what is the meaning of 'SBT_TAPE' in the following command in RMAN? In the following command, does it refer to a tape drive, or a hard disk backup?

How i can manually allocate channel for my backups going to tape?
For disk backups i can do and it work...

I am running an RMAN backup copy of a 23 TB database.
I have configured my script to run:

I have configured ABOVE for 100 channels, and now it hangs after 100 datafile copy..which is strange...
Is above parameter correct?

it is necessary to allocate channel for rman back up and during rman back up what should be the state of target database me script for configuration and incremental level 1 daily back up script

Is the crosscheck command suppose to be able to clear catalog entries that are on tape? If so, explain why I still have entries for 11/14/2011 13:28:32 when the current date is 11/16/2011 11:17:45 and I have a retenion policy of 1 day?
This is a test system where I am testing backup to tape... Icurrently disabled the backup to tape and now backing up to disk.

What is the Oracle recommendation for RMAN channel allocation ? I have read some were that RMAN channel allocation must be 4 times of the Server CPU -1. Say for example if there are 2 cpu in the server, then the channel allocation would be 4 * 2 -1 = 7 ?

Tape streaming is not happening while performing RMAN tape backup. On investigation, you find that it is not because of the incremental backup or the empty file backup and that RMAN is sending data blocks to the tape drive fast enough.What could be a solution to make tape streaming happen during the backup?

But and if I need of backups that stay on tape, it's possible make a recovery of deleted files by rman.

1. Why it ignoring "set new name" and db_file_name_convert??
2. Why no backup or copy of datafile 1,2,3,4 found to restore, it can seee it clearly through all its commands?
I am using Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC (2 nodes) + ASM on AIX 7.1
I am backing up my Oracle database through RMAN to ASM disk groups..I have a requirement to backup also to an OS file systems. So what I did that I mounted an NFS across the 2 nodes of my RAC database.I am running backup from node 2 only.My issue now is that I am facing a real performance issue when backing up to NFS.My question is there any way to take an RMAN backup to local file system on node 2? or in other way what are the options to take RMAN backups to an OS file system?
I tried to copy from ASM to OS file system but i was advised to backup to file system using the format command.what should i do in such case? since I am facing performance issue to backup to NFS.
Can I register a database say MYDB in datacenter1 with two different catalogs i.e., I have one rman catalog a datacenter1 location and another rman catalog in datacenter2 location. I took backup of Datafiles , archivelog files and controlfile through RMAN. Now, i want 3 backup file will created as a output of RMAN operation. It would be :
1 backupfile for all the datafiles
