Client Tools :: How Can Isqlplus Available For Windows Client
Sep 23, 2010
I have an Oracle server on CentOS 5.4, I can visit isqlplus on server, but I can't visit isqlplus on a windows client. ping works between server and client. I remember client doesn't need to install software via isqlplus, but I am not pretty sure.
I'm having some trouble with iSQL*Plus.I instaled oracle database and at first it worked fine, but then I installed client on the same maschine and all products that come with client, and somewhere in the meantime iSQL*Plus stopped working.
Then I uninstalled client and products that go with him (Policy Manager, Oracle Wallet...) because I thought that they have "broken" iSQL*Plus, but it still doesn't work. Finally, I re-installed iSQL*Plus, but that didn't work either. Interesting thing is that when I type in command line
" c:/miljana/bin/isqlplusctl start "
it says that iSQLPlus is started, but when I go to browser there is an error:
" Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at miljana.localhost.com:5560. "
Also from Administrative tools/Services if a try to start iSQL*Plus there is an error:
" Could not start the OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly. "
I know that there is a lot of topics for this, but most of solutions where for Linux, and didn't work for me.I'm using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition on WindowsXP
I have installed Oracle 10gR2 database server recently in the Windows box. The database works fine. But I am unable to connect through the Internet Explorer. I found that the service for the isqlplus is not available. Do I need to run any script for creating the service?
Our company has finally undertaken the task of getting us all off Windows XP and onto Windows 7. My turn came this afternoon, they gave us all clean installs and after walking through oracle client, toad, visual studio setup I finally started using it an Toad is unbearably bad. I have found:
Loaded files suddenly become read only for no apparent reasonAfter selecting a file on a network drive and clicking the open button, a blank edit pane is loaded in place of the file, sometimes it has the name of the file sometimes no name and sometimes I get an error that the file does not exist Empty file listings, I will browse into a directory that has files in it but toad shows nothing or freezes completely
I have not used Windows 7 much or this version of Toad at all I am loading much of this over the network so that is one possible culprit but it has never been a problem in the past with XP or older versions of toad
I am an IT auditor who has been using Oracle 10g Express to test some audit scripts we have created. I write the output of each query in the script to a separate file because it makes it easier for us to go through. However, I cannot get SQLPlus to spool the output files at all. I do not get any errors from running the script, and I can see the results in the SQLPlus window, but I cannot find where the files are actually spooling to, if they are spooling at all.
I didn't specify a network path for any of the spool files because the scripts need to be as generic as possible so they can run on any Windows or UNIX box. An example of my code is below:
spool Audit_Ver
SELECT * FROM V$VERSION;
spool off
But if I search my harddrive for "Audit_Ver" no such file can be found anywhere.
TOAD 8.6.1 has an option of showing windows by connection. It is useful when there are multiple connections and, choosing one of these, all windows that belong to other connections are minimized.
Its icon looks like this:
Does TOAD 9.1 have the same option? I'm unable to locate it in options, toolbar customizations or elsewhere.
TOAD 9.5 Release Notes document says that "'Connection list' dropdown button has been restored and can be added to the Toad toolbar.". If I understand it correctly, it says that previous version didn't have that dropdown button, but 9.5 does.
In another words ... 9.1 might not have it at all.
I am using Windows 7 and oracle 10g; From sqlplus* I can not use editor (using ed). but when I see the variable from DEFINE.. It shows that default editor is notepad..
I can use editor in winxp. How to get (use) editor ?
I am using Oracle 11g version, and i am using plsql developer 7.1.I am able to connect Oracle through sql*plus, But i am not able to connect Oracle through plsql developer from past few days, it is giving me error like: ora-12545 connect failed because target host does not exist...I recently installed oracle dev_suite 10g client first and then i installed oracle 11g server in windows 7. Both tns files are having identical entries.
I recently got a new PC at work which is Windows 7 64 bit.
We run lots of crystal reports(1000's) that pull data from an oracle back end.
I have installed the Oracle Client 32 bit on this machine and have no problem connecting to the database and pulling back data.
However, when I use crystal to access the TNS Name it gives me the following error.
[URL]
My path variable on the PC has "C:oracleproduct10.2.0client_1BIN;".
I also tried to create and ODBC using the 32bit ODBC on the machine and that connects fine, but when you try to access the DSN from Crystal, I still get the 12154 error.
I began studying Oracle and SQL Developer and I have the following question: If I run a large number of INSERT commands into a table using a SQL Worksheet from the SQL Developer, the fact that in the "Script Output" window a "1 rows inserted" message appears for each created record. slows the execution. How can I inhibit displaying this message in the "Script Output" window during the execution of my INSERT commands?
I work with oracle 10g, on windows 7. sometime when i try to start my sqlplus in prompt command this message display.
C:UsersSony>sqlplus SP2-1503: Unable to initialize Oracle call interface SP2-0152: ORACLE may not be functioning properly
But the solution people have proposed into the forum are:
1 - check the environment variable Oracle_home and modify if it ending by ""
2 - or try tho run my promt command as Administrator.
I try the both, but only the second works. while now i don't understand why it works when i start the promt command as Administrator and why it no works when i don't run it like administrator. Another thing is i am the only user of my computer, i have only one session (administor session).
The problem is that this connection errors when I try to connect using my SQuirreL client. My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.
# Host name is vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com # SID is sting2 # SERVICE_NAME is sting2.na.sas.com
PROBLEM using SID errors ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2 THIS WORKS using SERVICE_NAME ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com
I am using SQuirreL Client version 3.4.0
# Here is the tnsnames.ora entry on the server. STING2 = (DESCRIPTION =
[code]...
# In this documentation it says, "On new syntax SERVICE may be a oracle service name or a SID."You can find this on the orafax wiki under JDBC#Thin_driver.
# I was able to connect with the "old method" using the SID only, SERVICE_NAME errors jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521:sting2.na.sas.com (SQuirreL client error, "Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.") jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521:sting2 (this works)
# "New Method" jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com (this works) jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2 (this errors) (SQuirreL client error, "Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.")
I have new virtual UNIX machine and I installed oracle client on /usr/lib/oracle. Also I have a oracle database and I am able to connect to this database from my desktop sql developer.
So now I am trying to connect from new UNIX machine. Where I created tnsnames.ora file under /usr/lib/oracle/network/admin and before connecting did export the following
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist. Not sure what I missed here. using same tns file I am able to connect from sql developer on windows.
I need to install Oracle client to get latest sql plus working on client pc as the problem is, i am not able to find out where i can download this , i just need the sql plus as i am not able use many commands because when i installed oracle forms 6i client tool , sql plus 8.0 got installed.
The version is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi. for Unix AIX 5
I install the ODBC Driver Manager, Basic Instant Client, ODBC Instant Client packages (libsqora.so, odbc_update_ini.sh).
The error:
[oracle@d4 oracle] $ isql OracleODBC-10g user passtemp -v [01000][unixODBC][Driver Manager]Can't open lib '/home/oracle/instantclient_10_2/libsqora.so' : file not found [ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect
1) A reverse engineering tool that I can point to an Oracle schema and get a "baseline" script to re-create that schema from scratch, with decently formatted DDL files (1 per object) neatly organized in a directory tree (by object type) and called in the correct order. Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to populate (insert) those tables as part of the script.
2) a diff tool that I can point to a pair of Oracle instances (source and target) containing a given schema and get a "delta" script to alter the target schema so that it becomes identical to the source schema. If data loss occurs on the target instance (i.e. drop a column) I would like to find a warning comment inserted in the script (e.g. "-- Attention: data migration DML needed here?"). Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to update (delete, update and insert) the data in the target tables to become identical to the contents in the source tables *without* deleting and re-inserting all rows (or dropping, recreating and repopulating the table).
3) I would like the above two tools (that, as you will have recognized, are basic to putting your database design under version control) to be open-source, with a command-line interface and a vibrant community backing them.
