When I query the production database I see that there is one row in the DBA_2PC_PENDING view. But I dont' know how to identify which are the databases that are involved in this distributed transaction. That is my first issue - how to identify which are the two databases that are involved in the distributed transaction?

Oct 2, 2012I want to compare two users on different databases, actaully there are two users one in user a on database a and another user b on database b they have same tables, and everytime when a table or object is created on user a (database a) i will take the table name ,procedure or any other object from user_objects based on ddl_created date and then i need to recreate the same on user b on database b, is there a way to find out tables which are not only created but also i need to check whether if there is any column added or any change in procedure or any other objects.Is there a way to generate the scripts based on list of objects selected from user_objects.

Each database is a different customer so for reasons of security we have requested that this be split into 6 virtual machines with one database per machine.
The consultant suggested that they could install the 11g database once and then just make copies (which would all have the same instance name. We are told that the TNS names can be configured so clients are directed to the right database.

Server Administration :: Multiple Plans For A Particular SQL
Nov 1, 2011Lately, there has been a handful of intermittent performance issues and it all boiled down to the fact that Oracle happened to choose a "bad" plan to execute them for a just a set of bind variables.
I understand Oracle must be doing it for a good reason but it just worked for us when we ensured a single plan is always used. We did it either by creating indexes or sometimes out of no other choice forcing a particular plan (manual plan).
Now, as a proactive measure, I am interested in identifying if there are more such cases. I managed to find about 23 such cases by using the query below. I am planning to regularly check the report generated by the below query.
Select Sql_Id,Count(*) From
(Select Distinct Sql_Id,Plan_Hash_Value From Dba_Hist_Sqlstat where plan_hash_value <> 0 )
Group By Sql_Id
having count(*) > 1
But before we really start addressing them I wanted to know if it is correct to consider that it is always a bad thing to happen if Oracle chooses multiple plans? I am not saying all such cases are giving problems but we did see that a handful of such problems boiled down to this case.

However I keep coming up against 'PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist'..how to handle db_links using a cursor in a pl/sql block? The code is as follows:

Same Server Two Databases

I already installled oracle software for oracle_home C:/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1 for database DEV.
Now, I want to create new database with different oracle_home on same server with oracle_home as C:/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_2 and SID as TEST.
Do I have to istall oracle software again ? if yes, what about inventoryfiles in C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory ? wont they be overwritten ?

OS - UNIX AIX-6.1
My query is what is the best way to move the database to new server(UNIX AIX 6.1)?
a) can i upgrade the database to 11.2.0.3 before moving to new server or its better to move the database in 11.2.0.2 and then upgrade there?
b)is export and import of database can work for moving this?
c) RMAN backup and restoration can be done for moving databases?
d)simply moving all the related files to new server and start upgrading it from there?
Created Two Databases On Same Server With Same Schema
Apr 21, 2011Using suppress triggers options in golden gate. I was trying to work on the same but it doesn't seem to work at least for me.
Scenario:
Database Version 11.2.0.2
GoldenGate v11
OS Windows
Created two databases on the same server with same schmea idea was to replicate change from one database to other. One of the tables in the source database had trigger(every insertion in the table would cause a row to be inserted into a diff table). if row was inserted in table A it will insert a new row in table B . the same records will pass on target but the trigger defined on table A should not trigger on target as it has already fired on Source .
I tried using suppresstriggers but it doesnt seem to work everytime the trigger is getting fired on target database.

My question is what are the advantages and disadvantages having one single tablespace versus multiple tablespace?
Easy to maintain when you have single tablespace. but hard to track the IO issues if you have one single tablespace.

Jul 17, 2013I'm try to connect to databases with DBLINK. It works, but I drop the dblink to do it again in the final server. The problem that I now is that there is not any DBLINK in my database but I can see the data of the other database (with select 1 from DATABASE.TABLE)
Is my database saving the data of the other database without de DBLINK?
