View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are using Oracle 11g R2 on Windows 2008 R2 Server. I have noticed that there is no Enterprise Manager Installed on test environment ( I haven't did this installation). However I tried to configure the EM by using the following command
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
but got message that "Database Instance is Unavailable" (while instance is up and running with all listeners)
I checked the sysman directory under "$ORACLE_HOME/hostname_sid/sysman".
how can I configure Enterprise Manager (DB Console) in this scenario ?
I have been reading a lot of documentation regarding oracle services and I have an ok understanding of how they work. However, I have a general question regarding configuring services using Oracle RAC. For instance, if I have a 2 node oracle 11GR2 RAC on a Linux Redhat server. I have an application that connects to a service I have created. I create the service as follows.
srvctl add service -d ORCL_RAC -s APP_SERVICE -r ORCL_RAC1,ORCL_RAC2
The tnsnames contains:
APP_OLTP =
(DESCRIPTION =
(LOAD_BALANCE = ON)
(FAILOVER = ON)
[code]...
My questions are as follows:
1) When I do a 'srvctl status service -d ORCL_RAC', should I see the service running on both nodes of the RAC? Or does it run only one node, then it will fail over to the other when needed?
2) If I have a RAC environment where I see two services created (RAC_SRV1 and RAC_SRV2). I see that RAC_SRV1 is only running on node1 and RAC_SRV2 is only running on node2. There are two applications sharing the same database, one application is using RAC_SRV1 and the other application is using RAC_SRV2. Am I correct in thinking that there is no failover available here? If node1 goes down, the application connecting to RAC_SRV1 will not be able to connect to node2 right?
3) In the case of the scenario in question 2 above, would it be best practise to simply create one service and have both applications connecting to the one service? Could I configure the one service to point connections from one application to node1 and connections from the other application to node2?
Is there any way I can get all the archive log files present in a backup piece. I tried following but it always gives me all the log files for each piece:
****
SQL> select s.set_stamp, s.set_count, s.PIECES, s.backup_type,
s.controlfile_included from v$backup_set s, v$backup_piece p where
s.set_stamp=p.set_stamp and s.set_count=p.set_count and
p.handle='5mjv4do0_1_1';

My supervisor wants to remove all the archivelogs since it was just a test for 1 year the DB is not actually YET been used. Problem is they want it to be used as soon as possible w/o recreating again the database and just removing some data on tables and removed archive logs. how to safely removed the existing archived logs and create a full backup with archived fresh to sequence 1.

We are trying to recover from the three backup files.We are bumping into the backup piece missing as all the archive logs are done. how to restore with the exising backup files. the lost archive logs are probably salvageable.
I heard about flaskback data archive. can i get some short example to understand in practical way
View 11 Replies View RelatedI need store history for two tables in my system. I thought that Flashback Data Archive will be the best option. There is also another ways to do this but don't focus on this. I need to to this by FDA (Flashback Data Archive);
So my prerequisite was to create tablespace and flash back archive, and alter table to be archived.
create tablespace audit_archive datafile 'd:oradata etaaudit_archive.ora' size 100M;
create flashback archive audit_flash_archive
tablespace audit_archive quota 10G retention 10 year;
alter table teta_admin.t_prac flashback archive audit_flash_archive;
and everything works fine but on sys user.
i can query this table using "as of timestamp" clause
select prac_id, imie, imie_2, nazwisko, nr_ew from teta_admin.t_prac as of timestamp to_timestamp('2011-08-23 08:20:00','yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss')
but final construction of idea was to create additional user (interface), grant select on teta_admin.t_prac object and query archive data from interface user. and this is point of my failure. this don't work on new user.
interface user have such sys privs:
SQL> SELECT * FROM dba_sys_privs
2 WHERE grantee = 'INTERFACE';
GRANTEE PRIVILEGE ADM
------------------------------ ---------------------------------------- ---
INTERFACE CREATE SESSION NO
and table privs:
SQL> SELECT * FROM dba_tab_privs
2 WHERE grantee = 'INTERFACE';
GRANTEE OWNER TABLE_NAME GRANTOR PRIVILEGE
------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ --------------------
INTERFACE TETA_ADMIN T_PRAC TETA_ADMIN INSERT
INTERFACE TETA_ADMIN T_PRAC TETA_ADMIN DELETE
INTERFACE TETA_ADMIN T_PRAC TETA_ADMIN ALTER
INTERFACE TETA_ADMIN T_PRAC TETA_ADMIN FLASHBACK
INTERFACE TETA_ADMIN T_PRAC TETA_ADMIN SELECT
what i need to do in order to query this flashback table from interface user. when i try to do this from this user oracle says ORA-00942.
I have read it in books that flashback uses undo data to create the flashback data or to flashback the database to a time in the past.Then, what is the role of archive files in flashback operation. Why it is mandatory to turn on archiving before turning on flashback. Also, if you remove the latest archive files, you can NOT flashback the data to a time in past (Oracle complains of missing archive files).
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using Oracle 11.2.1.0 version.I want to restrict archiving for some tables. I think NOLOGGING will solve this problem. Is there any option for restricting archiving.
For example, I have three tables called A, B and C. I want to archive only 2 tables A and B but not C.
I have one requirement saying that " Can we restrict archive logs for some tables".

Trying to find a best practices document from Oracle regarding the use of ASM to store the archivelogs in RAC. Most of the DBA's I know create a non-ASM location to store the archivelogs. Are there any considerations if you are also using dataguard?

I am looking for a way to capture a TXs from one database and create a script or use it with tool, so we can capture TXs close to production while testing changes being implemented in database.
Env:
OS: Redhat Linux 5.0
DB: 10.2.0.4
Actually Requirement: We have active-active Golden Gate setup done for one of our DB and once a quarter we make changes in the database using DDL (CREATE / ALTER - TABLES, FUNCTIONS, TRIGGERS, etc). We are 24/7 environment and hence no downtime is affordable. What I like to know is a way to capture all TXs from one of the DB and create a script so we can run them while we are testing new changes in the database. Something like DBMS_WORKLOAD_CAPTURE Package (Available only after 11gR1) or some tools available in the market.
I also tried looking into Load Runner but felt it works with App tier than DB, I may be wrong there.
I am setting up a RAC cluster in Oracle 11.2.0.3 on two Windows 2008R2 nodes.I have completed all the pre-installation tasks would like to verify this by running:cluvfy comp sys -p database -n allusing the standalone download of cluvfy - I haven't installed any Oracle software as yet. This completes successfully on the remote node but fails on the local node (whichever one I run it from).

I am using newstart cluster software. currently I have two blade servers in my system and I have configured cluster as well. right now I have one issue. I am using the ip address of 10.34.14.0/28 network for cluster but this can not be accessed from all network so I want to use different range of IP of 10.68.1.0/28 network in the same blade servers. Can I configure two different floating (cluster) IP? the first IP range is for signalling and second IP range 10.68.1.0/28 network is for OMM. I need to use both IP in two blade servers.

How to Apply / Recover These Logs on Standby Database?
I have Oracle 10gR2 database on a windows server, I have scheduled rman backup for this database from Solaris server
set echo onrun {
crosscheck archivelog all;
backup check logical database plus archivelog;
delete noprompt obsolete device type DISK;
}
exit;
It is deleting the obsolete backup pieces but it is not deleting old archive logs (obsolete archive logs) and it is not even showing old archives as obsolete when I check thru report obsolete
Currently I am at the point where the configuration has been completed, and I just need to sync the standby database to the primary one. I can see in the log files that the archive logs are being shipped, but they are not applied on the standby system.
If I run "recover standby database;" manually in sqlplus I can see that it is trying to apply an archive log which is way too old (ORA-00279: change 9656498443 generated at 04/29/2008 08:45:08 needed for thread 1). I
n the alert log I can also see this error: Warning: Recovery target destination is in a sibling branch of the controlfile checkpoint. Recovery will only recover changes to datafiles.
At this point I was thinking that the standby database might be on a different incarnation compared to the primary, but this is not the case, they are both in incarnation 6:6 6 MVF 4023175798 CURRENT 48493546257 13-06-21
I have a active rollback segments. I am not able to drop the undo tablespace of this segment and archive logs are getting created.

We're trying to utilize Oracle RAC 11.2. We want to have two servers in our grid. These two server are installed on a VM using Hyper-V software.
common storage for asm is also developed on a VM using FreeNAS software.Now, when we try to install Grid Infrastructure the disk that is recognized as a extra drive in both servers are disabled and we can't select it as ASM storage. The OS we're using is Windows Server 2008 R2.I have to say the IP requirements are considered and the servers have two IPs.
