SQL & PL/SQL :: Entering Empty String Into Primary Key Results In Error?

Aug 5, 2010

Is there a way to get around the "cannot insert NULL" error when inserting a row with an empty string.

For example:

create table t (
col1 varchar2( 8 ),
col2 varchar2( 8 ),
...,
PRIMARY KEY (col1, col2)
);
insert into t (col1, col2, ...) values ('Hi', '', ...);

Minimum Extent Error Creating Tables In Empty Tablespaces

Dec 30, 2010

I am trying to restore to a backup instance on a backup server. When I try to recreate the tables I keep getting ORA-01659: unable to allocate MINEXTENTS. The tablespaces and datafiles on both servers show as the same size in OEM.

I have dropped all tables and OEM shows tablespaces are empty. Then I run a script to recreate all tables. Most of the tables don't get created because their TS is full. After the script to recreate all tables runs, the main tablespaces are full, more full than on the production machine. I have also tried ALTER TABLESPACE xxx COALESCE; on each tablespace right after dropping all tables and before recreating them to reclaim free space. Why is it full? I've only dropped and created the tables, there shouldn't be any data in them yet.

ORA-01659: unable to allocate MINEXTENTS beyond 2 in tablespace PLUS_T...The backup instance was already there, all I did was drop the tables. Here's what I ran on prod to build a script to recreate the tables on backup server. Got it off Burleson somewhere.

SELECT DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL('TABLE',u.table_name) ||'; '
FROM USER_TABLES u;

SQL & PL/SQL :: Primary Key Violation Error

Jun 25, 2013

In my application I am facing peculiar error. For easy understanding I am considering emp table. In my package P1 I have two procedures Proc1,Proc2.

Proc1 : It is receiving employee details and for checking if employee already exists it is calling Proc2.
Proc2 : Here it checks if employee exists. If exists it deletes old record, commit and inserts new record in sequence.

But however in few instances Proc2 is returning unique constraint (CONSTRAINT_NAME) violated. I am very much confused why this error is coming.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Oracle Primary Key Error On Sequence Number Generator

Mar 11, 2011

I have a table called table 1 and I am trying to insert a few values in this table and i am constantly getting bogged down by a primary key error. Strange thing is this primary key called "ID" on the table is a system generated sequence value number. The error is

"ORA-00001: unique constraint (Schema1.LICN_PK) violated"

Table structure:
*****************************************
CREATE TABLE schema1.table1
(
ID NUMBER(12),
LITM_ID NUMBER(12),
PROG_PROGRAM_CD VARCHAR2(2 BYTE),
SCHED_NBR VARCHAR2(3 BYTE),
SCHD_VERSION_YR NUMBER(4),
SCHD_VERSION_NBR NUMBER(3),
[code]........

****************Insert statement*************
insert into table1
(id,
litm_id,
prog_program_cd,
sched_nbr,
schd_version_yr,
[code].......

why the error is coming up and any way to resolve it. I checked the max sequence number value and kept running it for a while and then tried to run my insert statement but no luck yet.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Dynamic Sql Query String - Getting Error?

FUNCTION get_attributed_sedol( p_ref_number IN VARCHAR2,
p_field IN VARCHAR2 )
RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
l_query VARCHAR2(1000);

[code]...

It gives me an error on the line where the execute immediate statement is.
Quote:
ORA-00905
missing keyword

Cause: A required keyword is missing.

Action: Correct the syntax.

But when I check my stack trace table to see what the actual query string looks like, I see this

Quote:
SELECT sedol INTO l_attributed_sedol_code FROM integration.tmp_attributed_sedol WHERE CLIENT_LEDGER_REF='LEAE057090' AND ROWNUM=1

There's nothing wrong with that, is there? It executes fine if I try it manually.

Restricting Entering 3 Consecutive Sequence?

Nov 14, 2010

i want to restrict the user if he/she enters any 3 consecutive sequence of numbers,characters,alphanumerics and special characters for example aaa, aAa, @@@, ---- , 111, 123 are not valid.

valid sequences are a1w,?1A,aa1,WW2,78a,-#a

i want to show the invalid sequence in a single query using regular expression function. suppose for example if user enters aaa,$$$,123 then the query output is aaa,$$$,123.

i have written two different queries for that but i want a single query

SELECT REGEXP_SUBSTR('EEE','([a-z])\1\1',1,1,'i') FROM DUAL;
SELECT REGEXP_SUBSTR('111','([0-9])\1\1',1,1,'i') FROM DUAL;
SELECT REGEXP_SUBSTR('@@@','([^-$])\1\1',1,1,'i') FROM DUAL; -it is not checking for -(hypen) characters

any 3 consecutive characters from key board.

The above issue was found during another issue and not the DB Slow response.  My Doubt is Whether DB response slow issue would be because of this. Forms :: Entering Multiple Data In A Form Containing 4 Blocks

Jul 18, 2011

I have 4 blocks in my form which is basically used for travel booking for the employees in a company within India

1) Header block :- contains info abt the person who is booking the tickets for number of employees. Here i have given booking no a primary key.

2) Employee Detail :- Here the basic info of an employee is entered. Here i have taken booking number as a foreign key and then given emp_cd & booking number as a composite primary key.

3) Travel Detail :- Here the travel detail of individual employee will be entered wherein a unique trv_no will b generated 4 every single travel. Again i have taken foreign key as bkng_no frm 1st blck and emp_cd frm 2nd blck and tkn a composite primary key which comprises of bk_no,emp_cd and trv_no. this is used to maintain the uniqueness for single travel.

4) Vehicle Hotel Details :- This block is placed on different canvas for same form.It is meant for Other details in which details regarding hotel,vehicle etc booking aftr reaching the destination is entered. In this block thrs no primary key, but i hv taken the composite primary key of 3rd block as a foreign key since thr will be multiple entries for this one entire travel.

At every level there will be multiple entries for each corresponding entered record. I am able to enter one single record properly i.e. for 1 emp i am able to enter multiple travel details and his other requirements but asi try to enter more then one employee info, his travel details, other requirements i face an error stating foreign key constraint violated.Parent key not found for 3 rd level block.

How can i get the desired o/p wherein all the multiple records for every single subsequent record are stored correctly taking all the constraints in to consideration.
