View 7 RepliesI want to check if a user has execute previlege on ALIAS LIBRARY,is there any table in which i can check this
View 7 RepliesI type the following command to know what users have access to the database i'm currently connected to:
SQL> select *
2 from all_users
3 /
I know need to know what users are active or inactive. Is there a PL*SQL command for that ?
something like
exec package name.procedure ?
I've got Toad installed on my local machine, but for some reason editor windows won't allow me to execute SQL statements using the 'Execute as Script' option. Only the 'Execute Statement' option is available.
I can't see results from multiple queries at the same time.Tried doing a google search, and a search on here, I'm using Toad 9.7.2.5.
Is it possible to execute multiple sql files in one .bat file?for single sql file it is working properly.
.bat file
-------------------------------
sqlplus /nolog @ c: est01.sql
To keep things simple: lets say that this is my procedure:
create or replace procedure testSp(x out sys_refcursor )
is
begin
open x for
select 1 from dual;
end;
how would i be able to execute this from with in sqlTools to see the result ??? i have tried everything...
my goal is in the end to execute this from Magic 8 (to those who herd of it). p.s this needs to work in oracle 8
I want to ask for a password from the user so they can access their account, however I want the password to have constraints on it. For example I want the user input to between 6 and 12 characters in length containing at least one number and one letter.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to execute the procedure from toad, where the type is like an object.How can I do that?
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE list_t AS TABLE OF list_objtype;
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE list_objtype AS OBJECT
( Emp_ID NUMBER(5),
EMp_Name VARCHAR2(32 BYTE)
);
In the following procedure I am calling list_t, but how would i pass the values to it?
PROCEDURE modify_settings
( p_List in list_t,
p_info out varchar2)
DECLARE
p_List TABLE;
[code]...
I connect to an Oracle-10g database using OEM, and if I click to see the list of users, roles, storage options, ... everything is ok, but if I click to see the list of schemas, I get "1031: insufficient privileges" error.
The user account I use has the SELECT_ANY_DICTIONARY privilege and SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE role granted, and if I try to do "select * from dba_tables" in the SQL*Plus, I get a result.
The matter is even more strange because, if I use the SYSTEM account, I get the same error (!!!).
Do I need any other privilege/role to see the user's schemas with OEM?
I am trying to execute a STORE PROCEDURE from SQL*PLUS with no success:
SQL> execute PACKAGE.PROC(201011,'144792');
BEGIN PACKAGE.PROC(201011,'144792'); END;
*
ERROR at line 1:

In fact, when i do: desc PACKAGENAME . I see that the procedure is waiting for 3 parameters and one of them is a REF CURSOR type:
SQL> desc PACKAGENAME
PROCEDURE PROCEDURENAME
Argument Name Type In/Out Default?
------------------------------ ----------------------- ------ --------
PWEEK NUMBER IN
PCLIENT VARCHAR2 IN
CRESULTS REF CURSOR IN/OUT
After searching a bit, i try the following:
SQL> execute PACKAGE.NAME(201011,'144792','CRESULTS
'=>:C1);
SP2-0552: Bind variable "C1" not declared.
SQL>
This is a preview of the PACKAGE header:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PACKAGENAME
AUTHID CURRENT_USER
AS
--
TYPE CurTyp_Supp IS REF CURSOR;
--
TYPE TabTyp_Supp IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2 (10 BYTE);
--
TYPE ObjTyp_Prmt IS OBJECT (p_schemaname VARCHAR, p_filename VARCHAR);
--
PROCEDURE PROC(pWEEK NUMBER,
pCLIENT VARCHAR,
cResults IN OUT CurTyp_Supp);
This what the PACKAGE BODY looks like:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY PACKAGENAME
IS
PROCEDURE PROC (pWEEK NUMBER,
pCLIENT VARCHAR,
cResults IN OUT CurTyp_Supp)
QUESTION:
HOW DO I MANAGE TO EXECUTE THIS PROCEDURE FROM SQL*PLUS
how will i know if i have execute privilege on a package which is in user?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 users in my oracle DB. They both have very different privileges and they both have too many different privileges. Now I want to grant user 1 the same privilege that user2 has while user1 keeps his existing privilege. How can this be done without manually comparing their difference and manually grant user 1 each privilege that he doesn't have? Or second option, can I override user 1's privilege with user 2's privileges?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs we all know, privileges granted to a user through role are not visible from within a stored procedure. What is the reasoning behind this design?
Moreover, privileges granted through role are visible from anonymous PL/SQL block. Why such discrimination between anonymous PL/SQL and stored PL/SQL?
which are recommended Tool for load testing (for performance) on Oracle-J2EE, 3 Tier applications?
Is 'Oracle Application Test Suite' the best for such test where we can simulate numbers of users and their various actions?
Does it come with Oracle Database license or we have to buy it separately?
I'm looking for 3 simple things.
1) A reverse engineering tool that I can point to an Oracle schema and get a "baseline" script to re-create that schema from scratch, with decently formatted DDL files (1 per object) neatly organized in a directory tree (by object type) and called in the correct order. Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to populate (insert) those tables as part of the script.
2) a diff tool that I can point to a pair of Oracle instances (source and target) containing a given schema and get a "delta" script to alter the target schema so that it becomes identical to the source schema. If data loss occurs on the target instance (i.e. drop a column) I would like to find a warning comment inserted in the script (e.g. "-- Attention: data migration DML needed here?"). Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to update (delete, update and insert) the data in the target tables to become identical to the contents in the source tables *without* deleting and re-inserting all rows (or dropping, recreating and repopulating the table).
3) I would like the above two tools (that, as you will have recognized, are basic to putting your database design under version control) to be open-source, with a command-line interface and a vibrant community backing them.
My requirement is to disable access of sys user from all clients even they are providing correct password.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that this connection errors when I try to connect using my SQuirreL client. My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.

can we use oracle client version to create a database in that server.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have CPU based Oracle server license. In this case as per license policies of Oracle I can have unlimited database with unlimited users connecting it.
I need to create as many as 100 database with upto 100 users (max) for each database as client. What is the recommended hardware for this server? CPU/ RAM/Harddisk, recommended chipset on the motherboard (in case of database storage capacity required is not high typically - 20 GB is OK per database - average), redundancy is critical, also Oracle database vault is going to be installed; as security is of prime importance between users of different database. Which specific server models from specific vendors like IBM/ Dell/ HP are good ones for this purpose?
