View 5 RepliesI want to split the time frame into 3 hours interval as my requirement is that the number of application submitted between 12.00 am in morning to 12 pm in night and between that time interval i have to calculate in every 3 hours the no of application coming to DB
12:00am to 3:00am
3:01am to 6:00 am
6:01am to 9:00am
9:01am to 12:00pm
12:01pm to 3:00pm
3:01pm to 6:00 pm
6:01pm to 9:00pm
9:01pm to 11:59pm
We have a big hierarchical query which is now running for a long time (around 6 hours. earlier it was running for 3 hours). We have to tune this query so that we run the jobs within a stipulated time frame.
The query below inserts around 42 million records in to the table WK_ACCT_WSTORE. I have attached in the text file.
able to utilize "RMAN Restore of Backups as Part of a Database Upgrade [ID 790559.1]" and duplicate an 11.1 PRD DB to another server that only has the 11.2 software. When I attempted this, I got an error since the target DB is a earlier version than the rman client - "RMAN-06429: TARGET database is not compatible with this version of RMAN".
I tried to avoid connecting to the target database & just use the following syntax (duplicate 'prd' DBID 123456789 to 'dev') to let rman know about the backups it would need from NetBackup.
That also got an error - RMAN-01009: syntax error: found "single-quoted-string": expecting one of: "database, for, target, to". I tried other variations, but also got errors.
I may try this from a disk based backup, but have to wait to get a large enough NFS mount to be able to complete this. The following syntax was in the 11.2 rman docs:
DUPLICATE DATABASE 'PROD' dbid 8675309 to 'TEST'
UNTIL TIME "to_date('11/01/2007', 'MM/DD/YYYY')"
BACKUP LOCATION '/backups' NOFILENAMECHECK
PFILE='?/dbs/inittest.ora' db_file_name_convert='prod','test';
Our goal is to not have to install the 11.1 software on our new servers. Also, trying to avoid restoring with the same name & then renaming the DB so that ASM would have multiple directories for the DB.
OS: RHEL 6.3 for target host
OS: RHEL 5.9 for target host
Target DB: 11.1.0.7.12 - PRD
Auxiliary DB: 11.2.0.3.5 - DEV

I need to recover a tablespace called "SBSECD01_MDS" (point-in-time).I need to determine and resolve dependencies.
select obj1_owner, obj1_name, obj1_type, ts1_name, ts2_name from sys.ts_pitr_check where (ts1_name = 'SBSECD01_MDS' and ts2_name != 'SBSECD01_MDS') or (ts1_name != 'SBSECD01_MDS' and ts2_name = 'SBSECD01_MDS');
own1 name1 obj1type ts1_name ts2_name
--------------- -------------------- -------- ------------------------------ --------------------
SBSECD01_MDS MDS_PATHS_N7 INDEX SBSECD01_MDS -1
so I can see index SBSECD01_MDS.MDS_PATHS_N7 's ts2_name is "-1".reason: Domain/Functional Indexes not supported...My question,
1, what means ts2_name?
2. what means "-1"? (it looks not like a tablespace name)
3. in this case, Can I perform a successful TSPITR?
If not, how can do to make a successful TSPITR? (do I need to drop that index first, then recreate it after recovery?)

My dev application team iwant to test their application, and once that is done they want to recover to point in time. In my case they would do that after 9.0Am and once that is done they want the state of the database back to 9.0Am
What i am planning to do is:create a restore point at 9.0Am and once application testing is done recover until restore point. ..But i was suggested not to do that way instead my Lead want me to use just recover until timestampI asked what is the difference in doing in my way,the answer i got is by using recover until restore point, the recover process cannot apply incremental level 1 backups and it just restores to a point of incremental level 0, it looked strange to me.
I am working on an archiving strategy. I want to roll off transactions that are older than seven days, but only if they are flagged as Completed. The numbers of transactions are very large so this is a worthwhile venture.
The only strategy I have been able to come up with so far is to partiton on date. Then when 7 days comes up, sweep the about-to-be archived day for the few remaining not Completed transactions, put those into a new table (a new version of this partiton) and switch partitions. Each day I do this until the older parititions are empty.
Is there a way to know if a procedure has been completed/ still running?

ORA-01516: nonexistent log file, data file, or temporary file "10"I am using the following command to restore one of my tablespaces:
RMAN> run {

3> auxiliary destination '+DATA';
4> }The error described at the begin of this thread only appears at the end of the operation. I did some research, and the error ORA-01516 indicates that the datafile is not known by the database. When this error appears, i have to do a media recovery on datafile 10, which in fact exists, and is the datafile atached to the tablespace that i am trying to recover
i have oracle 11gr2 database on linux 5.5
i have the performed level 0 rman backup on 15th feb 2013, and after that i have incremental 1 and archives and controlfile backup. Before this no backup is the database.
Now i want to restore it to 12th feb 2013.so is there any ways to restore the database to that point time.can we restore controlfile to point in time.
I am running full database backup it take 10hrs to complete.
Size of the database=590GB
Platform:Solaris 9
database version:10.2.0.5
using catalog database.
Is there any way to reduce the time ?
Is there any query to see how long does the backup runs?Monitor the backup time?
We would take backup regulary by RMAN(catalog). Last two days we could not take backup. Backup start but after take backup some datafile then rman does not do anything.

Control files are fine, that are not restored.
RMAN> run

I am trying to import the schema into 11g database, which i took on Oracle 9i database. While import is running, data file is full as auto extension was not enabled.
I got the following error:
. . importing table "WO_GL_ACCOUNT_SUMMARY"
IMP-00058: ORACLE error 1653 encountered
ORA-01653: unable to extend table PWRPLANT.WO_GL_ACCOUNT_SUMMARY by 1024 in tabl
espace PWRPLANT
IMP-00018: partial import of previous table completed: 7055845 rows imported.
Then I increased the datafile size and finally Import terminated successfully with warnings. At this point, I want to know whether WO_GL_ACCOUNT_SUMMARY Table was imported with out missing any rows .

A form have a frame in the name of 'Frame5'. I need to change the title of the frame.

We are using oracle forms 10g, in formsweb.cfg file i gave separeteFrame=true and it works fine also like IE & applet window is opening. But User wants to hide the IE in backegroud and they want only applet window, so using VBScript we are hiding the IE and now only applet window apears this also fine.
I am running the report and displaying the report using web.show_document, report is running fine and displaying in IE with PDF format. But the problem is if i press the run report button report is opening and displaying behind the applet window not infront of applet window and there is no focus on the report IE also. How to display the report output(IE with PDF format) infront of the applet window and current focus on the report window(IE with PDF).
Note: If i use separateFrame=false then report is displaying infront of the IE screen and focus is on the report IE.
I have created tab canvases in the tab canvas there is three tab pages.and i have been used one datablock(use the datablock wizard) all the table column(items) is displayed only in the single tab pages--frames.for example
datablock--items_1.
tabcanvases--tabpages_1--frames_1--display all datablock item.
--tabpages_2--frames_2--none to display.
--tabpages_3--frames_3--none to display.
so i want to display datablock in all the three frames.
I have a Requirement in the Report.
During the Report Runtime the Each Page Contain 55 Lines. Their as Lot of Item Groups are available in the Report Each Items Group have Maximum 10 Lines in the Report with Summary Contain in the Repeating Frame
My Requirement is During the Report Preview if the Report Not Fitted in the Page then Whole Item Group is Require to Skip to Next Page.
I have a graph inside a repeating frame, but every time a run the report, it doesn't bring me all de graph, generally skip the last one, for example i show one graph per location but never show me the last ones. What can i do? If I ask 4 location, it bring me 3, if I ask 5 it bring me 4.

We are doing RMAN Duplicate set until time to refresh daily our test database for our developers and it taking long time to finish. We noticed on the restore log that RMAN was using a day old old backup pieces to refresh the test database and don't immediately use the latest backup pieces instead.
For additional details here's the rman duplicate command we are using which we run daily(mon-sat) at 4am once daily full backup on production completed.
RMAN Duplicate commands:
run
{
set until time "to_date(to_char(sysdate,'Mon DD YYYY') || ' 04:00:00', 'Mon DD YYYY HH24:MI:SS')";
allocate auxiliary channel ch1 type disk;
duplicate target database to testdb;
}
exit
Is there a way on how to let RMAN use the latest backup pieces instead?
