Export/Import/SQL Loader :: DataPump Succeeds But Dump File Does Not Get Created

Aug 23, 2013

datapump on Windows 2003/R11.2 I have a batch file that creates a daily dump of a schema in the DATA_PUMP_DIR - However, it doesn't! The script is as follows: REM Script to perform data pump export of the user01 schema and move to the

desktop.SET CURRDATE=%DATE:~10,4%%DATE:~4,2%%DATE:~7,2%SET CURRTIME=%TIME:~0,2%%TIME:~3,2%%time:~6,2%SET CURRTIME=%CURRTIME: =0%SET DATESTAMP=%CURRDATE%_%CURRTIME%SET DUMP_FILE=user01_EXP_%DATESTAMP%.DMPSETLOG_FILE=user01_EXP_%DATESTAMP%.LOGexpdp "sys/pwd@db  as sysdba" directory=DATA_PUMP_DIR dumpfile=%DUMP_FILE% schemas=user01 logfile=%LOG_FILE%  MOVE

For some reason when this is run from a remote server as a batch it fails to create a file although the output from the scripts has no errors apart from move statements and the expdp output is all good (it states that the file was created in the expected location). If the expdp command is run on the server itself it is all good.

Server Utilities :: Export / Dump With Expdp For Non-privileged Users?

We are DB users (not DBAs) and used always exp/imp bevore application upgrade.

Was googling arround and read something like "Oracle Data Pump - Time to let go of Exp / Imp". It seems exp/imp is obsolete.

Our system doesn't have "expdp" command

> find . -name expdp

is this because of too old SQL*Plus?

- does our DBA need to give us privileges to run expdp/impdp?

Server Utilities :: Taking Export Dump Using Expdp Of Some Schema's Of Total Size Is 300GB

Mar 30, 2007

I'm taking export dump using expdp of some schema's of total size is 300GB. This is the par file:

DIRECTORY=expdp
FILESIZE=32212254720
DUMPFILE=expdp_schema01.dmp,expdp_schema02.dmp,expdp_schema03.dmp,expdp_schema04.dmp,expdp_schema05.dmp,expdp_schema06.dmp,expdp_sche ma07.dmp,expdp_schema08.dmp,expdp_schema09.dmp,expdp_schema10.dmp,expdp_schema11.dmp,expdp_schema12.dmp,expdp_schema13.d
[code]....

here one biggest schema size is 250GB and the total size of all the schema's is 300GB. The file where am taking the dump has 350GB space but even then the expdp failed saying

ORA-39095: Dump file space has been exhausted: Unable to allocate 8192 bytes

why it failed and how to restart it and make sure it runs successfully without error.

Globalization :: Bad Character Set In Dump File?

Jul 23, 2013

IMPDP-ing a dump file that someone has handed me over into Oracle XE results in special characters, i.e. Umlauts, being messed up.

In a hex editor, the dump file shows  a) the token WE8MSWIN1252 near the beginning, but b) Umlauts obviously being encoded in DOS 850, for example "König" is encoded as 4b 94(!) 6e 69 67. Does this prove that the dump file is badly formatted and that I have to resign myself to the complicated approach mentioned at the end of [URL]...

Automatic Storage Management :: 10.2.0.1 RAC - ASM Created - DBCA Could Not Create Database

Jul 30, 2012

I am using 10.2.0.1 on OEL5. I have installed CRS, Oracle home, ASM on both nodes and everything is fine.

When invoked dbca to create a database, it says:

*'DBCA could not startup the ASM instance configured on this node. To proceed with database creation using ASM you need the ASM instance to be up and running. Do you want to recreate the ASM instance on this node?'*

Is it a bug? because some blogs say this is a bug. And patch 8288940 will solve this. They also say this patch is to solve the incompatibility between 11g ASM incompatibility with 10g. But here I am using everything of 10.2.0.1.

Server Utilities :: Dump File Determination

Mar 29, 2013

Is it possible to determine whether the dump file is created using data pump export or normal export method by just looking at dump file, If yes, how ?

Why i am asking such question is...normal export and data pump export would create a dump file with an same extension filename.dmp. So to avoid confusion during import, i would want to determine by what method the dump file was created.

Also this would be useful for me at the scenario when the customer sends me only the dumpfile and ask to import into target database. ( may be the customer don't know in what method the dump file was created ).

Importing From A Dump File - Incompatible Version Number

Sep 3, 2012

import from dump (.dmp) file. I'm running Oracle database 11g Enterprise edition release 11.1.0.6.0.

the import statement I'm using is

impdp system/password@orcl full=Y DIRECTORY=data_pump_dir dumpfile=mydmpfile.dmp logfile=min.log

and the error I'm getting is "incompatible versionnumber 3.1 in the dumpfile mydmpfile.dmp"

The dump file was exported using oracle 11.2.0.2.0. I tried to download/unzip the client version of instantclient 11.2.0.2 and add it to the PATH variable in windows and then re-run the script, but it didn't work.

How I should go from here to import this dump file without reinstalling the whole database?

Server Utilities :: EXP Versus IMPDP Interrogating Dump File

Jul 16, 2010

I have a bit of an issue with Oracle datapump dump files.

Today, I manage the export and import of oracle dump files. As part of the batch export process I have a script which essentially says:

For each schema realated to my application in THIS instance, export schema via the system user (system user allows me privs to all schemas).

On the import UI side of things I am able to run a "head -20" command on the dmp file and determine the "export client version", "date the schema was dumped", and "what schema it was dumped from". All useful info presented in my UI.

Sample output: Begin

EXPORT:V09.02.00
DSYSTEM
RUSERS
8192
Wed Jun 30 11:51:21 UserXXX.dmp
#C##
#C##

[code]....

Sample output: End

in that I allow the importation of production schemas into test schemas, (contained in a different tablespace). Based on naming convention I can determine the schema type (production or test). Additionally and probably most importantly, I am assured where the data has come from.

In looking at "expdp" and the dump file. Using the same method as above, it appears the data pump dump DOES NOT carry similar headers. Because of this, I am unable to return very little useful info from the dump file.

I realize I could run the impdp with the "sqlfile=myfile.sql" and then interrogate the sql file for the info. But on large dump files this would be fairly time consuming compared to a "head -20" on a dump file.
