Windows :: Copy A File To DB Server From A Remote Machine Using Plsql / Java
Oct 2, 2013
We want to copy a file from a remote machine to the DB server. copy \<IP_ADRESS>SHARED_FOLDERsome_file.sql d:copied_file.sql
I've used Java and a wrapped it into a PL/SQL procedure so I can do :
exec run_os_command(p_command => 'copy \<IP_ADRESS>SHARED_FOLDERsome_file.sql d:copied_file.sql');
The file was not copied.
I have mapped \<IP_ADRESS>SHARED_FOLDER to x: for example and issued : exec run_os_command(p_command => 'copy x:some_file.sql d:copied_file.sql');
The file was not copied.
But when I issued from the OS prompt copy x:some_file.sql d:copied_file.sql then the file is copied.
What can I add to the PL/SQL procedure so it wil work ?

working on setting up connection between a Windows 2008 server and a pair of Oracle 11g DBs in a RAC Cluster. One Database (let's say DatabaseA) is in one data center, and the other (DatabaseB) is an a secondary, backup database. The RAC Cluster is all set up, working fine, etc. However, I Need to set up the machine.config file on my Windows Server, to go only connect to DatabaseA, unless it fails, in which case, we want it to connect to DatabaseB. Think we could do this if the host app server was Linux/Unix, but it is windows, and I just don't have the background as to the parameters to set up in the machine.config file. They are similar, but different, and we want a very specific behavior (use DatabaseA, unless fails, then DatabaseB). Application is .NET 4.0 app.

I have one PLSQL package that does a join of two tables of remote database instance via the datalink. I just wonder where the most calculation(the join) is done, local machine or remote machine? Is there any best practice to have a better performance for such configuration.

This is a daily batch job which captures end of the day changes from a set of Oracle 10G "Source" tables in (.exp) file and another overnight batch job will read from (.exp) files and Insert into Oracle 10G "Target" Tables. The .exp files are created by Oracle 10G Data Pump utilities.In future we will be migrating Target to Teradata. All the tables will be migrated. No change in table names or structure.
The plan of action to write the later bit of PLSQL (which read from .exp files and loads it into Target tables) into Java so that the programe can be re-used on teradata.
Questions
1) Can Java read the contents with in .exp files and insert into Oracle tables?
2) Can Teradata read the contents with in .exp files and insert into Teradata tables?
3) Will we be achieving any benefit if we execute DDL (Insert) using Java rather than PLSQL. Obvious one being Platform independent.
there is no transformation of data in flight between .exp to Target tables.

I cannot run a Scheduler remote external job on Windows. Here's what I'm doing:
--Check that XDB isinstalled:
desc resource_view
--Check that MTS is running
sho parameters dispatcher
sho parameters shared_Server
--Setup an http listening port:
exec dbms_xdb.sethttpport(8080)
[code].....
This is the error:
orcl> select job_name, status, error#, actual_start_date, additional_info
2 from user_scheduler_job_run_details where job_name='TRYIT';
TRYIT
FAILED -1.074E+09
15-JUN-11 02.16.54.583000 EUROPE/LISBON
[code].....
I am certain that the communications and the credentials are correct, I've tried variants and get different errors. I think the problem is the job action. I've tried running batch files as well as OS commands, same result. THere is nothing useful in the core dump. Is there perhaps a Windows specific technique for running external jobs? Some way of nominating the batch file, or specifying a command interpreter?

I am having 3 oracle 10.2.0.5 version standard edition databases running on windows platform on 3 different servers. OEM is configured for all the 3 databases and we are able to access these OEM from their respective servers.
As per my knowledge, I should be able to access the OEMs of all 3 databases from my local machine. But Iam facing problem in accessing the OEMs from my local machine.
what changes need to be done so that I can access the OEMs of all 3 databases from one single local machine rather than checking it by logging into their respective servers.

I am writing a program for doing some file transfer between the client machine and the application server.I am using Webutil_File_Transfer.Client_To_AS to do the transfer and also using Webutil_File.File_Size to check on the file size at the source.
Once the transfer is complete, I also need to check on the destination file size (the application server running on Linux) for verification purposes and can't find the way to do it.

I was considering a solution to maintain a replicated copy of a database in a remote office. However we are using SE One edition of oracle, so native support for dataguard is not available. There definitely should be some scripting solutions for this task, but I can't find any to date.

I am trying to invoke program from my local Windows machine (exactly java executor, which is in my environment on c:javajdkinjava) using database package with Java stored procedure.
Everything is fired by SQLPLUS script, this script invokes package with Java stored procedure (jar loaded into Oracle) and that procedure is trying to invoke runtime process (syntax:
c:javajdkinjava -cp
and here ara my classes and main jar) using my local java executor. I added all permissions using dbms_java.grant_permisions (execution forced me to give permissions java.io.FilePermission to <<ALL_FILES>> for execute), moreover I added to my database user JAVASYSPRIV and JAVAUSERPRIV role. Unfortunately, beside this I am still getting error:
C:javajdkinjava not found (Note that lookup with PATH isn't done due to the oracle executable being setuid.)

I want my application to provide an end-user with ability to upload the files from their machine to SFTP server directly. So far, I have managed to write the function which uses java source and allows to upload files from the database. It works just fine.
The function looks as follows:
FUNCTION SFTP_CMD (
V_USER IN VARCHAR2,
V_PASS IN VARCHAR2,
V_HOST IN VARCHAR2,
[code]..
where V_FILE_SRC represents location of the file to be uploaded. The thing is that the FILE BROWSE apex item does not allow to specify the file location, it identifies it somehow automatically, when you press the button 'Choose file'. The question is how can I catch file's path, so that I can pass it to V_FILE_SRC parameter in my function? Should I write my own plugin? or hack FILE BROWSE item? =)

We are using sqlldr query to load data into a table. This is handled in a java code. We are uploading an xls file which gets converted into csv and then the sqlloader call works, which in turn creates a bad and log file for error messages.
But I am not able to locate the bad file(in filesystem) within java code.
Below piece of used.
File file =new File(destfilePath);
if(file.exists()){
FileReader fr = new FileReader(file);
LineNumberReader lnr = new LineNumberReader(fr);
linenumber=0;
[code]....
The above code is able to locate CSV ,but not the bad file(whereas both files created in same path).

I am on a font manager project. One of the features is to install the new font file. My understanding by "install" is to copy the file to the system directory Windows/fonts (correct me if I am wrong in this part). When I tried to use the java copy file api to do so, not surprisingly I got the access denied exception.
1. How can I do a "force-copy" of file into the system directory?
2. If that's not proper way, how can I create a "shortcut" like a softlink of the file into the system directory?
