I have created a procedure which i am executing in one database, in between the procedure i need to connect to diffrent database, how can i do it..

note that I can't use dblinks as i don't have enough access rights and privileges on neither of the databases.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm try to connect to databases with DBLINK. It works, but I drop the dblink to do it again in the final server. The problem that I now is that there is not any DBLINK in my database but I can see the data of the other database (with select 1 from DATABASE.TABLE)
Is my database saving the data of the other database without de DBLINK?
We are getting a consultant to upgrade an Oracle 9i installation to 11g R2. The current installation has 6 different databases installed on the same server. Each database is a different customer so for reasons of security we have requested that this be split into 6 virtual machines with one database per machine.
The consultant suggested that they could install the 11g database once and then just make copies (which would all have the same instance name. We are told that the TNS names can be configured so clients are directed to the right database.

I have the task to migrate the total databases(Exact copy to be moved to another server).The current server is going for format.After I did the following steps I am getting the tablespaces(databases)-4 sizes same ,but I am facing issue like some default tablespaces i.e temp,system are not matching.

However I keep coming up against 'PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist'..how to handle db_links using a cursor in a pl/sql block? The code is as follows:

I've written a simple send mail procedure and it works well, though the parameter list is large and I'd like to be able to format the code for readability, i.e.:

'Subject', 'Message');

What would I replace ??? with to extend the procedure to the next line?
I know this sounds like a very elementary question, but I've yet to figure it out via queries on these forums or Google. Perhaps I'm not choosing the right words.

Below are the data for rows that I want to insert into CUSTOMER_PRODUCT table from a stored procedure.
Instead of making round trips twice to insert these two rows, I looking for a way to pass in the data for both those rows and then insert them from within the stored procedure in one shot.
The stored procedure will be invoked by Java and .NET.

I'm writing a Procedure which Updates or Inserts data in Multiple tables. Selected fields of 10 tables need to be updated or Inserted. For this I created a table which comprises of fields related to all 10 tables. Then I write Procedure. Under this I create a Cursor which uploads the data from the newly created table which contains different fields of 10 tables. Then I write Update and Insert statements one by one for all 10 tables.

I found out that the procedure can only accepts a single column. When I run this code it works fine because I am using a single column on the SQL statement.

I need to create a procedure where I can pass an task number to execute the sql statements which are in the column 'sql_scripts'. Something like this:
create or replace sp_run_scripts (v_task number)

select sql_scripts into v_scripts from tbcontrol where task = v_task
execute immediate v_scripts;
end;
But, here I'll have some problems:
- The script will have semicolons (EXECUTE IMMEDIATE doesn't support);
- If I put a begin/end like a PL/SQL script, I can only run DML statements because DDL statements have implicit commit.
- I can't use a cursor for execute each statement at a time because the scripts have multiples-rows. Even if I search for semicolons to 'separate' the scripts in the cursor (using SUBSTR and INSTR functions), I'll have problems with the semicolons between '' (quotations marks).
Now, I admit I'm lost.
Is there another way to make this process work?

We have various related table. I need to use this stored procedure and extract information from an excel sheet into the multiple tables.
I have 2 tables order_items and items.
Order_items Items
Item_id Item_id
Quantity Price
In normal sql statement: select sum(order_items.quantity*items.price) sales_price
from order_items,items
where order.item_id=items.item_id;
I have to put this logic in either a stored procedure or Function just to calculate sum(order_items.quantity*items.price) and store the aggregated value as Sales_price in DB. Then we have to call this from Informatica Stored procedure Transformation where we will have only one output port as Sales_price,this is to load into summary table. All the aggregate calculations and joining of 2 tables should be done on DB side and only one output should be populated when we execute this procedure.
The goal is to create a stored procedure that will retrieve multiple values from a table.
GUI is in Java and they will trigger our procedure to show list of all employees and their roles , doj etc.
So I wrote the following procedure.

I'm using sql developer, stored procedure is compiled and I can manually run it by right clicking on the procedure and click 'Run'.
When I intend to run it by executing the script "Execute Procedure name ", I get errors.
In SQL Developer, I open new SQL file and key in

Highlight it and run the script, here is the list of errors that I get.

Instead of using cursor, is there a way to use multiple parameters and insert the data retrieved from select column_name from table into these parameters and build it in a stored procedure. I tried something like below which did not work.

I am able to connect to DATABASE from SQLAssistant only when I provide string like ABOVE........If I dont mention the SERVICE, m unable to connect to DB.Now the biggest issue is with SQL Developer.....m not at all able to connect to DB using SQL Developer.
I have installed oracle developer 6i. in sqlplus i want to put my username and password but nothing in the connect string field.
