SQL & PL/SQL :: Control Session In Database Oracle10g
Sep 30, 2010
i want to control our session in database oracle10g which means that:x is not allowed to connect to the database, if x try to connect to the database his session will be blocked and a message must be sent to the administrator.
How one should know whether RMAN is using target database control file or using separate catalog database. Also what one should do if he dont have catalog users credentials.
The documentation for v$database says: QUOTE V$DATABASE displays information about the database from the control file. Is it safe to assume that there will only ever be one row queried from this view?
I am having a rough time trying to install Oacle 10.2.0.3.0 on Z/OS 1.7.
Since my installation does not allow us to use X Windows nor Telnet, I have been forced to try to install using a silent install response file. The install does not seem to get very far and throws out an informational message, but no actual errors. All this is being done via OMVS on USS (UNIX system services).
The message I am getting is:
INFO: INFO: Unable to read the list of homes from the inventory.
I think it may be a permissions issue, and the support people are pursuing this avenue as well, but so far, no concrete answers.
I execute ./runInstaller -silent -responsefile <my responsefile.rsp>
I hava LOV and i want process events when click button Cancle on LOV then disable a canvas, but i don't know how process it.where could know events click mouse in button Cancle on LOV - Oracle Forms?
I am installing oracle 11g R2 (Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production) on linux box, by the time the SID provided was 9 characters like oimdbdevd. The completion of installation showing as oimdbdevd for sid. But the init.ora file and database table v$database are showing only oimdbdev.
A full database exported from Oracle 10.2.0.4 and import back to the same instance with different user/schema name. The whole database is in single tablespace, SOURCE_TS. Since SOURCE_TS already exist in the same instance. A brand new user and its default tablespace will be created before the import. SOURCE_TS cannot be access by this new user.
Since my database has many tables containing LOB column, those LOB tables will be pre-create before the import start. Initially, those LOB tables imported successfully but at one stage, it fails. Subsequent LOB tables all failed since then.
Quote:IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1950: "CREATE TABLE "I43NAV_LOC_VEC" ("VID" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE, "BLK_NO" N" "UMBER NOT NULL ENABLE, "DATATYPE" NUMBER, "VEC_STORAGE_TYPE" VARCHAR2(12) N" "OT NULL ENABLE, "REL_PATH" VARCHAR2(256), "BYTES_USED" NUMBER, "BLOB_DAT" "A" BLOB, "BFILE_DATA" BFILE) PCTFREE 10 PCTUSED 0 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255 " [code].......
I am not able to find out any reason why it fails, since out of 150, 80 of my tables containing LOB column were imported correctly suggested that my imp parameters were correct.
It doesn't seems to be my backup file problem too, I tried twice and the first LOB table failed is not the same with the previous attempts.
Initially I thought might be quota, but unlimited quota to the new tablespace is granted. Even if it is not granted, the error returned would be complaining about quota limit reached in the new tablespace, not SOURCE_TS.
If this is not about disk space or quota issue, in what condition the imp will tries to create table in SOURCE_TS, instead of my new tablespace? I will need to understand the IMP utility logic to sort this out.
My company brought Oracle10g server some years ago. I've noticed that ODAC support Linq and could be used to connect Oracle 10g.
Can we use ODAC 11.2 Release 4 (11.2.0.3.0) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio for commerical use due we already purchased Oracle 10g server?
I have an urgent requirement to kill an existing session if a new session starts for the same user. I have been reading lot of blogs and posts on the above topic, but could clearly tell me how to do it.
I thought of putting a process in 101 page when login button is pressed to catch this and kill the old session.
I have a production database with 2 node Physical RAC ENV on two separate machines , and we are going to enable audit trail parameter to DB values to capture all failed login attempts on a database.
we have done this on our testing ENV but dont know the procedure to deploy this steps on 2 node RAC ENV . I have done the below steps on our standalone testing ENV
1.Log in as SYS and connect with the SYSDBA privilege. oUser Name: SYS oPassword: Enter your password. oConnect As: SYSDBA
2.To enable audit on DB use below command SQL>alter system set audit_trail=DB scope=SPFILE;
3.Then restart the database.
4.After successful startup use the below command to capture log SQL> audit create session whenever not successful;
steps to enable audit_trail to capture failed login attempts on two node RAC ENV.
i am getting below error when i compiler a pro*c program with Oracle 10g client with IBM C compiler version 9.0 on AIX 6.1

I am a developer and not a DBA and I need to find th correct query to find the exact rowid of the record locked on a table. This is for a RAC database and locked record can be from the web form in oracle application server. When I try to get the correct row id, I get the following error:
ORA-01410 - Invalid row id For the criteria, the output is Dbms_Rowid.rowid_create(1, -1, 36, 7845, 0), why I get a -1 for the ROW_WAIT_OBJ#?
Additional Information: The lock type is DML and the lock mode is: Row Exclusive, the table is locked and the program is web oracle forms executing.
I am executing the query in Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0
How to accomplish getting the correct rowid? Below is the selection criteria I have:
We are using Apex 4.0/Oracle 10gR2/ Hp-Ux, We noticed that there is a process Running in Two Sessions that seems running since 3 Hours using 60% CPU,** 30% given below sql it executes in two Sessions!
declare function x return boolean is begin -- if instr(upper(:F4000_P4651_PLUG_SOURCE),'ORDER BY')>0 then declare l_position number := 0; begin loop l_position := instr(upper(:F4000_P4651_PLUG_SOURCE),'ORDER BY ',l_position + 1) ; exit when instr(upper(:F4000_P4651_PLUG_SOURCE),'ORDER BY ',l_position + 1) = 0 ;
I have an application in Form 6i and I have implemented expiration of Session-level database of profiles, the problem I have is that I do not know in which time expired the session because it shows me no message and the application is open, try to do something and begin to get errors .
Three databases: A, R1, R2. Database A is local and the other two databases are remote. Database A has one db link to each remote database (dblinkR1 and dblinkR2).
In some of my queries I need to get data from the remote databases, but the remote database to use depends on the application user, so, I would like to dynamically use one of the database links.
Something like this:
1 user logs into the application; 2 based on the user credentials the application defines the db link to use; 3 query data using the defined db link.
(for example)
SELECT a.col1, a.col2 FROM table_A@dyndblink a ORDER BY a.col1;
@dyndblink would be a "pointer" to dblinkR1 or dblinkR1.
Is there a way to dynamically define the database link to use (at a session level)?
One issue happens frequently in My database,Logwr process blocking other session,when i checked blocked session in v$session wait_class was commit and event was logfile sync,
As per this we predicate Logbuffer Might be full so i just to reboot server,Note server was 32 Bit i can allocate only 1GB of SGA SYStem not allows me to increase SGA further. Server reboot is proper solution?
I used to find out locked table and session from database....query with SYS user but i want to hand over the user session kill role to location level IT person so i have created one user in database named as rab and i have given "select any table,alter session and Grant dba to that rab user,but with that user they will drop and delete any table also

In my production ENV there is two node RAC database is running , and on both machine RAM size is (35GB on node1,41GB on Node2) and other configuration is like below.
Server: Windows 2008 R2 x64 Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 Standard Edition
I recently applied the Oracle® Database Server Version 11.2.0.1 Patch 16 I have several databases running on this box with the same application.Since then I've had lots of customers complaining about slow systems. The server has plenty of RAM availableI also have several other servers all on the same versions, same patch, running the same application with no issues.
Looking at v$session there are often lots of active sessions that have a sql_address of "00". I've never seen this before and I regularly look at v$session, as you can see for below these have been running for a while. The sessions do drop off but I am at a loss as to what is happening.
select username, last_call_et, sid, serial#, user#, status, sql_address, sql_hash_value from v$session where username is not null and status = 'ACTIVE' order by last_call_et desc, sid
I have setup of two node (prod-db1, prod-db2) clustered database 11gR2 on windows 2008 R2 server. Everything is working fine at this setup.
My question is: Is there a way to make the Enterprise manager Database control run and be available at both the nodes independently. What I see that even at node 2 (which is prod-db2) the EM-DBControl is (https://prod-db1:1158/em) - which means the agent is running at node 1 (prod-db1) only.
My question is that how to make the EM-DBControl also run separately at prod-db2. My idea is to make the high availability of EM-DBControl (in case Prod-db1 machine is down).
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control Release 11.2.0.1.0 Agent is running, dbconsole too. to the database through SQL Developer and SQL Plus connects. when you go to localhost:1158/em opens a BLANK PAGE that contains 2 "squiggles" view"|[ ]]" tried in different browsers, identical. a feeling that most web interface is physically not in folders.
Backup for database has been working fine until today. Today, about 1/3 of the way through the backup (large database), I got this... RMAN-12005: error during channel cleanup RMAN-10038: database session for channel sbt_4 terminated unexpectedly ...and the backup died.
Never seen before and the research I've done online has been less than useful. This database is an SAP/oracle db with brtools 7.20 (22) and is using the new parameter in its init.sap file, called "_rman_chan_failo = yes", to address disagreement between brtools and oracle about channel drops being ok if all datafiles backed up.
Nothing in the alert log at the time of this error.
I have installed OUI( Oracle universal insaller) and the with DBCA(Database Configuration Assistant) i have installed the database. Before DBCA completion of Database it give error message like database control not running. When i press OK the DBCA completed and database installed but where it shows the database control url it shows database url is null. when i try to give this url http://sweetdba:1158/em it shows error. why the url is not working. 11g database is working and connected.
