i have two tablespaces dictionary managed (SYSTEM,APPLSYSX) i tried to change to locally cause it will cause problem in future when trying to run OATM migration.i did it successfully on APPLSYSX,when i did it on system upon oracle procedure.i have to change all tablespaces to read only when i did that with tablespace APPLSYSD(alter tablespace APPLSYSD read only) i received errors
SQL> alter tablespace APPLSYSD READ ONLY; alter tablespace APPLSYSD READ ONLY * ERROR at line 1: ORA-01230: cannot make read only - file 636 is offline ORA-01111: name for data file 636 is unknown - rename to correct file ORA-01110: data file 636: '/vol5u/oracle/prddb/9.2.0/dbs/MISSING00636' i have not this file on the OS
I have a requirement to read flat text file(around 15000 lines) residing at a client location from DB server and write into a table in One cell.
I tried UTL_FILE and DBMS_LOB but, i am not able to access client location to read the file as it reads path from Oracle Directory.
eg. my client path is 198.168.1.1 and my DB server is in unix say 192.168.1.10. file location is: \192.168.1.1shareabc.txt So I created One Oracle directory as MY_DIR having DIRECTORY_PATH as '\192.168.1.1share'. But both UTL_FILE and DBMS_LOB is not able to access the file.
Error Message: ------------- Unable to process CLOB -22288 ~ ORA-22288: file or LOB operation FILEOPEN failed No such file or directory
Few Details for reference: ------------------------- File Location: \192.168.1.1shareabc.txt Unix DB Server location: 192.168.1.10 Table : Test (filename varchar2(30), Content CLOB) Oracle Dir: MYDIR Directory_Path: \192.168.1.1share
working on setting up connection between a Windows 2008 server and a pair of Oracle 11g DBs in a RAC Cluster. One Database (let's say DatabaseA) is in one data center, and the other (DatabaseB) is an a secondary, backup database. The RAC Cluster is all set up, working fine, etc. However, I Need to set up the machine.config file on my Windows Server, to go only connect to DatabaseA, unless it fails, in which case, we want it to connect to DatabaseB. Think we could do this if the host app server was Linux/Unix, but it is windows, and I just don't have the background as to the parameters to set up in the machine.config file. They are similar, but different, and we want a very specific behavior (use DatabaseA, unless fails, then DatabaseB). Application is .NET 4.0 app.
I have to pick a text file created in UNIX server directory and send it as an mail attachment. The problem here is, when the file size exceeding more than 10 MB. I think there is a way to zip a file in UNIX with some .gz extension or something like that.
how to zip a file in unix server using PL/SQL code. So that I will pick the zipped file and send it as an attachment.
I use Oracle database 11g. How can download file and save in path on database server? in other words I have URL for file saved on anther serve I want to download and save on Database server.
I'm using oracle 10g and Forms 9i . I need to upload a PDF file from client to server no to database, just like File, is there any way to get it, no webutil using.
i have aprocess that generates a textfile using utl_file but i need that file in the client pc.
is there a native method like as_to_client that i could use to copy this file in any client machine without the need of install an extra software in client pc
i have a software...i installed it and configured it to the database now i copied the listener file from a working server to this both have same name and configuration and databases with same port number.
but when i try to log in it throws a error
ORA-12154 TNS COULD NOT RESOLVE THE CONNECT IDRNTIFIER SPECIFIED
I checked my listener tns.ora files and all are correct but still i cant connect.
i have files a.text which is parent file and another one is child one called file b.txt . Both files are linked together by common field called "id". Interesting part child file have multiple layers name associated with ids. (we are only aware that in b.txt for each id there could be max 3 layers)
So they needs to get loaded into Table called PARENT_TBL
So PARENT_TABLE looks like ID NAME SUBJECT LAYER LAYERNO
i am working on Database 11g. I Need to download file to local after the file is created in the database directory using UTL_FILE . i am able to generate the file but not aware how to copy or download the file to local using PL/SQL . i have done the same in forms using webutil pll.
I was reading a tutorial for AJAX after I read another for javascript and thought, what if you could use void(0) in the URL part of AJAX so you can get a dynamic local page. AJAX reloads just a certain part of whatever you want, but it gets a file from a server.
Are there any GUI based tools that can auto generate a CTL file based off a CSV input? I'd love something like this since I have quite a few SQL*LDR projects coming up!
I have a question ragarding undo tablespace. I want to ask that why only undo tablespace information we need to specify in parameter file. We do not specify any other tablespace information. Not even for temporary tablespace. Then why we need to give undo tablespace name while instance is creating.
I noticed my DB is generating a lot of "small" .arc files and I am usure why. As you can see from the v$log query my log file size is set to 50MB. But yet BLOCKS*BLOCK_SIZE never adds up to 50MB.
Is there anything else I can look into to see how to make the .arc files larger?

SP file was removed during the testing and I started the database after making some changes in the pfile, and it works fine. But when I try to start the database using the SPFILE, it gives an error.
Is it possible to determine whether the dump file is created using data pump export or normal export method by just looking at dump file, If yes, how ?
Why i am asking such question is...normal export and data pump export would create a dump file with an same extension filename.dmp. So to avoid confusion during import, i would want to determine by what method the dump file was created.
Also this would be useful for me at the scenario when the customer sends me only the dumpfile and ask to import into target database. ( may be the customer don't know in what method the dump file was created ).
