TimesTen In-Memory :: OracleDataReader - Object Reference Not Set To Instance Of Object

Jan 25, 2013

I have a problem with executing oracleCommand.ExecuteReader() method. Whatever I try it always returns null and it won't create OracleData reader object. I'm using ODAC 1120320_x64 for .net 4.0 and timesten112241.win64. Don't sure what to do. Debugger is showing strange thing in OracleConnection object : ConnectionState = Closed, but output of ttStatus shows connection to TimesTen data store and ExecuteNonQuery() command works just fine with or without (in or out) parameters. But when I try to execute some query with multile output such as select *, I can't get any result.

I also have a strange problem with connection.Open() When I execute Open() i throws AccessViolationException that can be handled with [Handle ProcessCorruptedStateExceptions] attribute, but connection is established after that and my application works fine until I try to instance OracleDataReader object.

Here is the code:
OracleCommand select = null;
OracleDataReader reader = null;

select = new OracleCommand(selectStmt, connection);
select.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
try
{
reader = select.ExecuteReader(); // this line throws NullReferenceException
if (reader.HasRows)
{
[code]....

Just to mention, I tried it with different queries (pl/sql, plane sql, stored procedure) and all of them works fine in SQL Developer, but not in app.

Server Administration :: Convert Enterprise Edition DB To Standard Edition?

Nov 4, 2011

The only supported technique for converting an EE database to SE is export-inport, as documented in note 139642.1. Our client is reluctant to do this because of the downtime involved. It is however possible to open the EE database from an SE home, no problem.

The note says only Quote:When you just install the Standard Edition software, you will end up with Data Dictionary objects which are of no use (or perhaps even invalid) and possibly create problems when maintaining the database.

I executed the below insert statement, and I got the following error.

1 row created.Question:

1) Trigger of version 1 did not report any error during compilation, but during DML execution, hangs for sometime and gives the above error.
2) Whether direct assignment of Objects of greater size is possible inside triggers built on object Tables?
3) Suppose an object contain multiple attributes (say more than 20), then how to assign them inside a trigger?

Removing Illegal Characters

Dec 27, 2006

I am working with Oracle 10G, and have been working on setting up little pl/sql checks to make sure that the data that is imported is in the correct format.

The wall I have hit is removing illegal characters from the data I import. I have started to set something up where the string for a certain column must be be made of only there characters:

"ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz-" (note that there is a - besides just letters) and I may want to add some other characters later. So basically the script will drop or replace any character not found in my definitions with "", thus removing the illegal character and joining the previous and next characters.

I thought for sure there would be a script posted somewhere online that did this but I can't find it and my syntax skills are lacking.

We also face the same in oracle 9i version. we tried to re-org some tables for performance issue.But our tables have long and long raw datatype. then we approached the traditional way i.e 1. Export tables.2.Truncate tables.3.import tables.(use ignore=y).4.check the index validation.5.gather stats. Above was successfully done in our production environment.but some application downtime is required.

PL/SQL :: How To Access Type Object Variable Declared Inside Another Type Object

Mar 29, 2013

I have an Type-object typeObj1 that consists another Type-object typeObj2. this def has another Type-object typeObj3. how to access variable declared inside typeObj3. I have syntax below for each Type.

CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE typeObj1
AS OBJECT
   (
      SYSTEM_IDENTIFER                    VARCHAR2(50),
      PROCESS_TYPE                          VARCHAR2(50),
      abc                                            typeObj2

   )
/

[Code]...

/I have tried to access the type-object in where clause in following way

FROM TABLE(CAST(I_typeObj1 AS typeObj1)) ITTPRC,
......
Where
.......
AND (ADDKEY.ADDTN_INFO_KEY_TYP_NM IN (SELECT ADDTN_INFO_KEY_TYP_NM FROM TABLE(ITTPRC.abc)))

AND (ADTINF.ADDTN_RQST_TYP_VAL_DT  IN (SELECT ADDTN_RQST_VAL_DT FROM TABLE(     ITTPRC.def)) OR ITTPRC.def IS NULL )
AND (ADTINF.ADDTN_RQST_TYP_VAL_NUM  IN (SELECT ADDTN_RQST_VAL_NUM FROM TABLE( ITTPRC.def)) OR ITTPRC.def IS NULL )
AND (ADTINF.ADDTN_RQST_TYP_VALUE  IN (SELECT ADDTN_RQST_VALUE FROM TABLE( ITTPRC.def)) OR ITTPRC.def IS NULL )

In this way i am able to access the variable inside typeObj3. But problem is i am getting error "ORA-01427 single-row subquery returns more than one row" when i pass more that one typeObj2.

I passed the values like this in proc execution.

T_T_A_I_V  :=  typeObj3('asdasd',NULL,NULL),
                       typeObj3('String654',NULL,NULL),
                       typeObj3('abcdef',NULL,NULL));
T_T_A_I_I  :=  typeObj2('CampusCode',T_T_A_I_V),
                          typeObj2('PlanNumber',T_T_A_I_V);

What i have done is removed typeObj3 from typeObj2, variables defined in typeObj3 are added in typeObj2 then i got ride of above error. is it correct

Oracle 11g Client / ORA-12533 Illegal ADDRESS Parameter

Jul 10, 2011

I am working on a database application which works as a data access layer. The application uses OCI interface to connect and query to the Oracle Database. This application is certified on Oracle 9i and 10g client and works fine without any issue, but when I am certifying the application on Oracle 11g client, I am getting connection failed problem and following Oracle Error is displayed.

ORA-12533 illegal ADDRESS Parameter.

There is no change in the environment setting between Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g.

Following are the details of the environment

Version of Oracle 11g client is 11.1.0.6.0
Version of Oracle Database is 11.1.0.6.0.
Platform - Solaris 5.9 on sparc v9

On enabling client trace with support level also does not work. It shows TNS error TNS-12533 illegal ADDRESS Parameter.

what could be the possible reasons that the connection is failing with Oracle 11g client, while the same is working with Oracle 10g client. As I said there is no environmental difference when performing this test. The only change is ORACLE_HOME setting for the corresponding Oracle client version.

11g - Dynamic Field Reference

Jul 21, 2011

I am working on an application that requires very dynamic access to data. Users will build queries through the interface and the queries will be stored in VARCHAR fields for later use. The function that later uses the query has no way of knowing the field names or data types used in the selection query.

This isn't an issue in any program language that I have used before but in this case, we want to do this in a package within Oracle rather than an external application.

how to reference a field by its location or position in the query.

We need to get the list of fields so we know what each field is named and we need to be able to get at its value dynamically as well. If possible, checking the data type would be useful too but that is less important in this case.If we were doing this in say PHP, we could simply reference the query row and use a command like...

foreach($myrow as $field=>$value)

and this would walk through each field in the row giving us the field name and its value.We need to do this same type of thing in our package.
