Forms :: Enter Arabic In English Text Field

Apr 24, 2013

I have a problem in Oracle Forms 10g. For any field that should be by default right-to-left (arabic), the reading order is changed when entering the field, but the keyboard is not changed to Arabic automatically. The user has to type ALT+ Shift to manually modify the language.

I worked before with Forms 2000 and Forms 6i (in client/server mode only), it was working fine. Is it impossible on Web Forms? Must I use a Java Bean? If yes, is there something existing to perform what I need?

Transfer Data To SQL Server 2008 / Arabic Data Showing

Jan 15, 2013

I am trying to transfer data from Oracle database table into another table resides in a SQL server 2008. A database link is already set, and data can be selected/queried using

select * from a_table@db_link

the thing is when trying to insert Arabic data from Oracle to a SQL server table

insert into a_table@db_link values(
'N''some data in Arabic'' ,
'11-oct-00',
'some data in English'
);
commit;

its inserted alright, but when we try to display the data it shows like this instead of displaying Arabic, the english data is alright, but also date show as garbage?!!

when trying to insert arabic data directly through SQL server its fine though.I suggested that we transfer data through ODBC to flat files like Acess and then to SQL server but the team rejected it since they're going to do it daily and the data is huge( we are talking more than 28000 records).

SQL & PL/SQL :: Converting XLS With Korean Data To CSV And Reading It

PL/SQL Release 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
"CORE 11.1.0.6.0 Production"

I have a .xls file, which has few columns with Korean data. I have problem converting it into .csv. I converted it to UNICODE TEXT, which was TAB separated. I replaced tabs with commas. but still saved it as .txt file. Now I am using utl_file package to open and read.

utl_file.fopen_nchar(l_dir, l_filename , 'R',8000);

I outputted the first header line, and instead of Korean fieldnames, it displayed some different characters.. cannot even copy-paste..

I am uploading the converted .txt as I cannot upload original .xls file here...

SQL & PL/SQL :: Converting Dates - How To Compare Data With Sysdate And Display

Jan 5, 2011

CREATE TABLE SCHEDULE_DETAILS
(
SCHEDULE_ID NUMBER NOT NULL,
SCHEDULE_TYPE VARCHAR2(10 BYTE),
SCHEDULE_START_DATE DATE,
SCHEDULE_END_DATE DATE,
RUNTIME CHAR(8 BYTE),
TIMEZONE VARCHAR2(40 BYTE));

SET DEFINE OFF;
Insert into SCHEDULE_DETAILS
(SCHEDULE_ID, SCHEDULE_TYPE, SCHEDULE_START_DATE, SCHEDULE_END_DATE, RUNTIME, TIMEZONE)
Values
(1970, 'Daily', TO_DATE('07/26/2010 00:00:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),
TO_DATE('01/26/2011 00:00:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'), '13:58 ', 'America/New_York');
[code]........

Taking Today date and timezone as EST, I need to run a select that shows all the rows , where sysdate falls in between

Start_date and End_date and RunTime, ( run time is basically the Local time of the TimeZone Column)

Basically we should Display rows by checking/Converting, Start_date||End_date||Runtime||timezone with Sysdate(est) then display.

From the Above Data these rows should be Displayed by that select, how to compare this data with sysdate and display.

PL/SQL :: Retrieving Columns With Non-english Characters?

Nov 26, 2012

I'm running a query using SQL Developer on a table which contains several companies names from many different countries, and one of the checks I need to make to ensure data consistency is to search for all rows which the name of company contains special or non-english characters (like ç, ã, ä as example).

I don't know what can I use to do this. I tried to collate using NLS_SORT but it didn't work.

Is there someway to select only the rows that contain these special or non-english characters, excluding from the results the rows that only have english characters? We have many languages in this table.

The field I would like to make the conditions on is VARCHAR2.

Globalization :: Non-English Character In Oracle 10g Express Edition

Oct 5, 2012

I have a table. It's name is INSTITUTION. It has a NUMBER INS_ID and NVARCHAR2(50) INS_NAME . INS_NAME can contain Turkish characters, such as "ğ,ü,ş,ç,ö". According to business logic, there can not be a repetition on the INS_NAME.User will enter institution name from a textbox in ASP.NET , and I check this name in database from c sharp code, if there is no repetition, we will add this record.

The problem is; when user enter a instition name that contains Turkish character, there is a duplication. If there is a instition name is *"su işleri"* , the both query; SELECT * FROM INSTITUTION WHERE INS_NAME = *'su işleri'*; and SELECT * FROM INSTITUTION WHERE INS_NAME = *'su isleri'*; returns no result, even though there it is.But if instition name is "oracle corporation" (there is no Turkish character) it query successfully. I have the same problem in Toad for Oracle 11.5.1.2. When I query database from toad SELECT * FROM INSTITUTION, the phrase *"su işleri"* has appeared. But when I query SELECT * FROM INSTITUTION WHERE INS_NAME = *'su işleri'*; , there is again no result.When I connect oracle database directly and perform the query SELECT * FROM INSTITUTION , the phrase *"su isleri"* (not *"su işleri"* ) has appeared.

Here are the language settings of the database:

National Language Support
National Language Parameter Value
NLS_CALENDAR______________GREGORIAN
NLS_CHARACTERSET__________WE8MSWIN1252
NLS_COMP__________________BINARY
NLS_CURRENCY______________TL

Restrict Values To English Without Requiring That A Value Exist In Request Table

Jul 8, 2009

I have the following tables:

REQUEST
----------------------
request_id
item_name
unit_of_measure
UOM_CODES_TL ("tl" means translation - this table has the same record 3 times, once for English, once for Spanish, and one for France)
----------------------
unit_of_measure
description
language
[code]....

So what I'm trying to do with the outer join ((+)) is to get the request record, regardless of whether the r.unit_of_measure is null. That works as long as I don't include the underlined portion above. As soon as I do that it only returns results where r.unit_of_measure is not null. That all makes sense to me, but I'm wondering how I can restrict the values to English without requiring that a value exist in the request table.
