Query To Exclude All Rows Based On Single Row Filter?

Jun 10, 2011

I'm using Oracle 10g.

Question: How can I write query to return just ID only if all the codes for that ID end in 6.

If I use
SQLselect id from table_a where code like '%6'
then I also get ID=1, which I don't want.

TABLE_A
ID code
=======
1 100
1 106
2 206
3 306
3 336
4 400

Desired Result
ID
==
2
3

SQL & PL/SQL :: Query On Single Column To Display As Rows

NO

desired output is:

The table has single column & the values may differ,that is, they may have 1-2-3-...-n in a single row, but the desired output is to be in the rows as shown above.

I tried concepts of SQL up to my knowledge, but I failed. The query to be done only in SQL.complete this query.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Exclude Single Schema From Autostats Gathering Feature In 11g

Jul 5, 2011

I need to exclude a single schema from the autostats gathering feature in 11g. The tables in this schema are analyzed at the appropriate time via the application code. The autostats gathering job sometimes kicks in at a time in which the tables are getting updated or loaded which can skew explain plans during the updates/inserts.

I've searched through the oracle documentation and cannot find a way to simply "exclude" the schema without locking it. I see it is possible to disable the autostats at the entire db level but not at the schema level.

SQL & PL/SQL :: All Selected N Consecutive Rows Retrieved In Single Query

Nov 11, 2011

I have table T with 50,000 rows

create table T
(student_id number,
class_id number,
quiz_id number,
marks number)

some sample rows like

INSERT INTO T VALUES (1,1, 1, 50);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (2,2, 2, 40);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (3,1, 3, 34);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (1,1, 4, 10);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (1,1, 5, 30);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (1,1, 6, ‘29);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (3,2, 7, 34);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (3,2, 8, 33);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (3,2, 9, 56);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (1,1, 7, 90);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (2,2, 8, 0,);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (1,1, 8, 80);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (2,2, 8, 65);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (1,1, 9, ‘34);
INSERT INTO T VALUES (2,2, 9, 11);

each student belongs to one class_id. each student participates in many quizes. each quiz has its unique id. each student can appear once in a quiz_id

I am doing the below analysis and query:

1. with below query I am finding which student_id had most marks in any 3 successive quizes (see the 3-1 part below) in the query..

SELECT QUIZ_ID,
STUDENT_ID,
SUM (MARKS)

[Code]....

SQL> /

QUIZ_ID STUDENT_ID CONSECMARKS
---------- ---------- -----------
7 1 170
6 1 166
8 1 129
5 1 106
8 3 89
8 2 76
3 3 68
7 3 67
8 2 65
1 1 60
9 3 56
9 1 49
2 2 40
4 1 40
9 2 11

15 rows selected.

With above query, I can play around and find for any 'n' number of consecutive quizes, like marks in 2 consecutives quizes, 3, 4 and so on but for each 'n' value I've to run a seperate query mentioning (2-1) or (3-1) or (4-1) and so on..

since my table is big and there are about 400 quizes so what I want to find out is for each 'n' consecutive quiz (from 1 to 400) which student had most marks for each consecutie 'n' quiz. Like in 1 (consecutive) quiz which student had the highest marks and then 2 conseuctive quiz who had most marks and then in 3 consecutive quiz who had most marks and so on till 400 consecutive quiz who had most marks... rather than running query for each 'n' value seperately i want a single query that can give me a summary of most marks in each n consecutive quizes...

my sample output is:

Nth consecutive quiz student_id sum(marks)
1 1 90
2 1 170
3 1 246
4
.
.
.
100
.
.
200
.
.
300
.
400 ? ?

Is this possible to get the above output from one single query? If there are two or more students with equal most marks for any 'n' conseutive quizes then both should come in the summary.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Filter Each Row In A Select Statement Based Upon A List?

May 18, 2011

Is it possible to filter each row in a select statement based upon a list that you loop through. For instance in a where clause having an in statement but rather than selecting any value in the in statement looping the main select through each value in the "in" filter.

Eg:

CREATE TABLE TRANSAC(
Item_id number ,
Transaction_Date DATE,
Category_id number
)

You could then write

SELECT MAX(Transaction_Date)
from TRANSAC
where category_id = '141'

and then where category_id = '142' then '143' etc.

I understand i could use an inline view instead of a where clause but the issue is that i already have the list of values I want to compare against.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Filter In Xplan Not In Query

Feb 9, 2011

This is probably a priv/similar issue but I've not seen it before.

select * from ccs.paymentmethod;

PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plan hash value: 2424632210
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
| Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
| 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 19791 | 2589K| 39 |
|* 1 | FILTER | | | | |
| 2 | TABLE ACCESS FULL| PAYMENTMETHOD | 19791 | 2589K| 39 |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
---------------------------------------------------
1 - filter(1=2)

I get no rows - why? Obviously the predicate 1=2. Except, equally obviously, I don't have that in the query. On checking the objects views I see that ccs.payment method is indeed a table within that schema not a view or anything like that and when checking through another user I can see it has data within.

The "problem" user can see the table exists, just cant ever query rows back. Another user can see the table exists and can get data back.

Like I say, likely a priv or similar issue but I'm damned if I've seen this before, I'd not expect a priv issue to cause a 1=2 filter appear in a plan and its not a view that I can tell.

I'm still digging at my end and this may be irrelevant but when I browse to the table in Sql Developer I can see the columns tab ok, on clicking the "data" tab it throws "ORA-00904: "ORA_ROWSCN": invalid identifier" out. Maybe nothing, maybe related.

Google results suggest that error in SQL Dev is due to implementations of policies/VPD presence on the table.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Determine Rows Based On Their Grouping

Jul 9, 2010

Ok assume there is a table (TableA) in this format

col1col2 col3col4col5col6
--------------------------------------------------------------
R1route1route1Description1AABBCC
R1route1route1Description1AACC
R1route1route1Description1CCBB
R2route2route1Description2GGKKLL
R2route2route1Description2GGLL
R2route2route1Description2LLKK

[Code]..

The data in the table was imported from a csv file and there is a relationship between the rows. Each combination of col1, col2 and col3 describes a full route of a journey. The row with an entry in col6 describes the full route and the other rows describes each leg in the route.

For example, for R1, the route is AA to BB via CC.
Another example for R4 the route is FF to SS via XX, PP, and OO.

What i would like to do is missing a route. For example the route for R3 is DD to EE via FF. There is an entry for DD to FF but is missing an entry for FF to EE.

The results should return the following rows which are incomplete

R3route3route1Description3DDEEFF
R3route3route1Description3DDFF
R5route5route5Description5RRTTUU|VV

What is the best way to do this?

Here is what i have come up with but it doesnt quite returned the correct result.

select * from tableA a
Where not exists(
select 1 from tableA b
where instr(col6,col4,1)>0 and instr(col6,col1,1)>0)
And a.col1=b.col1
And a.col2=b.col2
And a.col3=b.col3
)

Is there an easier way to achieve this?

101 1 N1
101 2 N2
101 3 N3
101 4 N4
101 5 N5

1st parameter will be EMPID, 2nd parameter is orderID's (any combination comma separated) and 3rd is "Position after".

i.e proc call will be like "REORDER(101, '1,3', 4);"

so that, 1,3 should come after 4th position and everything should get reorder

i.e
2 --> 1
4 --> 2

5 --> 5
6 --> 6

TestCase:

CREATE TABLE TEST_TABLE(EMPID NUMBER, ORDERID NUMBER, ENAME VARCHAR2(20));

The above text boxes are all working fine as I have viewed the values using the message command. My proplem is that if i leave the fields blank it inserts ':student.txtclientname' into the row, otherwise it returns "Could not insert record"
