Server Utilities :: ORA-01918 / User (SDE) Does Not Exist

May 25, 2010

I'm trying to move a complete tablespace with all associated schemas/users and data.

The command that I'm using is as follows:

impdp DP_USER/DP_USER directory=datapumps network_link=backup tablespaces=SDE

DP_USER has the IMP/EXP_FULL_DATABASE, as does the target of the database link.

The error that I get is the following:

Processing object type TABLE_EXPORT/TABLE/TABLE
ORA-39083: Object type TABLE:"SDE"."VERSION" failed to create with error:
ORA-01918: user 'SDE' does not exist

The SDE tablespace has objects from the SDE schema, but the SDE schema does not seem to be created along with the tablespace. How do I cause it to be?

Backup & Recovery :: Backing Up / Restoring Oracle Database Via Entire Backup Of Server

Aug 7, 2012

I've read a lot about the different types of backup available with Oracle (hot and cold backup). However, I was thinking of a different way of performing this task. I'm currently using Windows Server 2008 R2 and Oracle 11g Standard Edition. I'd like to schedule an entire backup of my server via the utility "Windows Server Backup" (available for free). That way, I could recover my entire server with all the programs and files in case the latter crashes.I'm wondering if this solution could be used as a way of backing up (and recovering) the Oracle database. Should I still set up a regular hot backup with the Archivelog mode enabled in case some operations/transactions were being done at the time of the crash (for the data integrity)?

Server Utilities :: Import Schema Into A Newly Created User?

Jun 6, 2012

I need a clarification on the below query:

1) DROP USER MK CASCADE;

2) Created user

3) Created objects like procedure,index... and granted privileges.

4) Now i am performing the import as below.

impdp system/.... SCHEMAS=MK DIRECTORY=EXPBKUP DUMPFILE=ABC_Export.dmp LOGFILE=ABC_imp.log INCLUDE=TABLE TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE

But nothing is imported.

Is this the problem of the parameter "INCLUDE=TABLE TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE"? as the user is new.

We are doing daily cold backup. Due to lack of disk space,we couldn't Hot backup. We want our database to be up when doing backups. Since only export/import is possible in our scenario, clarify few queries:

1) Export was done during off period from the live server.
2) We have a development server, in which we have to update our database daily. Can i overwrite the Development server using IMPORT daily? Since this import might show lots of errors (Object already exist), what parameters can i use for import.
