RMAN :: Allocate Channel Device Type Disk Format (Path)
May 12, 2013I am running an RMAN backup copy of a 23 TB database.
I have configured my script to run:
ALLOCATE CHANNEL DISKXX DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT 'PATH' MAXPIECESIZE 300 G;
I have configured ABOVE for 100 channels, and now it hangs after 100 datafile copy..which is strange...
Is above parameter correct?

Oct 30, 2011i have changed date's format and the calendar type in sqlplus through the following command so the date's format and the calender type both changed successfully and work, but in oracle form the they haven't changed.
alter session set nls_calendar='persian';
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY/MM/DD';
ALTER SYSTEM SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY/MM/DD' SCOPE=SPFILE;
Note: i know session would change the format temporally but i want to change it permanently so i tried alter_system but still no result
Character Encoding In 10g?
Dec 7, 2010The problem is regarding character encoding.When i am entering Japanese characters in a description form field in a Jsp page and on submit storing the value in the database,its getting stored fine.When i an selecting the value and showing in the result page,then again its properly displaying.But when i am executing the select query in Sql Developer,the values are most probably showing as unicode characters (i am not sure about this though,but at least they are looking like unsupported characters).
Is there any way to store data,such as the select query will also show understandable japanese characters on Sql Developer(or other IDEs)?
i am using Oracle 10g?

But I don't know the file I created is in which encoding ASCII, UTF-8, EBCDIC etc.
1.) How can I create files in my desired encoding using UTL_FILE?
2.) Does UTL_FILE use database encoding? If yes then how to find out database encoding?
3.) Which encoding is used by UTL_FILE by default?

Loadjava Command With Encoding Option
Jan 5, 2011I want to know what syntax I should use for encoding option with loadjava command?
here is the scenario--
Our oracle database is already compatible with UTF-8 characters i.e. charset encoding is set as 'AL32UTF8'. I am able to save Chinese characters in the database however when I trigger a stored procedure which eventually use a loaded java class I get an error.
I am suggested to provide -encoding option while running 'loadjava' command but I don't know what syntax I should provide for 'UTF8' encoding.

If my external table wants to read the txt file with the ZHS16GBK, the value will not show correctly when the external table reads the file. I want to store each CLOB value to separate file, and to store it after this into another DB table (another Instance, also). I cannot use dblinks and other techniques like this. The point is - how to avoid dealing with encoding?
I mean, that in the best scenario, I just want to save the CLOB values to the files, with no meter about Database Instance character set, language, and so on. How this can be accomplished? If I use default for .Net StreamReader UTF-8 format, the loading with DBMS_LOB failed.

Jan 2, 2013I have 3 user defined collection types. I am trying to access the type3's attribute in type1 body (like backward accessing).
Ex. My Collection Types Structure (something like master detail structure)

so, in the type1 body i have to get or assign the value either to type2's attribute or type3's attribute. I have search all the in internet but i haven't find anything such. how to find the reverse method of accessing the super type's attribute(s) in sub type's body.

The p_ema_lnpticket_tab is a sort of array that can have multiple values. Please see the example of values. Has all the business rules and validation that should be adhered.

The get Response procedure is a wrapper procedure exposed to Java to pass values. The Process Response procedure is a main procedure where all logics and business rules are handled.
The Problem is:
How can I pass the values from get Response procedure to Process Response procedure. So that rules and validations are applied. Please note the p_ticket_tab may have many ticket numbers corresponding to p_call_request_id.
Values E.g. :

Feb 9, 2013I am using C++ OCI LIB, to insert some report data from remote OCI client to oracle 11 server. This data is read by another process to create the report.The DB CHARSET is UTF-8. But the report tool expects the data to be ISO08859-1 encoded. So while inserting the data into the database i specify the following LANG and CHARSET for my table colulmn in client:

This solution works for almost every case of ASCII and Extended ASCII Charest but we are facing issues if we have few specific characters to be inserted.f we are trying to insert single beta character [β] through client, the data goes empty to the column.
Beta Character details:

DB Output after insert single β:

I'm new to this XML DB thing and also this is my first post.
I'm trying to populate collection type from XMLType. I was able to populate a table from XMLType but any way to populate the collection type. Here is the description of my problem:
Object Type:

I have a physical table which is created when I registered a schema.
A table (Temp_Result) got created with column SYS_NC_ROWINFO$ which is of XMLType.
As you can see this is only a temporary table which will store the response XML which I want to finally get it to collection type.
XML to parse:

So each object in the collection is one TFS tag. how to implement this?

In this way i am able to access the variable inside typeObj3. But problem is i am getting error "ORA-01427 single-row subquery returns more than one row" when i pass more that one typeObj2.
I passed the values like this in proc execution.

Jul 10, 2011We have a production database that have : NLS_LANGUAGE=FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P1.
We use (INSERT, UPDATE) arabic and french languages, and it works properly.
When I issue SQL statments to retrieve arabic data (with SQL*PLUS), it works and it returns correct arabic format.
When I use PHP, with the same small query, the arabic format is not correct.
I've tried changing the encoding characters on my browsers (IE and FF) and it's still incorrect.

I had already loaded the csv file to a external table and I am stuck on how to retrieve the data to a stage table along with other csv column.
For example, I need to pull data from col1, col2, col3, and col4 which col4 contain data for store_numner and associate id from a external table to a staging table which my staging table have col1, col2, col3, store_nbr column, and associate id.
