View 3 Replies I wonder if there is some tiny technique to trace a duplicity on a block label without committing the records ( Maybe on Validate or new record instance)
I have one procedure to check duplicate but what I remember that there is something very smart provided from oracle to do that.
In oracle 9i ........How to delete duplicate entries in a table ?
if suppose in a table named office, one or more entry(row) is repeated more then twice or minimum twice.
I need a query to delete the multiple entries ....
Note:
--->No constraints applied on the table.
--->No Primary Key
--->You cannot create any object....that is no view or a duplicate table can be created
I need to delete duplicate records from a table (indeed they are multiple duplicates).
Table Data
IDGroupQty
1KK30
1KK0
1KK19
2AA0
2AA30
3AA0
3AA30
3AA30
3AA9
My aim is to delete duplicates out of above data, with the below condtions.
1) first record with value 30 and then with value 0.
2) if there are 3 duplicate records ex: ID is 1 and Group KK, then i have to delete both 30 & 0 qty records.
3) If there are more than 3 duplicate records ex: ID is 3 and Group is AA, the i have to delete all the records with qty value either 30 or 0 and.
I have written a query like below.
SELECT id,
unit,
RANK ()
OVER (PARTITION BY id, unit
ORDER BY id, unit)
num
FROM temp;
with the above query, i am unable to mark this dynamic duplications.
How can i delete duplicate records from the table.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have written this below code. The logic behind the code is, Delete the duplicate record from a table, and delete those record from other 7 table based on the SL_NUMBER.
But Problem is After delete the duplicate record When I have use Below statement
RETURNING SL_NUMBER BULK COLLECT INTO rec_sl_number;
This statement unable to return approx 40 Lakhs SL_NUMBER
DECLARE
rec_sl_number dbms_sql.number_table;

I have a table like this
table:
id name plan code
1 sam normal 5
1 sam normal 6
1 sam special 5
1 sam Special 6
I need to delete data in such a way that one entry with normal and one entry with special plan should remain and should be with different code. Does not matter whether normal stays with 5 or 6 code.
I tried with rowid but it deletes either both normal or both special or returns same code for normal and special.
I want to delete the duplicate rows in a table without using ROWID.
I have the following data.
SNO SNAME SECTION
1 RAM A
2 SHYAM B
2 SHYAM B
3 KISHOR C
3 KISHOR D
4 RAMESH E
5 RAJESH F
5 RAJESH F
The Output Should be like this.
SNO SNAME SECTION
1 RAM A
2 SHYAM B
3 KISHOR C
3 KISHOR D
4 RAMESH E
5 RAJESH F
I'm going to do some testing, and for that I require to retrieve some data based on a single column e.g test_data_col, which -
1. Has 3 or more count(test_data_col) for a given set of group by columns e.g grp_col1, grp_col2, grp_col3
2. Within the set of rows retrieved, that particular column holds some duplicate values. I don't need the duplicates displayed, just know if duplicates exist or not.
This might explain what I'm trying to do -
grp_col1, grp_col2, grp_col3, test_data_col
1, A, xyz, HELLO
1, A, xyz, HELLO
1, A, xyz, BYE
1, A, xyz, GOODBYE
2, C, pqr, WELCOME
2, C, pqr, GOOD MORNING
2, C, pqr, BAD MORNING
So for condition 1, I do something like this -
SELECT COUNT(test_data_col) cnt, grp_col_1, grp_col2, grp_col3
FROM test_tab
GROUP BY grp_col_1, grp_col2, grp_col3
HAVING COUNT(test_data_col) >= 3;
In this same query, I want to do something that will tell me if the aggregate COUNT(test_data_col) has any duplicate values within it. Again, displaying the duplicates is not important here.
SELECT COUNT(test_data_col) cnt, grp_col_1, grp_col2, grp_col3,
/*some logic*/ dup_val
FROM test_tab
GROUP BY grp_col_1, grp_col2, grp_col3
HAVING COUNT(test_data_col) >= 3;With the proper coding to replace /*some logic*/, I get following values -
cnt, grp_col_1, grp_col2, grp_col3, dup_val
4, 1, A, xyz, Y
3, 2, C, pqr, N
I just gave dup_val column to explain what I'm trying to achieve.. any other way to know the existence of duplicates in the count aggregate will be fine.My Oracle version is Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0
I having a problem with duplicate rows with a query.
What I have so far is
SELECT D.Student_Id,
E.Latest_Reg_Date,
E.Attendance_Count,

I have a requirement to delete duplicate records. For example,if the below query retrieves count of duplicate records along with the column values.
select col2,col3,col4,col5,col6,col7,count(*) from table
group by
col2,col3,col4,col5,col6,col7
having count(*) > 1;
I would like to retain only one record with max(col1) which is a surrogate key and other records should be deleted.How to retain one record in a duplicate record set based on max of certain column.
say I have duplicate records in TABLE3, can I use following SQL to delete the duplicates?FYI, BUS_FID is unique number column.
TABLE3
------------------------
ori_id*************id***********r_f_a****r_t_a*******bus_id
72840000040572*****740040572****255******267*********1
72840000040572*****740040572****255******267*********2
2840000040572******20040572*****25*******27**********3
7840000040572******70040572*****2********6***********4
DELETE FROM TABLE3 WHERE BUS_ID NOT IN (SELECT MIN(BUS_ID) FROM TABLE3 GROUP BY ORI_ID);
consider TABLE3 has millions of millions of data, say 40 millions.Update, I have tried it and it is very slow...
how to insert data in a table by deleting previous entered data and only inserting current data like:
CREATE TABLE test
(
name VARCHAR2(20),
id NUMBER
)
INSERT INTO test VALUES ('aaa',5500);
[code]....
I got two rows. now when I do insert statement I want to delete the previously stored data and only insert the current data like:
INSERT INTO test VALUES ('aaa',8);
INSERT INTO test VALUES ('aaa',9);
it must show aaa,8 and aaa,9 bt not the previous values.
NOTE: we can not do sth like: update set... where id = ... becoz the values are dynamic.
I'm working on a feature that needs to check every table for data. At the moment I am roundtripping every time and running the query like this:
SELECT 1 FROM dual WHERE EXISTS(SELECT 'x' FROM table_name)
Is there a better way that allows me to get the result for all tables in one trip? I've tried a correlated subquery like this:
SELECT table_name, (SELECT 1 FROM dual WHERE EXISTS(SELECT 'x' FROM table_name) FROM all_tables
but I think that doesn't work because Oracle looks for a table called table_name rather than the value from the outer query.
I want to delete the duplicate records from a table without using Below 2 methods:
1> delete from table_1 a where row_id not in (select min(row_id) from Table_1 b where a.PK=b.PK);
2> Insert into Table_2 select distinct * from Table_1;
Drop table Table_1;
Rename Table_2 to Table_1;
how to delete duplicated records from a table without using row_id. I found the duplicated rows from a table using Analytical Function. But i could not use the Analytical function in the where condition.

I have a table with around 650,000,000 rows and we need to delete about 60,000,000 rows at the end every month and same amount of rows accumulate throughout the month. The deletion usually takes overnight to delete. We are using 10r2 in IBM AIX. The procedure we are using to delete is:
declare
ln_count number:=0;
begin
for i in (select rowid from table1 where some_id<2012090000)
loop
delete from table1
[code]...
When this procedure is started I mostly see that the session is busy in user i/o wait for db sequencial file read. Will using cursor instead will give better results.
I need to create a stored procedure in Oracle 9i which will automatically delete data one by one from a particular table and then by means of same procedure insert record one by one in same table.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know this is an old thread and I just started working with triggers. I want to check if the data being inserted is already in the table and if not insert it:
create or replace trigger t_triggername
before insert on tbl_tablename
for each row
begin
if(:new.user_id <> :old.user_id) then
insert into tbl_tablename(user_id, location)
values (:new.user_id, :new.location);
end if;
end;
what if I wanted to keep the user but only update location if the user is already in the table. I've tried doing it this way:
create or replace trigger t_triggername
before insert on tbl_tablename
for each row
begin
if(:new.user_id <> :old.user_id) then
insert into tbl_tablename(user_id, location)

DELETE /*+ parallel(resource,4) */ FROM resource where created_by = 'MIGN'
This is going to delete 4,84,000 rows of data . But my current issue is this is taking lots of time to delete the data . To be precise , its almost taking 25 hours to delete this data..The created_by column is indexed .

can we delete multiples table through the single query?
suppose we have 2 table first one is emp and second is client
i want delete all data from emp and client through the single line query
We have data archive scripts, these scripts move data for a date range to a different table. so the script has two parts first copy data from original table to archive table; and second delete copied rows from the original table. The first part is executing very fast but the deletion is taking too long i.e. around 2-3 hours. The customer analysed the delete query and are saying the script is not using index and is going into full table scan. but the predicate itself is the primary key,More info below
