JMS Client Receives AQ Messages Asynchronously With A Delay Of 15 Seconds
May 7, 2013
I have written a stand alone (Java SE 1.6) JMS client program to consume AQ's messages via Oracle JMS API (aqapi.jar). The queue is a multiple consumer queue, and i just created one subscriber on it. My JMS client program receives messages asynchronously by setting the MessageListener using the setMessageListener method.
Watching the work of the program, I found significant delays in receiving messages that are up to several seconds. When I turned on the diagnostic trace, I found that in the absence of messages listener (AQjmsSimpleScheduler) gradually increases the delay time up to 15 seconds:
Thread-1 [Mon May 06 22:14:23 MSK 2013] AQjmsSimpleScheduler.feedData: Got a non null message, the sleep time is reset to 0
Thread-1 [Mon May 06 22:14:23 MSK 2013] AQjmsListenerWorker.run: sleep 0 millisecond.
Thread-1 [Mon May 06 22:14:23 MSK 2013] AQjmsSimpleScheduler.feedData: Got a null message, the sleep time is doubled to 1000
Thread-1 [Mon May 06 22:14:23 MSK 2013] AQjmsListenerWorker.run: sleep 1000 millisecond.
Thread-1 [Mon May 06 22:14:23 MSK 2013] AQjmsListenerWorker.doSleep: try to wait for 1000 milliseconds
[code]....
Thus, in the worst case, the delay between placing the message in the queue and receiving it by the JMS client is 15 seconds.
Can I control this latency? For example, I would like to explicitly set the levels of the time delays.

I began studying Oracle and SQL Developer and I have the following question: If I run a large number of INSERT commands into a table using a SQL Worksheet from the SQL Developer, the fact that in the "Script Output" window a "1 rows inserted" message appears for each created record. slows the execution. How can I inhibit displaying this message in the "Script Output" window during the execution of my INSERT commands?

I've been using datapump for a long time now but I have not come across this problem before.
Importing just two tables: Table1 data=100Mb=11 million rows
Table2 data=4.2Gb =19.6 million rows
Table1 ran for approx. 5 hours
Table2 ran for approx. 15 hours
If I run the impdp importing both tables in the same par file the default tablespace of the users the import is running as runs out of space due to ORA-01691: unable to extend lob segment <owner>.SYS_LOG0001175799C00045$$ by 512 in tablespace USERS. I do not understand why it is creating objects in order to import tables into someone elses schema.
The environment is Red Hat LINUX 4.1.2-51 running Oracle 11.2.0.1 of Oracle11gR2. This is a 9 node RAC using ASM.

we have a problem with forms containing webutil - they start very slow, after like a timeout, while forms without start ok. since i think it has something to do with name resolution i'll first describe our environment.
we have an external net with users, ip range 10.48.x.x, connected to a cisco router which is resolved in that network with the name 'cro'. so the users from that external net access us via 'http: //cro/.....'.
behind that router we have our production net, ip range 192.168.x.x, with forms-, reports- and http-servers. external users accessing our forms server will have to klick a link "http: //cro:8888/forms......'. that way they acces the cisco router which, depending on the port (here 8888) will NAT them to the correct forms server, say http: //forms1:7778/forms....' - up to here everything works well and fast with 'normal' forms (eg. without webutil).
forms *with* webutil on the other hand take like 30-60 seconds to load from that external net (via the router) while they load fast when called from a test-client in the internal 192.168.x.x net. after searching i found [URL] with a hint to alter the clients hosts file.
what i've found out so far is that the clients from the external 10.18.x.x net try to name resolve the *forms servers* in the internal net 192.168.x.x - i can cheat them by providing a fake hosts file which resolves the server named forms1 to the ip of the cisco router cro, but thats a temporarily and bad solution since i cant do that to real clients because i have no access to them.
so... how can i tell a webutil loaded form not to try to connect to the server they are started from (forms1) but to use the host they have been given to start from (cro)? or is there any other solution (which ofc cant include fiddling with the external net or external clients)?

in my application I'm starting jobs via dbms_scheduler for background activity on user action.
I know from my logs that the procedure executed in the job finishes within 2 seconds.
But in the AWR I find execution time for the job of 360 seconds (single execution because of unique job id).
How do I find out why the job takes so long?
And more important: how do I speed up the job?
(details will follow...)

What could be the reasons that some queries execute fast when executed on sqlplus on server, whereas the same queries run slower with same input values fed from application screen?
One issue I guess would be bind variable peeking while using application whereas executing from sqlplus is causing hard parsing and thus getting rid of "peeking"
If displaying the data on application screen is taking time after data has been fetched, where I can see this delay?
I understand the elapsed time under 'Fetch' in tkprof will show time taken to fetch from database and not the time taken to be displayed in the application GUI
finally how to set arraysize in jdbc to improve performance by reducing roundtrips?

I have a date column in a table, I need to fetch records from 27:11:11 00:00:10 to 30:11:11 00:00:10 (DD:MM:YY HH:MI:SS). i.e between seconds/min/hrs.
expecting Something like this,
SELECT * FROM TABLENAME WHERE MODEDATE BETWEEN
TO_CHAR('27/11/11 00:00:10','DD-MN-YY HH24:MI:SS') AND
TO_CHAR('30/11/11 01:10:10','DD-MN-YY HH24:MI:SS')

I have a date field which is passed as in parameter defaulted to sydate With the passed date as input I need to run an eod for every 15 mins by calculating
v_sdate := TRUNC ( in_sdate
- (MOD (TO_CHAR (in_sdate, 'MI'), 15) * 60)
/ (24 * 60 * 60),
'MI'
);
v_edate := TRUNC (in_sdate, 'MI');
Using the above v_sdate and v_edate I am calculating the start date and end date and compare these in my final select query.Now in case of rerun of old date, I am calculating start date as : v_sdate := TRUNC (in_sdate, 'MI') - 15 / 1440;
But in the above calculation, I am not considering seconds, but I need to consider those also, because say I ran the eod at 23-oct-2012 12:23:13 then my start date in case of re run should start from 12:23:14 secs , how can I achieve that?

I have to create the following table. The fields Trend_Date, Price and Trend are already given. I have to calculate the field permanently and to insert the value in this permanent table.
Fields:
The field price belong to the value of a product during the trade.
The field trade_date belongs to the moment of the trade.
The field trend belongs to the future behavior of the the price. Here, the price of the present moment is compared to the following price (possible characteristics: 'UP', 'DOWN', 'STABLE').
The field permanently belongs to the time (in seconds) how long the value of the field Trend_Date (depending on the price) is still true.
For example:
Row 1: The trend in row 1 is 'UP' and it has a price of '11'. Until row 3 this remains true (the price is greater or equal to 11). In this case, the difference between row 1 and row 3 are 9801 (rounded) seconds.
Row 2: The trend in row 2 is 'DOWN' and it has a price of '12'. This remains true till to the end (the price is never greater than 12) In this case, the difference between row 2 and row 11 are 97346 (rounded) seconds. To calculate the 97346 seconds the field has to consider that between row 2 and row 11 are two days. There will be no trade between 18:00 and 07:00 o'clock. This belongs to 7 hours for each days, in seconds (2*46800) 93600.
-> 190945-93600 = 97346s
Row 6: The trend in row 6 is 'UP' and it has a price of '5'. This remains true till to the end (the price is never smaller than 5) In this case, the difference between row 6 and row 11 are 65729 (rounded) seconds. To calculate the 65729 seconds the field has to consider that between row 65729 and row 11 are one days. There will be no trade between 18:00 and 07:00 o'clock. This belongs to 7 hours for each days, in seconds (1*46800) 46800.
-> 112528-46800 = 65729s
Row 9: The trend in row 9 is 'STABLE' and it has a price of '8'. Until row 10 this remains true (the price is equal to 8 ). In this case, the difference between row 9 and row 10 is 14418 (rounded) seconds.
Row 11: Is empty because there are no values to compare.
Example Table
TRADE_DATE --PRICE --TREND --permanently
02.01.13 11:21:42,720000000--11--UP--9801
02.01.13 12:44:03,236000000--12--DOWN--97346
02.01.13 14:05:03,845000000--11--DOWN--92485
[Code]....

Our database was generating archivelog(50MB) every 30seconds! I think this is not normal because what I did is open our database, I was the only one who is connected, I'm not running anything, but our database is still generating archivelogs!
Our redo logs: 6groups 3members.
This are the things I saw on our alert logs:
- advanced to log sequence
- cannot allocate new log, sequence
- checkpoint not complete
- private strand flush not complete
What I did is change the log mode of our database to noarchivelog then open the database, then returned it to archivelog mode then that fixed the problem. But the thing is after 6hours its abnormal behavior goes back again.

I'm trying to translate all of the interactive report messages, on Apex 4.2. I'm using this [
[URL].........
As a reference. I have several problems translating the help section of the interactive report. First of all, I can't seem to find all of the message names. The ones I couldn't find were:
Sets the number of records to display per page.(regarding displaying certain number of rows per page)
Format enable you to customize the display of the report. Format contains the following sub menu:
Sort
Control Break
Highlight
Compute
Aggregate
Chart
Group By(regarding format)
You can define one Group By report per saved report. Once defined, you can switch between the group by and report views using links below the Search bar. To create a Group By report, you select:
the columns on which to group (up to 3 columns can be selected)
the columns to aggregate along with the function to be performed (average, sum, count, etc.)
the columns to use for sorting (up to 3 columns can be selected along with direction and null sorting options)(regarding group by)
And secondly, I have translated this message
Select columns icon enables you to identify which column to search (or all).
Text area enables you to enter case insensitive search criteria (wild card characters are implied).
Go button executes the search.
Reports displays alternate default and saved private or public reports.
Actions Menu enables you to customize a report. See the sections that follow.using this message name:
APEXIR_HELP_SEARCH_BAR.
However, now I have two messages shown in that section: the original one, in English, and the translated one.

I'm using Apex 4.2.1 against Oracle 11gR2 and mod_plsql.create a date picker item that allows users to select seconds as well as hours and minutes.
I have searched this Forum and see that others have asked this question. The answers have all been "No". However, I've seen no such question since version 4.1 has been released, and so, am hoping there now is a way to do this.
I have adjusted the Date Format field to be "DD-Mon-YYYY HH24:MI:SS", both under the date picker item itself as well as under the "Global" parameters section of my application. All to no avail. The date picker shows only hours and minutes for the time portion.

I have installed Oracle server and SQL Server on separate machines which cause me a time delay of 21 seconds for each execution. Why executions delay? I have set RPC out (true).
Note: My main concern is either if the query is correct/incorrect it executes for 21 seconds._
Another case when I have both servers on the same machine it executes in milliseconds. I have tried Following methods in SQL SERVER.
*1, Using OPENQUERY:*
SELECT * From OPENQUERY(Linked Server Name,’Select * from OracleTableName ‘)
*2, Using Exec:*
DECLARE @sql NVARCHAR(MAX);
SET @sql =(’Select * from OracleTableName ‘);
EXEC (@sql) AT Linked Server Name ;
How to reduce the time delay caused for the execution?

Currently if i let required field empty, then APEX puts systematic error message "XXX must have some value." near the field and into the page header. I want to create custom business rule, that would show message for example "This action cannot be performed, because this and that...".
That kind of custom validation should be in my plSql package and somehow it should throw/send the phrase "This action cannot be performed, because this and that..." to the page header where was message "XXX must have some value.".
How can i create such custom error message to appear out using PlSql package function that i define myself? I plan to create a common validation package, which has lots of plsql functions to validate lot of APEX pages/forms, all those functions should throw/send somehow error messages to page header. I looked that this unofficial solution does not suit for me:
[URL].......
Because it disables APEX systematic automatic validations as i understand, and is unofficial.

I have a multimaster advance replication environment and we have less than 10 transaction per day...I want to propagate data as soon as possible like sync if I setup the schedule push to propagate transaction every 5 seconds as below
BEGIN
DBMS_DEFER_SYS.SCHEDULE_PUSH(
destination => 'orc2',
interval => 'SYSDATE + (5/60*60*24)',
next_date => SYSDATE,
parallelism => 1,
delay_seconds => 10);
END;
/
in other hand ,book(I mean Advance Replication) has written that for simulating continuous push we should setup it as below so it will propagate transaction every 1 minute.
My second question is:I know interval >= 'SYSDATE + (1/144)' means every 10 minutes a job will start and delay_seconds => 1200 means each job remain aware for 20 minutes, but I can't understand the logic?why it can simulate 1 minute propagation?
BEGIN
DBMS_DEFER_SYS.SCHEDULE_PUSH(
destination => 'orc2',
interval => 'SYSDATE + (1/144)',
next_date => SYSDATE,
parallelism => 1,
execution_second >= 1500,
delay_seconds => 1200);
END;
My thrid question is :Which of the above setups is a better solution for my environment?

I searched all over the internet but I can't seem to find a way.
Is there a way to delete all text messages? For example by using wwv_flow_api or any other way?
