I tried inserting PDF file into a CLOB column , in the below example l_bfile is a bfile datatype. and I'm inserting l_bfile to CLOB column.
l_bfile := bfilename('C: est', 'test.pdf');
But It is throwing below error:

I have to Insert data from one table to another table. First table contains some clob datatype columns and second table have carchar2 datatype.

I used DBMS_LOB.SUBSTR but I received BUFFER TO SMALL ERROR.
I'm updating a large piece of legacy code that does the following type of insert:
INSERT INTO foo_temp
(id, varchar2_column)
SELECT id, varchar2_column
FROM foo;
We're changing varchar2_column to clob_column to accommodate text entries > 4000 characters. So I want to change the insert statement to something like:
INSERT INTO foo_temp
(id, clob_column)
SELECT id, clob_column
FROM foo;
This doesn't work, since clob_column stores the location of each text entry, rather than the actual content. But is there some way that I can achieve the insert with one call to a select statement, or do I need to select each individual record in foo, open the clob_column value, read it into a local variable and then write the content to the matching record in foo_temp?

Just wanted to export a clob field to .txt file, the maximum length of the clob field exceeds the limit 32767. So only partial data is exported to flat file. is there any way to export the entire data available in clob field irrespective of the size or lenght.
Length of the clob is 301829

I am migrating data from DB2 to Oracle. I used DB2 export to extract the data specifying lobsinfile clause. This created all the CLOB data in one file. So a typical record has a column with a reference to the CLOB data. "OUTFILE.001.lob.0.2880/". where OUTFILE.001.lob is the name specified in the export command and 0 is the starting position in the file and 2880 is the length of the first CLOB.
When I try to load this data using sqlldr I'm getting a file not found.Attached is a copy of the control file and output from testing
PS. I cant use the DB2 option LOBSINSEPFILES which creates a separate file for each CLOB column because the table has over 14 million rows....and creating 14 mil files causes OS inode problems...

I am having problem in inserting a long file (80000 B) into CLOB cloumn in oracle database 10g.

I would like to spool a clob column to a flag file, however some of the clob are greater than 32k, and I have to have the same record in a single line in the file. Is there any way to achieve this through spooling?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have extracted data from table and write into one text via sqlplus utility in shell scripts. i got correct output. i am having two issues on the output file
1) Outfile file size is huge high compare then table segment data.
2) last column having extra space.
The output column is clob datatype. so i have added set long 50000 and set longchunksize 50000 parameter. after adding these only i got above issues. without two options, i am not getting this isssue but lines are wrapped.

I have a view ( from many tables) , an error view in wich i monitor errors that appear in my project. This view should be empt always but whenever a error occurs the view shows me this. I wanna put a trigger or something like that on that view to send me an e-mail whenever a line is inserted in that view. ( I don't wanna use a job for that to make a count because this will affect the entire database).

I created a Table with a single column varchar2.. in which I wanted to insert value like 'BBBBAB1'... till 'BBBBAB100'
Created a sequence starting with 1...
and inserted single row, and multiple rows using loop also; by using below code -
insert into Trans SELECT CONCAT('BBBBAB', Trans1.NEXTVAL) from dual;
but whenever I see the values they are not as required ... 'BBBBAB1' but one character 'B' is missing, and the values populating are 'BBBAB1'.. 'BBBAB100'
Ive added a new field to a table The new field is called Release_confirmation. How do I add the same value to this field for all rows ie. confirm.
So Id basically be setting Release_confirmation to confirm for all existing rows.

I have a table in oracle sql developer showing years, IDs and attendance etc I'm wanting to create a report based on this table but have encountered a problem with the years.
The years currently run from 2006 to 2009 and the problem is that some of the IDs are only present for say 2007 and 2008, thus leaving nothing for 2006 and 09. This in turn creates problems in the report.
What i would like to do is in the table, for each ID that is missing any years, is to insert a single row with just the ID and year so that in the report it will show a blank instead of nothing at all. So for the above example i would have numbers for 2007 and 2008 and for 2006 and 2009 there would just be a space.
