Code Change After Upgradation For Spatial Data?
Dec 21, 2010
would there be any code change for spatial data after migration from 10g to 11g? In case of upgradation from 10R1 to 10R2, there were lot of issues regarding the spatial data code.
know beforehand so that it should not affect the service.I have already done the migration from 10g to 11g by 2 ways succesfully.

I have the following chunk of code, which could return no rows, one row or many rows. When it returns one or many rows the DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE prints out my values. When no data is found 'Hello' is not printed?
Suggest a way I can change the code to make the exception print when no data is found?
SET SERVEROUTPUT ON;
BEGIN
FOR prec IN ( select * from xxx.part_maint where drop_partition = 'Y' )
LOOP
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE (prec.SCHEMA_NAME || ' ' || prec.OBJECT_NAME);
END LOOP;
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('hello');
END;

We are converting WE8ISO8859P1 oracle db character set to AL32UTF8. Before conversion, i want to check implication on PL/SQL code for byte based SQL functions.
What all points to consider while checking implications on PL / SQL code? I could find 3 methods on Google surfing, SUBSTRB, LENGTHB, INSTRB. What do I check if these methods are used in PL/SQL code?
What all other methods should I check? What do I check in PL/SQL if varchar and char type declarations exist in code? How do i check implication of database character set change to AL32UTF8 for byte bases SQL function.

I am working on a project that will require both projected coordinates and geographic coordinates for different product files coming in. I have no issues defining, storing, extracting or matching the geographic coordinates. My columns for those coordinates with SRID 8307 are defined in the user_sdo_geom_metadata table as follows:
INSERT INTO
USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA (TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DIMINFO, SRID)
VALUES
('INVENTORYGEOMETRY','INVGEO',MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY(MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Longitude', -180, 180, .05),MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Latitude', -90, 90, .05)),8307);
the index: create index "MYDB"."INVGEO_IDX" on "MYDB"."INVENTORYGEOMETRY"("INVGEO") indextype is MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX;
how I am going to have a column that has both Geographic and Projected coordinates. Am I allowed to define more SDO_DIM_ELEMENT(s) fro the SDO_DIM_ARRAY with different min/max values. As an example, would I be able to still use an SRID of 8307 for both WGS 84 and GRS80 data (ellipsoid), something like the following:
INSERT INTO
USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA (TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DIMINFO, SRID)
VALUES
('INVENTORYGEOMETRY','INVGEO',MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY(MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Longitude', -180, 180, .05),MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Latitude', -90, 90, .05),
(MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('FIXEDGRID_.5Resolution', 0, 26916, .5)),8307);
Is that possible or do i have to create a new column in the database? Also, I don't know the relationship between the SDO_ELLIPSOIDS table and the SDO_GEOMETRY table.
how I'm going to make this work for both the geographic and projected coordinates or if I'm going to be able to make it work.

I have a Materialized View that gets refreshed everyday.While the DB running on oracle 9.2.0.7,It was taking around 50mins to refresh.I was using the following codes
dbms_mview.refresh('mvname','c');
After 10g upgradation the refresh process ran for more than 2 hr.So I used the following codes
dbms_mview.refresh('mvname','atomic_refresh=>false')
It took 50mins to refresh. But what I found that the number of record count is same after each day refresh.Is there any problem with the option atomic_ refresh=>false.Why I used it -In Oracle 9.2.7.0 the 'c' option truncate the MVIEW then insert.But in Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 the 'c' option deletes the records and then insert .The option atomic_refresh=>false truncates.

I have no knowledge about Barcode. The problem is an issue of Loyalty Cards of a Hotel and Restaurant to various customers and then these cards will be presented by the customers time to time in the Hotel as well as Restaurant. The Owner of the Hotel and Restaurant wants to generate separate barcode for each card and when this card will be presented then the bar code reader will readout the code and the system will calculate the amount of discount/rebate. Because if the data entry operator enter the code of the card through key board the it will be a chance of leakage or misuse of that card.

I have to compare my SVN source code (packages, views etc) with the production code in the database like views etc (actually we are not sure that what we have in the svn is the final version of production code, we have objects created in the production database, but we don't have latest scripts for that. we have to deploy the svn code in the UNIX box).
So here the comparison is between the OS files and the database objects.
I thought I would get scripts of all the packages, views etc from the production database by using DBMS_METADATA or some utility and save the code in OS files then compare one svn file with OS file manually by using some comparison tools e.g toad provide one comparison tool.

Our organization has recently decided to go for storage metro cluster solution for disaster recovery. In a Data guard environment, we normally calculate how much archive log is generating and based on that value we calculate the required bandwidth.
For storage metro cluster, we need to find how much block is changing in our primary database, and the same rate of change would apply on DR cluster. Now, i need to give the assumption how much changing is happening in my system. How to calculate the change.

We are still in the requirements stage...different requirements and challenges that should be taken care and would occur in the roadmap of this project from a DBA perspective.All your inputs would be very valuable to me.

We get 99.925 meters,and not the 198.075 that we were expecting.

I'm getting some problem in my project. I've taken my form fields in tabular way. I also have the ID with auto-increment system there. I want that when user moves towards the 2nd row for inserting new record then the 1st record would be committed.
I'm getting my bank-id from database and making +1 increment and made that bank-id text box into display box.
When running my form then it is increasing one like this :
database record
BKID-00001
and with one increment it is showing this in my form display field of 1st row in tabular form.
BKID-00002
but when I moves towards the 2nd row it doesn't commits the form and gives the BANK-ID AS "BKID-00002" again like the above row.

I have big source tables to load in a data warehouse. We are in a full Oracle environment. So I need to extract only delta since the last extract.
I need to capture even deleted rows from the source table.
I have tested the following solution:
- declare a materialized view log on the source table
- load the content on this view log in my ODS
- empty this view log
- load my DWH with the captured delta
It is very simple and seems to work perfectly. I am just confused by the fact that nobody seems to have implemented such a solution.

I have the following parameters for 2D affine transformation:
Two translation:
tx=2754.3661 and ty = -237.0731
and rotation in radians: -.001016214498072193185827329
Is this specification correct:
SDO_UTIL.TO_WKTGEOMETRY(SDO_UTIL.AffineTransforms (
geometry =>myGeometry,
translation => 'TRUE', tx => 2754.3661, ty => -237.0731, tz => 0.0,
scaling => 'FALSE', psc1 => NULL, sx => 0.0, sy => 0.0, sz => 0.0,
rotation => 'TRUE',
p1 => MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2001, NULL, MDSYS.SDO_POINT_TYPE(0, 0, NULL), NULL, NULL), line1 => NULL,
angle => -.001016214498072193185827329,
dir => -1,
shearing => 'FALSE', shxy => 0.0, shyx => 0.0, shxz => 0.0, shzx => 0.0, shyz => 0.0, shzy => 0.0,
reflection => 'FALSE', pref => NULL, lineR => NULL, dirR => -1, planeR => 'FALSE', n => NULL, bigD => NULL
))
BTW, in PostGIS it works correctly: ST_Affine (myGeometry, cos(rotation), sin(rotation), -sin(rotation), cos(rotation), tx, ty));
