View 5 RepliesI have an Oracle server on CentOS 5.4, I can visit isqlplus on server, but I can't visit isqlplus on a windows client. ping works between server and client. I remember client doesn't need to install software via isqlplus, but I am not pretty sure.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble with iSQL*Plus.I instaled oracle database and at first it worked fine, but then I installed client on the same maschine and all products that come with client, and somewhere in the meantime iSQL*Plus stopped working.
Then I uninstalled client and products that go with him (Policy Manager, Oracle Wallet...) because I thought that they have "broken" iSQL*Plus, but it still doesn't work. Finally, I re-installed iSQL*Plus, but that didn't work either. Interesting thing is that when I type in command line
" c:/miljana/bin/isqlplusctl start "
it says that iSQLPlus is started, but when I go to browser there is an error:
" Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at miljana.localhost.com:5560. "
Also from Administrative tools/Services if a try to start iSQL*Plus there is an error:
" Could not start the OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus service on Local Computer.
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly. "
I know that there is a lot of topics for this, but most of solutions where for Linux, and didn't work for me.I'm using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition on WindowsXP
I have installed Oracle 10gR2 database server recently in the Windows box. The database works fine. But I am unable to connect through the Internet Explorer. I found that the service for the isqlplus is not available. Do I need to run any script for creating the service?

I just got a new widescreen monitor and i want my sql*plus output to fill the whole page. I added the 'linesize 999' to my login.sql file but the line length only goes 100 characters across. It doesnt matter what kind of query or function i run. Still only 100 characters across. what else can i be missing?

But the users can login to DB using sql*plus.
We can get this info once user looged in to DB.

Can we make this check done before login process and allow users to login when module not in ('TOAD','PL/SQL Developer').

I'm encountering the above msg while connecting to oracle through TOAD. While connecting through SQL * Plus I find no issues.
I'm using TOAD for Oracle 9.0.1.
I try to login as SYS@sid AS SYSDBA When I login via TOAD, I am able to. However, as in (1), all my attempts to login from command-line SQL *Plus fails. The error I get is ORA-1031 Insufficient Privileges Even if I am on the physical server and try to run the SQL *Plus, I get the same error -- Insufficient Privileges
Here are the environment details:
Server: Windows Server 2008 R2
Server: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0
Client: Windows 7 Professional
Client: SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production
While trying to logging to database through pl/sql developer, getting error as "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges".But am able to logging by system.
As per the instruction by the below link, checked the privileges of ord_dba. All are correct. Now, i am in puzzle to rectify the error.

I have a Batch file(.bat) where I get the user name password ans schema name as a input . Based on that input I connect the sql and run some update query from bat file itself. Now I have issue ,when the user give wrong credintials it ask for the credintials again.
Is there any way to check the credintials of oracle and give the invalid credintial error via bat file. The sample of my Bat file is as follows.
@echo off
for /f %%i in ('sqlplus -s usename/password@db @H: est_db_connection.sql') do @set count=%%i
echo %count%
IF %count% EQU 1 ECHO ("Database connection working fine")
IF %count% NEQ 1 ECHO ("Not able to connect to database")
This is not working fine.
which are recommended Tool for load testing (for performance) on Oracle-J2EE, 3 Tier applications?
Is 'Oracle Application Test Suite' the best for such test where we can simulate numbers of users and their various actions?
Does it come with Oracle Database license or we have to buy it separately?
I'm looking for 3 simple things.
1) A reverse engineering tool that I can point to an Oracle schema and get a "baseline" script to re-create that schema from scratch, with decently formatted DDL files (1 per object) neatly organized in a directory tree (by object type) and called in the correct order. Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to populate (insert) those tables as part of the script.
2) a diff tool that I can point to a pair of Oracle instances (source and target) containing a given schema and get a "delta" script to alter the target schema so that it becomes identical to the source schema. If data loss occurs on the target instance (i.e. drop a column) I would like to find a warning comment inserted in the script (e.g. "-- Attention: data migration DML needed here?"). Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to update (delete, update and insert) the data in the target tables to become identical to the contents in the source tables *without* deleting and re-inserting all rows (or dropping, recreating and repopulating the table).
3) I would like the above two tools (that, as you will have recognized, are basic to putting your database design under version control) to be open-source, with a command-line interface and a vibrant community backing them.
The problem is that this connection errors when I try to connect using my SQuirreL client. My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.
# Host name is vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com
# SID is sting2
# SERVICE_NAME is sting2.na.sas.com
PROBLEM using SID errors ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2
THIS WORKS using SERVICE_NAME ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com
I am using SQuirreL Client version 3.4.0
# Here is the tnsnames.ora entry on the server.

(SQuirreL client error, "Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.")
jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521:sting2 (this works)
# "New Method"
jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com (this works)
jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2 (this errors)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to understand how to enable some audit so we can capture OEM logins as well.
Here is my setup. Lets say my DB that i am auditing is called audit_db (audit trail set to DB) sitting on host called host_db. and we have grid control agent on this box.now my grid control is as this. Lets say my OMS and repository is on host called OMS_host.
we run query aginst dba_audit_session to get info as to who tried failed login attemps and stuff.
Now to the part that is not working.
-- this is the good part When i intentionaly login to the audit_db with sqlplus client from my laptop with wrong username/password that is captured. we get the username,os_username,userhost,terminal.
here is the sample output
username is the wrong user that i tried to login as
os_username is the my local username(ad account)
userhost is my_laptop_name
terminal is laptop_name
from above we can figure who was trying to login(failed).
-- this is the bad part But lets say i try to login to audit_db through grid control and use wrong username/password.that gets captured too(but not all of it). we get the username,os_username,userhost,terminal.
here is the sample output
username is the wrong user that i tried to login as
os_username is the user of OMS repository db(oracle)
userhost is oms_host
terminal is unknown
Now with the above info, we cannot figure out who tried to login with bad login credential.
