Oct 17, 2010The application user owns the application schema which owns all the database objects in this schema. Now 50 of our developers need access to this application schema but giving away the password for the application user is risk as "Drop user application cascade" and wipe off all the objects. The option i have is to create 50 separate users with tablespace as application and grant all rights to application schema.

Aug 23, 2010I am using Oracle Internet Directory to store user information and OID delegation administratibe services for user entry. An an admin I created a privileges group called admins. Users belonging to this group can create user, delete users, edit users, and edit groups. I created 'User A' and assigned him to the group. Now 'User A' creates 'User B' and assignes him to the group. However when 'User B' creates 'User C' he gets the error [LDAP: error code 50 - Insufficient Access Rights].
This happens even though 'User B' belongs to the admin group which has the privilege to create users.

- i have created a login form in one canvas.
- also tree node Hierarchy form created on another canvas. now we want to login through login screen, after login only those forms should show in tree Hierarchy which users have rights. for this purpose we want to pass the parameter of userid before connecting to tree node form through the following query

Every thing is working but when we click on button in login form at that time parameter.p_userid will return null. because above code is define on button click in login screen, i cannot understand where i need to define the above code .
TEMP Tablespace Full
Aug 20, 2010I tried to create an index on a large volume table(approx 9 GB) and I got the below error message:-
ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace TEMP
The size of our TEMP tablespace is 3GB and currently it is showing as full.
This tablespace is locally managed and we are not running any other operation on this test database at the moment.
We need to delete data from this table based on a column value, so I was planning to create an index on that column.
I saw on the net that one of the proposed solution is :-
alter tablespace TEMP default storage (pctincrease 1);
alter tablespace TEMP default storage (pctincrease 0);
alter tablespace TEMP coalesce;
but it was mentioned that this does not work with Locally Managed Tablespaces.
We are currently using Oracle 9.2.0.7.0 production release installed on Linux platform(Linux 2.6.9-89.0.25.ELsmp #1 SMP i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux)
I increased the size of TEMP tablespace to 12 GB but the index creation still failed with the same error.

do we have any procedure to clean up temporary data from tablespaces.
and does it effects to database anything.

Notify When Temp Tablespace Is Full?
Aug 3, 2012on my 11.2 DB comes from time to time to situation that the temp tablespace runs full. It longs for only couple of seconds and when the dba notice it, the tablespace is already almost empty. Is it a way somehow to create like a "callback-notifier" that fires f.e. when temp tablespace is for let's say 70% full. That "callback-notifier" will run the sql-statement to look in v$session, v$sort_usage, v$process, v$parameter for the problem sessions.

As of now, the access rights are same for all the windows users logging into the Oracle application with the same Oracle user Id.
But now, we want to improve our security by granting different levels of rights to the users based on their Network Id even though they use the same Oracle User Id to log into the application.
We are not looking for the users to be identified externally.
