Is there a way to know what kind of Backup (table/tablespace/full/schema) by looking at export dump file ? If yes, can you tell me the command ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs this possible to take the dump of a huge table , say 500gb, into multiple files and then import it in other database? if yes how can we do it?
Note that it is a single table with 500GB of size.
I am trying to remap schema from dump file to new user but my import fails and giving me error.

I want to know whether it is possible to use export dump from Oracle 11.1.0.6 WIN 2003 SP2 Server to Oracle 11.1.0.6 Windows 7 standalone Machine (Test machine).If yes how to do it as i have tried but it is returning errors.So i tried to do it by pre-creating Tablespaces but even then its failing.
Note : I am Using EXPDP and IMPDP
I have taken the tablespace export it came 2.1gb and for the same user i have taken the schema export it came 5.1gb
why their is a lot of difference in size?
What will be the effect of insert statement on expdp if I am doing full table export?
View 4 Replies View Relatedlet us consider mytest schema is having 6 tables
tname tabtype
myt table
myaxpertlog table
abb table
ccc table
ddd table
xxx table
now from this schema i want full dump and also from myaxpertlog table i required metadata only not records.
c:> export mytest/log file=20130409mytest0904pm.dmp tables=(myaxpertlog) rows=n
if i tried i am get only one table but it does have records.
I have facing problem while taking backup on Windows 7 client of Oracle 11g R2 database. I have installed oracle 11gR2 for windows on windows 7 machine. I have created a directory like below in database.
On Database Server
SQL> create directory win_expdp_dir as 'd:expimp';
Directory created.
SQL> grant read, write on directory win_expdp_dir to lab;
Grant succeeded.

I've read a lot about the different types of backup available with Oracle (hot and cold backup). However, I was thinking of a different way of performing this task. I'm currently using Windows Server 2008 R2 and Oracle 11g Standard Edition. I'd like to schedule an entire backup of my server via the utility "Windows Server Backup" (available for free).That way, I could recover my entire server with all the programs and files in case the latter crashes.I'm wondering if this solution could be used as a way of backing up (and recovering) the Oracle database. Should I still set up a regular hot backup with the Archivelog mode enabled in case some operations/transactions were being done at the time of the crash (for the data integrity)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI set 'maxopenfiles 4' when allocating channel to sbt in my products env, I got 2 backup pieces in one backup set because that tablespace has 7 datafiles. Other configuration is kept as default, such as no maxsize, no MAXPIECESIZE, and etc setting.
I read document from Oracle. It says:"By default a backup set contains one backup piece. To restrict the size of each backup piece, specify the MAXPIECESIZE option of the CONFIGURE CHANNEL or ALLOCATE CHANNEL commands. " And also, maxopenfiles configure does not force another backup piece generated. So, why do I get another backup piece?
BTW, I tried this on another testing environment. I only get one backup piece even there are more than 2 times maxopnefiles datafiles.
I have new machine with oracle 11g and i have exported dump from oracle 10g . Now i need to import that dump on oracle 11g.

the file is not corrupted as i checked the checksum on both the servers and it is same.how can i restore the RMAN oracle 10g backup in Oracle 11g.
When you create a backup in SQL Server, whether the backup is on disk or on tape, SQL Server writes the letters TAPE to the first four bytes of the backup. Does Oracle write any specify value to the front of every backup, and if so, what are the first four bytes?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are trying to restore a database on the different server using RAM incremental level 0 and 1 backups. We have weekly Incremental level 0 backups along with incremental backups on daily basis. During recovery of Incremental level 0 backup, RMAN is expecting/looking for Incremental Level 0 backup of prior week as well. Is this the usual process for RMAN to look for prior level 0 backup though we need to restore from the current level 0 backup and roll forward by a week with subsequent Level 1 backup.?
We intend to restore from the Level 0 of 1/16 and roll forward with daily incrementals till 1/22. RMAN is expecting level 0 backupsets from 1/9 backup as well and keep failing since those backups are not available. quick inputs since we are in middle of recovery and trying to resolve if this is even doable.
When exporting a 11g R2 database with expdp using full=y the logfile does not show that package bodies have been exported
(DATABASE_EXPORT/SCHEMA/PACKAGE/PACKAGE_SPEC is processed but no DATABASE_EXPORT/SCHEMA/PACKAGE_BODIES/PACKAGE/PACKAGE_BODY)
When importing the dump into an empty database only package specs (besides the other objects) have been imported but all package bodies are missing.
Is it possible to identify what level of export by looking at export dumpfile .. whether it is a schema export,full export,table export,..
If yes.. how ?
We have two databases running on 10.2.0.4 and 9.2.0.8. Both are having the same unpartitioned table of size 80G. I am exporting the table on 10g by using parallel=8 and dumpfile with %U option. That took around 4 hours to export the table.
And on 9.2.0.8, i am exporting using below parameters, taking around 5 hours.
buffer=2000000
recordlength=64000
options i can try to speed up the export in both versions.
I want to take a schema level export .The schema size is 115 GB size . Do we require same amount of space to be available in server side (where we are taking a dump) as the schema size or less or more space is required in server side ?

I have problem on using "delete obsolete" in RMAN.
First, let describe my backup configuration.
1. Full backup every Monday (17-Oct, 10-Oct, 3-Oct, 26-Sep)
2. Incremental backup for other days
3. Enable autobackup of control file
4. Backup archive log every day
5. RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 30 DAYS
6. Execute "Delete obsolete" every day
7. control file is used instead of catalog
The results observed:
1. Backup of control files older than 30 days will be deleted
2. Backup of archive log files older than 30 days will be deleted.
3. Backup of datafiles older than ~14 days but before 30 days are also DELETED.
In my example, the backup of datafiles created at 26-Sep is deleted at 16-Oct.
I tried "restore database validate until time "sysdate-22"" at 17-Oct. And RMAN reported "datafile xx will be created automatically during restore operation". It seems that RMAN failed to do restoration up to 22 days ago. The retention policy I set seems not effective on datafile backups.
I checked view v$backup_set and the "Keep" is "No" and "Keep until" is empty.
The only thing I can think of, is the settings of "CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME". It is marked "7" in the Oracle, which is less than the retention. But I suppose this only causes the backup not deleted, but NOT be deleted earlier.
I have a table with 9 regions. How can I export them in 9 seperated dump file?

I am trying to export/import of a schema who's size is around 60 GB.
Export parfile goes like this..
file=expdmp1.dmp, expdmp2.dmp, expdmp3.dmp, expdmp4.dmp, expdmp5.dmp, expdmp6.dmp, expdmp7.dmp
filesize=10240M
log=explog.log
owner=owner1
Import parfile goes like this..
file=impdmp1.dmp, impdmp2.dmp, impdmp3.dmp, impdmp4.dmp, impdmp5.dmp, impdmp6.dmp, impdmp7.dmp
filesize=10240M
log=implog.log
fromuser=owner1
touser=owner2
ignore=y
I am going to run this on production. So want to check it..
I have 3 dump files: A.dmp, B.dmp, C.dmp . Can I use multiple REMAP_TABLESPACE entries in a par file to remap the table spaces for the above dump file?
Parfile would look something like this:
DIRECTORY=dpump
DUMPFILE=A.dmp,B.dmp,C.dmp
JOB_NAME=import_3_schemas
REMAP_TABLESPACE=A1:D1
REMAP_TABLESPACE=B1:E1
REMAP_TABLESPACE=C1:F1
The first remap entry is only relevant to A.dmp file
The second remap entry is only relevant to B.dmp file
etc.
When i do run export command through command prompt, its shows below error.
