i want to get user (dba roles in combo box runt time).i have write down this code in when new form instance.

I have a combo box,If I select a value from this combo box it should populate another Combo box automatically.
Example:-
state
sno cno statename
1 1 newyork
2 1 boston
3 1 florida
1 2 brisbane
2 2 sydney
country
cno country name
1 usa
2 Aus
if i select usa in first combo box in next combo box i have to populate only states that belong to that country.
BY example above:
If in first combo box i select AUS
then in next combo box i.e., in
second combo== brisbane
sydney only must be there .
i need the exact code with trigger.

I want to populate a combo box using values from a table, I know you can manually enter values in the combo box's property palette using the 'Elements in List' option, but this combo box will have changing values and I would prefer it to come from a table rather than manual entry so that when users add a new staff name to the table it will automatically be in the combo box.
I would need to use a trigger on this combo box, but which is the best to use and im guessing the SQL needed is more than just 'select * from staffname'?

I have a list box that is populated from a record group using a WHEN-NEW-FORM trigger. When I run the form this displays fine when the list box is set as Poplist or Tlist, but when I change this to combo box and run the form it doesn't load properly in the browser (a blank screen followed by the background a a toolbar that says window).

I have granted execute, select, insert, update, delete privilege on objects to roles. Now i want to check status. we have around 2000 objects.
Require out put should be like this.

I'm not sure if this belong to this place. move it to the proper place.
I'm having an annoying problem: (I'm not sure if it is a problem)
- In a package body I'm trying to delete/update/insert/select the contents of a table in other schema.
- The respective synonym exists.
- I had created a role with the respective privileges over the synonym.
- I granted the role to the package's owner.
- I try to compile the package, but it keeps returning compilation errors. (Not table found)
- In standard SQL, I can delete/insert/update/select over the table.
- The only way to compile the package, without errors, is to grant the privileges directly to the package's owner.
Is it supposed to work in this way?

I am using Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0 - 64bit Production.I have a table D_GEOGRAPHY_25729 in RDS schema and I have created a role ACC_D_TABLES logging as ADMIN.
Now I have given GRANT SELECT access for table D_GEOGRAPHY_25729 to role ACC_D_TABLES.
There is another schema TRANS in the same database which has the role ACC_D_TABLES. But after logging in this schema, I am not able to query directly from table D_GEOGRAPHY_25729. I need to use like below to access the table.
select * from RDS.D_GEOGRAPHY_25729 Having the correct role ACC_D_TABLES to TRANS schema, why should I use RDS.D_GEOGRAPHY_25729 ? Is it not possible without prefixing the RDS schema name?
It is possible when I create a public synonym for D_GEOGRAPHY_25729 in RDS schema, but if i do so everyone can access this table.

I read that few privilegs can not be granted to roles like 'UNLIMITED TABLESPACE ' and they need to granted to user directly.
1. Is there any reason behind that few privileges cant be granted to roles or is it just oracle design.
2. what kind of privileges cant be assigned to roles.

I am working on the roles and privs. I want to provide the privs on any object to any user through the roles. not a direct grant.I am having 150 users and 50 roles, I want to do this using the script is few strokes. for this I have tried to create a script but I am not able to make that.
For example There is 2 user scott and test
A. test is having select privs on scott.emp.
B. Test is having insert,delete,update privs on scott.emp;
c. DB is having 2 roles
scott_edit - insert,delete,update privs on tables
scott_read - select privs on tables
I want to revoke separate privs from test and want to given only scott_edit and scott_read (which(roles) is having all privs)

When I try to drop the roles in dbartisan tool, I get an error saying "Drop DDL for **_***********_ROLE has not been generated because it is a system object", but if i go to sql prompt and say "drop role rolename", it is working. How do I remove the role in dbartisan itself?

I am using Oracle Form 6i. I have created pdf file from oracle report. On view button, I have written:
host('C:Program FilesAdobeReader 8.0ReaderAcroRd32.exe C:dailypending.pdf');
I don't want to set this path on every machine. I want to set its dynamic path so that on which even I machine, I run the applicaiton, it will directly find AcroRd32.exe from any drive either C: or D: or anything else...
It might be Acrobat Reader 9.0 or 8.0 whatever version will be installed on client machine...I want to set path according to that..So that whatever version it would be, it doesnt affect the application..

After this I found a error at run time which is FRM-41826: Cannot replace group; columns don't match LOV.

I am looking for a query which can select all existing Oracle predefined users and roles from db.I need it because one of my other scripts needs to know a given user name or role is a customised one or a system one.It looks like sys.user$ does not have any column that can be used to distinguish predefined users/roles.
I could find all the list of Oracle predefined users and roles by googling and hardcoded them in a query. I can also collect all the customised users and roles as well. However, I prefer a query which can automatically reports that and minimise the maintenance cost as new names and roles, either Oracle predefined or customised, may come out at anytime.

I have one requirement.I am populating LOV dynamically for the subinventory field in the order form through custom.pll.
If Dropship flag= 'Y' then populate suninv LOV with D1,d2..values.If it is 'N' then populate suninv LOV with w01,w02,....values.This is done and working fine in the form.But If i save dropship flag='Y' and Subinv value is D1 then it saves the record.Now I am changing Drop ship flag as 'N' then 'D1' value appearing in the SUBINV field.and it allow the save changes.
So How can i refresh Lov at the time of making drop ship flag as 'Y'/'N'?

I'm still trying to import some video in my form.
So far I made one OLE container and add Oracle Video Control, then I made one button and wrote this trigger:
WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED

This works fine. All I want to do now and I don't know why (because I am quite new in Oracle development) is, to make one trigger that will choose automaticly wich video to play and if it is possible to make when I start the form automaticaly to start that video, if not, it's enough just to choose video automaticaly when I press the button.

I am working on Forms 6i. I have data block A on table EMP.
Datablock A: Empno, Ename, Hiredate
I have FIND Screen: EMPNO, HIREDATE_FM,HIREDATE_TO and FIND Button.
I will search the records through FIND Screen.
I want to set the where condition of block A in pre-query trigger.

Note: FIND in above is FIND Screen block.
It's not fetching any records, i doubt that there is syntax error in above statement.

I want to create two list items. one is for deptno and another is for empno in a single form.
