SQL & PL/SQL :: Columns From Table Used In Exists Block?
Jun 22, 2011
I have 2 queries one which gives me unique records and second which I created using EXISTS to eliminate duplication.i.e. First query gives me 4 records but when I put the table which is in the EXISTS block in the normal join, it gives me 8 records.
But the issue is I want data from the query which I have put in the EXISTS block.
select * from test_1 IDNameTotal ----------- 1A100 2B100 3C100 4D100
test_2 table contains the concatination of ID's with comma seperated. Actually in this table ID column is of datatype varchar2. select * from test_2 ID ---- 1,2,3
My requirement is to select the data from test_1 table where the id values in this table exists in test_2 table. I tried with the belowselect statement, but could not get any data.
SELECT * FROM test_1 WHERE to_char(id) IN (SELECT id FROM test_2)
create table test_1 (id number, name varchar2(100), total number) create table test_2(id varchar2(100)) insert into test_1 values (1,'A',100) insert into test_1 values (2,'B',100) insert into test_1 values (3,'C',100) insert into test_1 values (4,'D',100)
But i think if table CON_TEST doen't exist, an error message will appear. I know that in SQL Server we can check if table exists or not. So, i wonder if we can do that in Oracle?
By the way, is there any way to run a file script that contents TABLES, STORED, ... on a developed PC connect to oracle db server? (in case, i'm developing on PC, using Net Service Name to conect to Oracle DB Server)
1. For each of the Filename, if originating_site is not the same as receiving_site, it means that the file has been sent to receiving_site but has not been acknowledged received yet.
2. For each of the Filename, if originating_site is the same as receiving_site, it means the file has been sent and received by the receiving_site.
My task is to list out all the Filename per receiving_site that has been sent, but not received yet by the receiving_site. For example from the sample data above, I am expecting to see that siteA, fileB has not been received yet.
How can I do that? I had tried MINUS and NOT EXISTS command, but I am just not able to get the result that I want.
I am working on a form having three data blocks Travel_Inconvineance (Master) TI_Card_Info (Detail) TI_Limit_Indemnity (Detail)
On working TI_Card_Info i have 2 columns Plastic_Card_Id and Plastic_Card_Type which i want to be paste on TI_limit_Indemnity data block as i enter in TI_Card_Info.
T1 is having 2 columns t1_c1, t1_c2 T2 is having 3 columns t2_c1,t2_c2,t2_c3
I need to design a form which should be like
there must be a pop item (Dropdown menu) in a separate block.
If I select 1 from the pop item, T1 with 2 columns should display in a tabular form. If I select 2 from the pop item, T2 with 3 columns should display and T1 with 2 columns should hide.
So the form should be dynamic based on the selected pop item. Is there any chance to do this?
I am trying to break down a row of data that has nine periods that I want to enter into a table one period at a time. I am trying to use "IF EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM TABLENAME WHERE FIELD1 IS NOT NULL) THEN" through all nine fields. It keeps returning lines that have a null column as well as not null columns. if there is a better way of doing this. Here is an example of what I am trying to do:
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM TABLE_NAME WHERE LAST_DT9 IS NOT NULL) THEN SELECT NUMBER, 1COL9, 2COL9, 3COL9, FIRST_DT9, LAST_DT9, 4COL9 FROM TABLE_NAME; ELSE IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM TABLE_NAME WHERE LAST_DT8 IS NOT NULL) THEN
I have been trying to use case statements with oracle table type by really not sure how to go about it. I know it might be simple but it been giving me hard time.
Here is my Cursor:
CURSOR c_chk_style IS SELECT DISTINCT 1 FROM TABLE(CAST(I_message.ExtOfXOrderDesc_TBL(1).ExtOfXOrderSkuDesc_TBL AS "RIB_ExtOfXOrderSkuDesc_TBL")) item_diff,
[code]...
Now i know that the table type "RIB_ExtOfXOrderSkuDesc_TBL" will be always populated but the table type "RIB_ExtOfXOrderPackDesc_TBL" may not be populate and can be null. So i want to run the exists against the "RIB_ExtOfXOrderPackDesc_TBL" aliased pack_diff only if it is populated. If its null i dont want to run the exists clause.
I have the following Union All query. It throws the following error in SQL plus
ERROR at line 27: ORA-01789: query block has incorrect number of result columns
After doing some google for the above error it suggests there are incorrect number of columns in the Union All query.I could not figure out the exact location well SQl Plus says error is on line 27 at the first opening bracket like
I was about to move some tables from one table space to another but it seems it is not possible to move partitioned tables between table spaces of different block sizes.
So far the only option I have is to export and then import back the data.
know if there is any way to move a partitioned table between table spaces of different block size?
We have a table in the client database that has two columns - column parent and column child. The whole hierarchy of DB table dependencies is held in this table.If Report 1 is dependent on Table A and Table A in turn is dependent on two tables Table M and Table N. Table N is dependent on table Z it will appear in the db table as,
Hierarchy Table Parent Child Report1Table A Table ATable M Table ATable N Table NTable Z
Requirement :
From the above structure, we need to build a table which will hold the complete hierarchy by breaking it into multiple columns.The o/p should look like this
-ParentChild 1Child 2 Child 3 -Report1Table ATable M -Report1Table ATable N Table Z
Child 1, Child 2, Child 3 ....and so on are columns.The number of tables and the no of hierarchical relationships are dynamic.
SQL Statements to create hierarchy table:
create table hierarchy (parent varchar2(20), child varchar2(20)); insert into hierarchy values ('Report1','Table A'); insert into hierarchy values ('Report1','Table B'); insert into hierarchy values ('Table A','Table M'); insert into hierarchy values ('Table B','Table N'); insert into hierarchy values ('Report2','Table P'); insert into hierarchy values ('Table M','Table X'); insert into hierarchy values ('Table N','Table Y'); insert into hierarchy values ('Report X','Table Z');
Approached already tried :
1) Using indentation : select lpad(' ',20*(level-1)) || to_char(child) P from hierarchy connect_by start with parent='Report1' connect by prior child=parent;
2)Using connect by path function : select * from (select parent,child,level,connect_by_isleaf as leaf, sys_connect_by_path(child,'/') as path from hierarchy start with parent='Report1' connect by prior child =parent) a where Leaf not in (0);
Both the approaches give the information but the hierarchy data appears in a single column.Ideally we would like data at each level to appear in a different column.
I want to do an import of a table from my old dump file.The same table is already there in the development box but few more columns are added to that table while testing so in the dump those columns are not available.
TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=TRUNCATE The new table SQL> desc "TESTINVENTORY"."TTRANSACTION" Name Null? Type ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- -------------------------------------------------------- TRANSACTIONIDNOT NULL CHAR(26) BRANCHCODE NOT NULL CHAR(3) EXTERNALSYSTEM NOT NULL CHAR(3) EXTRACTSYSTEM NOT NULL CHAR(3) OWNERBRANCHCODE NOT NULL CHAR(3) TRADEREFERENCE NOT NULL CHAR(20) [code]...
I have a table that has 2 columns of type nested table. Now in the purge process, when I try to truncate or drop a partition from this table, I get error that I can't do this (because table has nested tables). how I will be able to truncate/drop partition from this table? IF I change column types from nested table to varray type, will it work?
Also, is there any short method of moving existing data from a nested table column to a varray column (having same fields as nested table)?
if a table contains two columns and both are part of the primary key of that table (Kind of obvoius).
should i opt for a index organized tbale in this case ?Or should i opt for another running sequential colum which would serve as a primary key of this table and define the actual two columns of the system as unique keys.
there is a drawback if a most of the tables of a database contain composite primary keys?
I am trying to update columns of Table A with the columns of Table B. Both these tables have 60,000 rows each. I tried this operation using following 2 queries:
Query 1
Update TableA A set (A.col1,A.col2,A.col3)=(select B.col1,B.col2,B.col3 from TableB where A.CODE=B.CODE)
Query 2 Update TableA A set (A.col1,A.col2,A.col3)=(select B.col1,B.col2,B.col3 from TableB where A.CODE=B.CODE) where exists A.code = (select B.code from TableB B where A.code=B.code)
When i execute these two above queries, it keeps executing indefinitely.
TABLE_FROM_BLOCK built-in Package is working in Forms 6i but not in Forms 10g. is there any other built -in available instead of this. how do we populate table from a block in Forms 10g?
I have data that the user is modifying on the form and a data block that is supposed to reflect those change (summaries) So I created
TYPE VehicleInfo IS RECORD (Vehicle_Desc ctl_fleet_vehicles.Vehicle_Desc%Type, Miles timecapture.miles%Type, Hours TimeCapture.Equipment_hours%Type);
TYPE VehicleTab IS TABLE OF VehicleInfo INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
VehicleObj VehicleTab;
I fill this up with the correct data, but I would like to be able to use this as a table in the data block (called Vehicle_Summary) In the past I have piped tables into data blocks from the server, but I'm unsure how to use a table I created in forms in the Query Data Source Name of the data block.
The database is running in archivelog mode and we have a standby with Maximum performance.There is no RMAN backup..We have noticed there is block corruption while accessing some tables.Now i would like to know are the corrupted blocks also replicated to the physical standby? Is there a way to recover the data from these corrupted blocks without shutting down the database ?
i have multi data block filed. and checkbox field which based on control block...My task is when i check checkbox only one field should enabled and my mouse goes to that field
My item field based on data block and checkbox based on control block,while i checked chkbox1 , only item31 on that current record should be enabled and i changed value only on that field
when i checked chkbox1 , my cursor goes to item31...not item32
i have a master detail form, In Master block we have one field cheque amount and in Detail block we have field receiveable amount invoice wise. if company paid us a cheque amount we will enter this amount in Master block field Cheque amount and in detail block there will be invoice wise receivable amounts. i want to distribute the cheque amount in detail block invoice wise for example
Cheque amount in master block = 291
Invoice wise receiveable amount is as follows
Invoice No , receivable amount , Received amount
10, 196 , 0 20 , 95 , 0 30 , 54 , 0
Result should be as follows:
Invoice No , receivable amount , Received amount
10, 196, 196 20 , 95 , 95 30 , 54, 0
Received amount field should be distributed according to the receivable amount when recevied amount = cheque amount then remaining will be 0.
I have a multi record control block (basically a text item displaying 6 records) where user enters values and I want to process the values using pre-insert trigger.
I want to read value in each record and then do some tasks using a pre-insert trigger before I commit the values. To navigate between the records I was using first_record, next_record, clear_record built-ins but it gives errors like "40737-illegalrestricted procedure next_record in pre-insert trigger".
Perhaps this is a common request : I have 2 tables:
Table A ------- ID Value 1 a 2 b 3 c
Table B ------- ID AnotherValue 1 x 2 y
I am hoping to append a column from Table B to Table A based on a simple sql join (e.g:
Table A
ID Value AnotherValue 1 a x 2 b y 3 c (null)
)
I would rather stay away from the standard update statement since it takes far to long and I'd prefer not to use create table as I don't want to duplicate any data...is this possible to do ? (e.g: just insert the columns into this table ?) - or if it's possible the performance overhead just wouldn't make it worth it ?
