View 2 RepliesI am working on Oracle 11.2.0.3. The use of the DB is only for APEX.I installed APEX in a separate table space and datafile.When taking a full cold backup, is it enough to backup only two datafiles:
APEX.dbf : Where APEX was installed.
APEX_2150521780606761.DBF:
The workspace datafile. Or, what is the most efficient way to take cold backup for Database that is dedicated for APEX ?
Well, I have a oracle database 10g and the tablespace INDX was getting up to 32 GB size. Now I added second datafile to the space, but can I shrink this space? In my view this space is responsible for indexes, right? There is a command to rebuild the indexes or there's another trick?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAim was to shrink datafile and got "ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value". Datafile size 7GB but used 128MB.
So created new Tablespace and moved all tables and index partitions to new TS. Now I see some entries in USER_INDEXES, which I need to move to new TS. But they are IOT's.
INDEX_NAMEINDEX_TYPETABLE_OWNERTABLE_NAME
SYS_IOT_TOP_1082946IOT - TOPDSI_DPIPESYS_IOT_TRNS_1082943
SYS_IOT_TOP_1082949IOT - TOPDSI_DPIPESYS_IOT_TRNS_162982
how to move these indexes to new TS.
Is there a way to find the tablespace used by an index?

I want all the index to be created in different tablespace like 'medium_index. can we specify tablespace for index when we are creating queue table.
I have already created large no of indexes on my Database without specifying specific tablespace, now I would like to move all the created indexes into particular tablespace.

I need to move my indexes (around 300) from data tablespace to index tablespace. What's the best way to do it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two tablespace a and a_idx , a is comtaining all tables data and it fixed size is 19000MB and b containing all the index associated with these tables and its size also 19000MB.
but this is am testing database, and we need some space on my unix machine for this i truncate all tables from a tablespace a
and resize the tablespace a with size 1000M with no error.
but as per my understanding after truncating all tables from tablespace a its also release space from tablespace b but its not hapening.
so my questin is how can i reize tablespace B using alter database datafile 'full path of dbf file' resize 1000M.

I would like to ask about indexes in partitioned tables.I have indexes on a partitioned table, it is partitioned by range method i.e based on Creation date time.All select queries sent to the table use the Creation date time. I have an index on Creation date time.Here is an example:
SELECT col1, col2, col3
FROM table1 where
date_time BETWEEN TO_DATE ('20120117 10:00:00','YYYYMMDD HH24:MI:SS')
AND TO_DATE ('20120117 13:00:00','YYYYMMDD HH24:MI:SS')
AND frmt_name = 'XXXX'
AND sender = 'YYYYY'
AND nature = 'ZZZZ'
AND type LIKE '548'
ORDER BY date_time
WHERE ROWNUM <= 5000
[code]....
do I have to add DATE_TIME to all indexes (IX_NAME_FORMAT_TYPE,IX_CCY) or not?
I fired following commands .
>create table t1(id number);
>create index indx_t1 on t1(id);
>drop table t1;
>flashback table t1 to before drop;
but when i fired
>select index_name , table_name from dba_indexes where table_name='T1';
it shows index name something like "BIN$QvTWVG3dTxmBBJ607f9CWQ==$0" so is their any way to recover that index name
I am trying to use Global temporary tables, and index on this table to get my results faster. I can see even if I run any query on this table, it does full table scan and not Index scan..
create global temporary table abc_tab on commit preserve rows
as select a,b,c from xyz;
create index lmn on abc_tab(a,b,c)
we create index on multiple tables in oracle
View 12 Replies View Relatedi am using 11.2.0.3.0 version of oracle. We are planning to move some ~40 tables/indexes to new encrypted tablespace as a part of TDE(transparent data encryption). Currently three tables are having size ~30GB and one having ~800GB other have <2GB in size. And tables/indexes are altogether placed in different tablespaces.
whether i should create as many no of encrypted table spaces as it was before as unencrypted tablespace? or I should create one encrypted tablespace and move all the tables/indexes into that?
SELECT department_id
FROM (SELECT department_id
FROM employees
UNION
SELECT department_id
FROM employees_old )
WHERE department_id=100;
[code]....
The index has been created on both depart_id for the two tables. The only difference between the two I observed was the 1 recursive call for the 1st sql.and also, one additional view in the plan.There is a little difference in bytes sent over the network.
Statistics

0 recursive calls
0 db block gets

Is there any performance impact you find in those above two sqls if you compare?
I have a view on base tables holding historical data for previous 60 months(one table per month) with union all operators.create index on those base tables will improve performance or creating a primary key with disabled novalidate will improve for retrieving data?
The view has around 8 million data and used as a fact table with 4 dimension tables.A DTS package from MSSql side refreshes OLAP cube by retrieving data from these tables in oracle.
We are using Oracle 10g and have 10 tablespaces defined for our Database which have 108 tables. Size of 108 tables is around 251 MB as seen during importing the dump. While creating these 10 tablespaces I used below parameters for allocation of space
SIZE 1M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1M MAXSIZE 1M;
which set the initial space for 10 tablespaces to around 1032Kb each. Now my Question is after importing the dump , how the disk space for 10 tablespaces increases to 398 MB in total ?
Is there any relation of Tablespace disk space and Actual Data present in the tables ?
How to import dump into specific tablespace instead of default tablespace users.
I want to import my dump file to newly created tablespace ,so how can i do that . I have created new user called cvm and while creating it i mentioned default tablespace to newly created tablespace . But when i try to import my dumo file it goes to users tablespace .
i have a tablespace which contains 121 datafile(max limit reached) as a dba what we have to do?
creating a new tablespace with a datafile and assign the users to the current tablespace which i created now.iif the above process is correct,after some time the tablespace which was filled up got freed up.now can i give the access to the users previous (i.e. freed up tablespace) and current tablespaces

My database is OLP system.
My question is what are the advantages and disadvantages having one single tablespace versus multiple tablespace?
Easy to maintain when you have single tablespace. but hard to track the IO issues if you have one single tablespace.
I am on 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition. We are using the new feature "Composite Domain Index" for a Domain index on a very large table (>250.000.000 rows). It really works with mixed queries. We added two number columns using FILTER BY.We have lots of DML on this table. Therefore, we are executing synchronize and optimize once the week. The synch behaves pretty normal. But "optimize_index" takes a very very long time to complete. I have switsched on 'logging' for the optimize process. The $I table takes some time but is finished normally. But the optimization of the $S table (that is the table created for the CDI feature) is running over 12 hours now - and far from being finished. From the logfile, I can see that it optimizes 1000 rows every 20 minutes. Here is the output of the logfile:
Oracle Text, 11.2.0.3.0
14:33:05 06/26/12 begin logging
14:33:05 06/26/12 event
14:33:05 06/26/12 process $N for optimize: SEQDEV.GEN_GES_DESCRIPTION_CTX_I
14:33:16 06/26/12
14:33:16 06/26/12
[code]....
I haven't found a recommendation from Oracle not to use "optimize_index" for Domain Indexes with CDI. But in my case, it would be much faster just to drop and recreate the Domain Index in question.
I have a huge table (about 60 gb) partition over range. The index on this table is global index created on 4 columns together. I have a query which is running very slowly. The explain plan is showing the use of this global index.Explain plan is not showing pstart and pend because the index is global.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a global index and I want to convert it to local index.Is there a way to recreate local index with out dropping the global index.
I can create a local index first and then drop the global index. But is there a way to create it with out dropping the global index, just convert it.
In my table i have a field called swistmsg, which contains value as
:201:0001OTT11000004|:23b1:CRED|:32a1:01-01-2011|:32a2:USD|:
32a3:1000.|:33b1:USD(similarly around 100 rows)
and my requirement is
201 0001OTT11000004 23b1 CRED 32a1 01-01-2011 32a2 USD 32a3 1000 33b1 USD
and i have eliminate '.',':'&'|' (only quoted chars)from the string separate string
I can separate numbers from string (info) and the first value of the string using REGEXP_SUBSTR (see below):
with dat as (select '35263304 Alcatel One Touch 806' info from dual)
select info, REGEXP_SUBSTR ( info, '[[:digit:]]+',1 ) tac,
REGEXP_SUBSTR ( info, '[[:alpha:]]+',1) brand
from dat
But how can I get rest of the values from that string (red color) ?
I just would like to get separately like:
35263304 Alcatel One Touch 806
create table nov06(
f_name varchar2(20),
l_name varchar2(50),
m_name varchar2(10)
)
insert into nov06 (l_name) values (aaa,bbb);
insert into nov06 (l_name) values (ddd,nnn,jr);
insert into nov06 (l_name) values (fff,mmm);
here the values in the l_name are seperated by ','.
comma seperated values represents "f_name,l_name,m_name".
I've to seperate the strings and put in their respective fields.
Quote:
e.g in second insert statement value (ddd,nnn,jr), so the values will be
f_name -> ddd
l_name -> nnn
m_name -> jr
how can I do it???
I have a question with Oracle sql developer, i've installed oracle 11g express edition, and i want to insert values 'date' and 'time', but i only got the resultat like this:
Who can tell me how can i do to show just date info in 'date' and same for the 'time'?
