I have the following select query that works perfectly fine. Returns 25 rows based on the descending order of the price.But, I want add one more expression to this list of columns in this query (apart from customer_id).

the expression should look like Cust-01 for the first customer from the below query all the way to Cust-25 for the last customer.But how can I can generate 01 to 25 in oracle?

Every prospect person in the prospect table are approached with a proposal. This proposal record is stored in the proposal table. Proposal is managed by many primary and proposal managers over the period of proposal. They are assigned the proposal in the assignment table. Primary managers have an assignment type 'PM' and proposal manager have a assignment type of 'PS'

i Need to make below1 and 2 changes to the script.

1-when proposal is current (proposal.active_ind = 'Y' ) then extract only currently assigned primary and proposal managers (assignment active_ind = 'Y') and these managers should be assigned after the proposal has started (assignment.start_date >= proposal.start_date )

2-when proposal is not current (proposal.active_ind = 'N' ) then extract even not curRent assigned primary and proposal managers (not use this in criteria assignment active_ind = 'Y') and these managers should be assigned only after the proposal has started (assignment.start_date >= proposal.start_date )

Primary/Proposal Manager column : Format to print as below:

All Primary managers seperated with space "/" between and all proposal managers after that and "*" at the end

For Example : Mary Steve Roger / Chris Danny Veronica * also, current script only extracts 5 primary managers and 4 proposal managers but thats ok. i can put 10 max(decode statements in the output cause i think they cannot have more than 10 managers.

how do you generate serial numbers? i have an invoice where i have to add items, so i want the numbering to start from 1 everytime i start a new form and increment by 1 as i i enter a new record. For this i have put my code in when-new-record-instance but problem is if i delete a record and enter a new one, the serial number starts from the nex number.

For ex. if i have 4 items with serial numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and i delete the item at no. 3 and add a new item , the serial number comes as 5.

I have following requirement. Let say i have to generate a range based on "start number" and "end number" dynamically.Some kind of hash buckets.

e.g Start Number : 1 and End Number : 1001.

Also i want to divide that range based on some dynamic value like for above example 10 ranges of 100 each. and both 1 and 1001 should be included only once and the next row start number cannot be same as previous row end number.

Means

Range 1 1 -101
Range 2 102-200
Range 3 201-300
...
Range 10 901-1001

Is there any way of doing it automatically. I tried with Model clause. it works fine for even cases but for odd i have issues also when i take small start and end number i get an error.

Maintain Large Tables / Cleanup Data From Our Tables

I have to cleanup data from our tables (Production Environment) that contain millions of rows. The question is apart from the solution of the partitioned tables what alternative recommended solution suggests Oracle?

To delete these tables by using a cursor PL/SQL block or to import all the database and in the tables that we want to remove the old rows to use the QUERY option of the data pump utility.

I have used both ways and i have to admit that datapump solution is much much faster than the deletion that suffers from I/O disk.The question again is which method from these two is more reliable and less risky for the health of the database.

I came across an implementation where data from DB2 tables are moved to Oracle tables, for BI solutioning, using some oracle procedures called from MS SQL DTS packages which are scheduled jobs.Just being curious, can this be done using OWB or ODI rather than the above detour. I suppose there are some changes being done in those procedures before the data is being loaded into Oracle tables, can't this be done using OWB/ODI? Can it be scheduled too as jobs using OWB/ODI?

I have problem with query ( i'll only use DUAL table for example):

I need to concatenate only columns with name starting with C and add separator between them. Is there any function do concatenate columns using separator like:

DBMS_SOMETHING.SOME_FUNCTION(',', C1,C2,C3,C4,C5)
FROM DUAL T;

Or I must do like this:

SELECT T.DUMMY P1,

problem is that I have 3.000+ columns in 23 different selects :/

There is nothing more information in alert_standby.log file and the same file is visible when we checked with ASMCMD utility. Check the attached print sceen and suggest. Below mentioned system information.

Procedure To Generate Crosstable From Data Inside Calves_per_breed Table

I have two Tables, the one table is called (calves_per_breed) and contains all my query results. I then have another table (calves_per_breed_crosstable) which is used to place the generated count values in calves_per_breed to create a crosstable from the count data into calves_per_breed_crosstable.

I'm using the following procedure to generate the crosstable from the data inside the calves_per_breed table:

Now this procedure works 100%, the only problem is it generates the ENTIRE table. if you know how a crosstable works, thetop right section of the table is exactly the same as the bottom left section of the table. I wish to optimize my code so that it only generates the values for the needed columns, and not ALL the columns, as values are generated twise now, which increases the query time! Here is a tipical output of the kalwers_per_ras_crosstable:

Note: You will notice that i used a Column called TID with string values to indicate the vertical columns for the crosstable. The Vertical Columns are the same as the top Columns(which are actual columns, and not row values as the vertical columns)

Combine Tables With Union But Limit Number Of Records?

Updated to Add: In a last ditch search, I found my answer with ROWNUM <= 1 in the Where clause. It works and I can go from there with what I want to do.

I have a website that pulls similar information from multiple queries using a Union-based query. I want to only pull 1 record from one section, two from another, and 5 from the third. I've so far found LIMIT but haven't been able to get it to work in that way. Is it possible to limit each query in the union as I am looking to do?

The query is:

Recursion - Concatenation On Database?

We are using Oracle 11g (11.1.0).I'm not all that prolific when it comes to writing queriesI have a table...

Table1

oid narr parent

2 more narrative 1
3 a bit of test narrative 2

Simply put, I need a query that will recurse up through each rows parent and return the concatination of all parents and itself narrative.

Expected output
------------------------------------
some narrative
more narrative some narrative
a bit of test narrative more narrative some narrative

The requirement is that this is one single query as it will be called from a third party application we are using. We need this recursion and concatenation to be done on the database, as while we have control over the database queries that get executed we have no control over the internal source of this third party applications.I have been digging around for a bit, I have tried using a combination of JOINS and UNIONS but keep hitting a brick wall.

The best I could come up with is...
SELECT concat(n1.narr, n2.narr) FROM table1 n1
JOIN table1 n2 ON n1.oid = n2.parent

But this only returns two lines, for oid's 2 and 3, and only concatinates with the immediate parent.

I know how to concatenate them

trim(Addressln1) || ',' || trim(Addressln2) || ',' || trim(Suburb) || ',' || trim(Town) as Address

1. I would like to know if any of the fields are empty I would like to eliminate the comma character from the string.
2. Can I replace the comma with a new line character and what character to be used in the syntax.

I would like to be able to sort through a schema's tables to find if particular vendor numbers exist. The decode cross tab works fine, except that it needs static data for each table. How can I code a PL/SQL to populate the table_name and give a count for each row? See example below:

Result Of String Concatenation Is Too Long

I am receiving a ORA-01489: result of string concatenation is too long error on the following code. The size of the MNO_NOTE fields is: MNO_NOTES_1 X(2000). I'd rather not modify the DB table column size, but rather that capacity of the "notes", or whatever structure the concatenated string is stored in. Could I use the substring method?

ORA-01489 - Result Of String Concatenation Is Too Long

I have a sql query which has around 115 columns and out of which 25 columns are of varchar2(2000) and when I run the query I get the ORA-01489: result of string concatenation is too long error.

I tried to use to_clob function for the columns having varchar2(2000) and if I run the sql from toad , it works fine, but when I tried to run the same query from sqlplus and spool to a file, the result doesn't come in a single line. I have tried to import the spool file to my local and open it , but still it doesn't come in a single line, the data is trucated This is how my data looks in the spool file.

These are the below set options used in the query . I even tried set long 100000000 and also set longchucksize option also, I have tried with WRAP OFF and WRAP ON also ,but still it doesn't work.
