','dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss')" controlfile to 'G:oradataTLPRDdcontrol01.ctl' from autobackup; 5> }
Why it is not restring from Tape and Restoring from DISK?
I am using DataBase Express 11g as a development site.I have developed a Delphi GUI to run with it. (32bit). All runs as expected! My associate has a Windows 7 (64bit) machine. Express installation does not supply an ODBC driver. DataBase Express installs without problem, but it is the connectivity that is the problem
I understand that 11g(full) supplies both 32 & 64 OBDC drivers.I do not want to install the full 11g database if it can be avoided.
This is going to be more of a problem the more 64bit machines get into the workplace. Is there an alternative connection method available?
I am trying to upgrade the database 32bit from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 version in Linux 32 bit . I faced the version incompatibility error during patch set installation and hence ran the patchset installation with -ignoresysprereqs option.
Now during the patchset installation i encountered the below error in in the install logfile. ************************************** INFO: Start output from spawned process: INFO: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INFO: INFO: /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/bin/genclntsh INFO: genclntsh: genclntsh: Could not locate /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/network/admin/shrept.lst INFO: make: INFO: *** [client_sharedlib] Error 1 INFO: INFO: End output from spawned process. Provide me the certified os and versions for oracle db 10gr2
I want to load lakhs of records into a table. My problem is when after loading the ¼ of records my process is abend due to the size of my rollback segment area. I don't have an option to increase it. So, Is there any way to go for intermediate commits when I am using the imp or sqlldr utilities to load the entire data without abend?
I decided to work on Oracle.I downloaded Oracle 10g for windows 32bit to run on XP. But i can not finish installation.
Here is what i've done so far.
1. I installed Microsoft Loopback Adapter and configured it with 192.168.1.10 for IP and 255.255.255.0 for NetMask. 2. I ran setup. The installation holds on a while on "Loading Sun JDK extensions" step. 3. The installation can not execute "Checking network configuration requirements" on the "product-specific prerequisite checks" step.
I've been trying to install it for a few days but i could not go one step further.
P.S: I could not URL. Here are the images. (remove the blanks on addressline.[URL]....
We are planning upgrade three 32-bit 9i databases (on three physical machines) to a single 64-bit 11g VMware box. Average size of DB is 300GB.Planning to move the first 9i DB by the end of this month, followed by 2 and 3.How to do this using hot backup?
We are migrating our servers from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10.In the process we are migrating our databases from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. DO i find any migration guides supporting the same.My plans/Options for Migration are.
1)Using Datapump 2)Transportable Table Space 3)Using RMAN
I have an understanding that the code written in Forms 6i will be executed by the oracle forms 6i run time on the client machine whether it be a sql/plsql .
e.g. i am using the following query in the procedure( of forms 6i interface ).
insert into emp_remote select ename from emp@db1;
so where the above query would be executed , on client machine or server named db1.
(1) Move my 10gR2 database from 32-bit Linux to 11gR2 64-Bit Linux (using an RMAN backup from 10gR2 restored on the 64-bit machine) then
(2) Bring up the database on 64-bit hardware and then upgrade to 11.2.0.3 (64-Bit) [Without installing the 10.2.0.3 64-Bit software]
Haven't tried restoring to 11.2.0.3 from a RMAN 10.2.0.3 backup. I was trying not to have to install the Oracle 10.2.0.3 software for 64-bit on the 64-bit machine. Was hoping to go directly to 11.2.0.3 (64-bit).
I am familiar with tool Netca. However there is one more utility exist for the same functionatlty which is netmgrI checked with many DBAs for the exact difference, however I did not get the best answer from them. I also have checked in google but not exactly got the difference. list the exact difference between those 2 tools (netca, netmgr)
I got Saturday rman level 0 backup and sunday, monday, tuesday & Wednesday level 1 backup.got some issue and i have to restore the backup with minimum data loss. path for restoration of the backup. We can restore 1st level 0 backup, but how to apply others level 1 backup on that.
We have a 10.2.0.4 database running on HPUX platform which uses EMC for it's storage. We want to migrate the database to an AIX server. Is it possible to just clone the luns where the datafiles live using the EMC utilities and then bring up a database on the AIX server since both platform use big endian for the files?
In my present env, Oracle runs in Solaris 10 and I am planning to restore it to Linux5. I have read thro oracle docs, metalink that cross platform restore with different endian can be done by TTS. But it says that tablespace shud be in read-only until we plug in it in the dest server.
