Backup & Recovery :: Block Corruption In Expdp?
Feb 15, 2011I am facing issue of block corruption in my exp backup which I am taking through expdp command. (Refer Attachment of Screen shot of error)
I want to know few things about the block corruption.
1. Why the block corruption occur.
2. How can I resolve this.
3. Can I rosolve this by deleting the same record on which this error is coming. if yes then how can I track that row in a table.
I already tried for DB verify utility. It shows the below result.

Export/Import/SQL Loader :: Expdp To Export Multiple Schemas
Aug 2, 2012I have a question related to Oracle Data Pump.
So, I want to export two schemas from database with condition:
1. I want to export scheme_1 with all metadata objects + data.
2. I want to export scheme_2 with only metadata objects.
Oracle version is Oracle EE 10.2.0.4.0, OS - Microsoft Server 2003R2.
As far as I know I can not use parameter EXCLUDE like:
EXCLUDE =TABLES:" IN ('SCHEMA_NAME.TABLE')"
(-but this parameter will give me no tables at all) or I can not use CONTENT=SCHEMA_NAME.METADATA_ONLY, maybe I can use QUERY=where table in (select tablename where schema is .... - but I have tables with same name in both schemas).

Apr 20, 2011I have a process to export a schema using expdp and import using impdp. Everything creates successfully except for a trigger. The trigger gives and error that the table or view does not exist. The account that I use to import the schema is different than the schema user but is a highly privileged account. I notice that the schema in the create or replace trigger line of code is remapped (I am using remapping in the impdp syntax) and the rest of the syntax of the trigger (which is just a sequence trigger for a primary key column) does not have the schema. In order to fix the issue, I have my bash script log into oracle as the schema user after the import of the schema and execute the trigger code. why do I have to do this for trigger code but not for other objects like views that create just fine.

Oct 1, 2013My database size is around 2900 GB in AIX 6.1, database version is 10.2.0.3. Everyday I need to take expdp dump backup of a single table which is only 57 MB in size. It takes around 55 minutes to complete the dump backup.
I have noticed that when backup starts , in first phase it does table scan ( we have 330000 tables) , next purely backup begin. My query is ,
1. how to make first my dump backup?
2. is there any way to skip table scan ?

Datapump Export completes with these 2 errors and dumpfile is generated. Are these errors Problematic. Will these errors cause problems while taking import from the dumpfile .

The source and target databases are both running on 10.2.0.5 and the main thing is source database doesn't have any active sessions. This is a clone of a Prod Database and no one is accessing it.

Server Utilities :: Export Data Using Expdp To Remote Host
Jun 5, 2012I have to servers 'A' and 'B', On Server there is a schema with the name "test" having a table "t1". I want to import this t1 table to server B.
Is it possible to export dump using expdp to remote host.
I found that there is an option for this like "network_link". for testing this, I created a dblink from Server "B" to "A" named "vxmldb".
When I am using the below command on Server B there I am getting the following error.

May 29, 2012We are DB users (not DBAs) and used always exp/imp bevore application upgrade.
Was googling arround and read something like "Oracle Data Pump - Time to let go of Exp / Imp". It seems exp/imp is obsolete.

We want to subset from different tables. But query option in expdp only taking 1800 characters only. why it is taking upto 1800 characters only. Any restriction imposed on query option.how to increase query clause length?

Mar 11, 2013I'm curious to know if expdp or impdp is able to change object names during the process. What I mean by this is... can I export out procedures:

Then import them like this:

test_procedure3
I'm not sure the expdp or impdp has that ability, but I could have missed it. I know how to remap a schema, but that only changes the schema name.
Backup & Recovery :: RMAN Recovery Failing With Incremental Level 0 Backup
Feb 10, 2011We are trying to restore a database on the different server using RAM incremental level 0 and 1 backups. We have weekly Incremental level 0 backups along with incremental backups on daily basis. During recovery of Incremental level 0 backup, RMAN is expecting/looking for Incremental Level 0 backup of prior week as well. Is this the usual process for RMAN to look for prior level 0 backup though we need to restore from the current level 0 backup and roll forward by a week with subsequent Level 1 backup.?
We intend to restore from the Level 0 of 1/16 and roll forward with daily incrementals till 1/22. RMAN is expecting level 0 backupsets from 1/9 backup as well and keep failing since those backups are not available. quick inputs since we are in middle of recovery and trying to resolve if this is even doable.

here one biggest schema size is 250GB and the total size of all the schema's is 300GB. The file where am taking the dump has 350GB space but even then the expdp failed saying
ORA-39095: Dump file space has been exhausted: Unable to allocate 8192 bytes
why it failed and how to restart it and make sure it runs successfully without error.

Tables same column names but diffrenet index structures and traget one to be partitioned hence only want to import the content Each table on source datbaase hascolumn seq number and only want to extract the last few months of data.

Oct 18, 2011I have problem on using "delete obsolete" in RMAN.
First, let describe my backup configuration.
1. Full backup every Monday (17-Oct, 10-Oct, 3-Oct, 26-Sep)
2. Incremental backup for other days
3. Enable autobackup of control file
4. Backup archive log every day
5. RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 30 DAYS
6. Execute "Delete obsolete" every day
7. control file is used instead of catalog
The results observed:
1. Backup of control files older than 30 days will be deleted
2. Backup of archive log files older than 30 days will be deleted.
3. Backup of datafiles older than ~14 days but before 30 days are also DELETED.
In my example, the backup of datafiles created at 26-Sep is deleted at 16-Oct.
I tried "restore database validate until time "sysdate-22"" at 17-Oct. And RMAN reported "datafile xx will be created automatically during restore operation". It seems that RMAN failed to do restoration up to 22 days ago. The retention policy I set seems not effective on datafile backups.
I checked view v$backup_set and the "Keep" is "No" and "Keep until" is empty.
The only thing I can think of, is the settings of "CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME". It is marked "7" in the Oracle, which is less than the retention. But I suppose this only causes the backup not deleted, but NOT be deleted earlier.

other set of backup is of only archive log files of same day but later time than datafile backup say bkp2 taken at 8pm...if i restore and recover bkp1 and try to restore bkp2 it gives error datafile exist (possibly due to fact both backup have control file)
if i just restore bkp1 and try to restore bkp2 so that i can do one recover at time
it gives error datafile permission issue (possibly due to fact both backup have control file)
I want to restore database upto 8pm time how can i use both bkp1 and bkp2 to do it(restore datafiles and apply all archive logs on it)

Aug 13, 2013My scenario is: database is in archivelog mode.
I run DLY cold backups including controlfile & archivelogs and keep 3 gens of backups and archivelogs to 3 days also. What is the correct procedure to restore back to an old cold backup. Database is backed up Mon,Tue,Wed on Thur we require to bring database back to Tuesday DLY security.
I have tried:
startup mount
restore database from tag 'DLYTUE'
recover database
( this just rolls forward on all archive logs once it restores datafiles, not getting to point to alter database open resetlogs.)
Next tried to :
recover database archivelog tag 'DLYTUE'
( same outcome )
What is the correct rman procedure including should I remove old archive logs from working OS directory ? Also need to know once I restore back and open database to TUE security how do you tidy up the archive logs and dumps which are no longer require i.e. : weds..
I have read about using the set until time option but how to I get absolute time from when cold backup completed if this is the correct procedure.
