Server Administration :: Changing Web IP Address

Jun 22, 2011

trying to get oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb rolling on Debian/6.0.1a which coincidentally is on another server, not on my desktop, so I obviously can't reach the web frontend at 127.0.0.1:8080. And I couldn't trick it with a simple TCP proxy on the server:

nc -l -p 80 127.0.0.1 8080
and then on the client:
telnet 192.168.0.252 80
bailed out with an error
invalid connection to [192.168.0.252] from (UNKNOWN) [192.168.0.1] 35798

So, is there a way to change the listening IP address, or to allow IPs other than the local host to connect? I've tried some googling around,.

OEM Grid Control 10g Reporting

Aug 19, 2011

I am using OEM Grid control 10g for monitoring/reporting purposes and a bit new to OEM.I am able to generate database alerts sent via email say for DB_abc1 and also generate reports.I installed Oracle 10g agent on a another box and lets say with DB_abc2 running on it,and did not realise that there was a database control already installed on that box, so I

1.Uninstalled database control on DB_abc2 box.
2.Uninstalled Oracle 10g agent and re-installed it on DB_abc2 box.
2.Was able to configure the DB_abc2 database from OEM Grid control gui ie the dbsnmp user password and was able to connect to it.

But when I put in alert for things like ORA-XXXX errors I am not getting any emails, also when I put in database usage reports(to be sent via emails) the reports are not picking up any data, they are empty.

I checked the agent on the box in question and the heart beat is OK, and I manually uploaded using "emctl upload" and it is sucessful. The only alerts I am getting for DB_abc1 is the agent up/down thats it.

DB_abc1 is a 9208 database and DB_abc2 is 10201 database.

Installing Grid Control 12c?

Apr 19, 2012

I need to install the new Oracle Grid on a new virtual machine. Currently the new Grid VM server has a different name and IP. After it is setup and tested it will eventually take the place of the old production server using its original IP and name. If I install the new Grid now on this new VM with different name and IP address would I have to reinstall the agents on each of the target database servers?

Would like to create a soft link to these directory to a newly mounted LUN and so to avoid this space issue which is currently 95%. if soft link works and releases 28G?

Enterprise Manager :: Grid Control Database Instances Always Down

Jun 11, 2010

Installed Grid Control 10.2.0.2.0 on Windows Server 2003R2 32-bit. Immediately upgraded to 10.2.0.5.0. Both install and upgrade went fine, Grid Control can see its own database in the list of targets, looks good.

I then installed Oracle 11gR2 11.2.0.1.0 64-bit on Windows Server 2008R2 64-bit and created a new database. I then installed the 10.2.0.5.0 agent manually on the server via OUI. Agent install went fine, secured and started properly.

The problems I'm having is Grid Control can't seem to see the database instance. If I go to "Targets", GC can see the host just fine, shows that its up and can see targets for the listener (Up), the agent at port 3872 (Up), and the database instance (Down). Drilling down to the database instance, it shows that the instance is not up (though it is as I can connect to it from a different machine and run queries against not) and the Agent Connection to Instance is down with the error:
Failed to connect to database instance: (UNKNOWN OCI STATUS 1804) OCIInitialize. Check ORACLE_HOME and NLS settings etc...

Also, pulling up the "Alerts" tab for errors showed the following for Metrics "Access to Important Tables and Views", "DB Data Files Permissions", and "DB Control Files Permission":

Target: SR3
Type: Database Instance
Metric: Access To Important Tables And Views
Collection Timestamp: Jun 11, 2010 11:11:26 AM
Error Type: Collection Failure
Message: 1804 at c:oracleagent10g/sysman/admin/scripts/db/esaDbUtils.pl line 290.
There are also several "Missing Properties : [AdrHome,ConvertFromCharset, needCharsetConvert]" errors listed too.

I've looked into the 1804 error and from what I could find, its a perl-related issue with not being able to get the ORACLE_HOME information.

- I verified that ORACLE_HOME was set in the environment variables and even rebooted to make sure it was being picked up properly. That didn't work.
- I added "$ENV{ORACLE_HOME}='c:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome';" to the esaDbUtils.pl file. That didn't work either.
- I added the GC security certificate to the trusted certificates on the target box in case it was some kind of SSL issue. I don't get the annoying "invalid certificate" warning, but it didn't fix it.

Add OEM Grid Control Server As Target To Be Monitored

Feb 21, 2013

The grid control installed on this server is working fine and I've deployed agents on remote hosts which I am able to monitor them successfully using this grid control.

Now I would like to add the server ("A") on which the grid control is installed to be monitored by the grid control. is the same way as we deploy agents on remote hosts, but here the agent is already installed at the time of installing Grid Control.

Enterprise Manager :: 11gR2 Grid Control - SVG Or Flash?

Sep 15, 2011

I'm trying to use 11gR2 Grid Control to manage several 10gR2 database targets. I'm unable to determine the correct mix of Adobe software plug-ins to use for displaying SQL execution plans in a more graphical style. My client OS is Windows 7 - I have tried to research plug-ins for Internet Explorer 8, I upgraded (and subsequently downgraded!) to IE 9; I installed Firefox 6.x, tried with Google Chrome and all with the same results.

I'm not seeing any relevant information from MyOracle support or on Google, but may not be asking the correct question. As far as I can determine, SVG 3.0 is needed, Adobe stopped development in 2009 and there is no variant available therefore for Windows 7.
