Security :: Audit Specific Statement On Specific Table By Specific User?
May 29, 2012I'd like to know if it is possible to track DML actions issued on a specific table by a specific user, for example , i tried :
AUDIT SELECT on SCOTT.DEPT by HR by ACCESS;
I get an error, where is my syntax error ?
i want to know if it's possible to do it without trigger ?
Capture Login Of Terminal In Audit Trail When Login Through Grid?
May 15, 2013I am trying to understand how to enable some audit so we can capture OEM logins as well.
Here is my setup. Lets say my DB that i am auditing is called audit_db (audit trail set to DB) sitting on host called host_db. and we have grid control agent on this box.now my grid control is as this. Lets say my OMS and repository is on host called OMS_host.
we run query aginst dba_audit_session to get info as to who tried failed login attemps and stuff.
Now to the part that is not working.
-- this is the good part When i intentionaly login to the audit_db with sqlplus client from my laptop with wrong username/password that is captured. we get the username,os_username,userhost,terminal.
here is the sample output
username is the wrong user that i tried to login as
os_username is the my local username(ad account)
userhost is my_laptop_name
terminal is laptop_name
from above we can figure who was trying to login(failed).
-- this is the bad part But lets say i try to login to audit_db through grid control and use wrong username/password.that gets captured too(but not all of it). we get the username,os_username,userhost,terminal.
here is the sample output
username is the wrong user that i tried to login as
os_username is the user of OMS repository db(oracle)
userhost is oms_host
terminal is unknown
Now with the above info, we cannot figure out who tried to login with bad login credential.

Dec 11, 2009We are using erwin to generate Er diagram.But with that tool unable to generate the ERD for specific object.Or suggest any other tool from which i can generate the ERD of specific object.
i.e. Lets take an example.
I have a table with one primary key and 10 foreign keys. So now if i select the main table the tool should draw the ERD based on the Constraints ('P' and 'R') so all the different table which have the relation those table should only display. Right now we are getting all the tables ERD(more than 1500 tables) which is not neccesary.
Client Tools :: Oracle / Crystal Reports On Windows 7 64Bit Machine?
Feb 1, 2011I recently got a new PC at work which is Windows 7 64 bit.
We run lots of crystal reports(1000's) that pull data from an oracle back end.
I have installed the Oracle Client 32 bit on this machine and have no problem connecting to the database and pulling back data.
However, when I use crystal to access the TNS Name it gives me the following error.

My path variable on the PC has "C:oracleproduct10.2.0client_1BIN;".
I also tried to create and ODBC using the 32bit ODBC on the machine and that connects fine, but when you try to access the DSN from Crystal, I still get the 12154 error.

I have a variable called createddatetime . I want that whenever i should run the database it should display records from
Yesterday 06:00:00 am to Current Date 05:59:59 am
Now to implement this i tried to put this syntax
and to_char(Createddatetime,'dd/mm/yyyy HH24:mi:ss') between 'sysdate-1 06:00:00' and 'sysdate 05:59:59'
But nothing comes up
where as definitely there are records between times because when i do and Createddatetime between sysdate-1 and sysdate I see valid records coming up.

Feb 1, 2013in my java web app running on Weblogic which uses connection pooling, I am calling an Oracle Stored Proc that sets client identifier to userid using dbms_session.set_identifier
I then retrieve it in triggers attached to db tables to capture before-after image
I must have missed a step because this is what I find (testing locally):
1. I login to my app as USER1 and update some data
2. I check the audit tables and sure enough last_updated_by is set to USER1
3. Without logging out, I start a different browser (Firefox, in step 1 I used Chrome) and login as USER2
4. I now switch to USER1 session in Chrome browser (still logged in as USER1) and update some data
5. This time I see that the audit tables show last_updated_by as USER2 (instead of USER1)

May 9, 2013I want to start by saying I am brand new to SQL. I have an access database linked to my oracle and am trying to query a very specific set of data and I can't seem to narroe it down. I have 244,000 lines in the DB and I'm trying to find items on a specific trype of vendor agreement. I may have the same item on multiple agreements. ex 1-, 1a-, 2-,2a-,3-,3a-,4-,4a-,5-,5a-,6-,6a-,7-,7a-,8-,8a-.
each item by agreement is on it's own line.
ex.
item ven_agrmt_ref
233 1a-xxx
233 4-xxx
233 4a-xxx
255 4a-xxx
I need to find a way to select just items that appear on a 4- or 4a- and no other agreement reference. The query I did so far pulls all of the 4- and 4a- agreements but will also pull items,like #233 in the example above, but not showing the 1a- agreement. I need it to overlook that item eventhough it does appear on the agreement I am looking for but also has an agreement I am not. the statement I am using right now is:
SELECT item, ven_item, ven_agrmt_ref, base_cost, vendor
FROM "all items by agreement"
WHERE ven_agrmt_ref >= '4'

Not Able To Connect From Client Machine
Dec 23, 2010I have installed oracle 10g on Red Hat Linux and I am able to connect as well.The listener and DB is up and running and I am able to coonect as well from the server.
But I have installed the oracle client (TOAD) on some windows machine and from there I am not able to connect . I am directly connecting by giving IP and other details and using TNS as well but I am not able to connect from client machine. I am getting ORA 12170 - TNS timeout error.

Feb 14, 2012I have for example two text items(number of records to display is set to 9). What I want is when i go to studentprofile block, it should automatically shows his subjects that are already taken up. the first text item is for 1st semester subjects and the other for 2nd semester.
here is the structure of my subjsec table:

and for subjects table:
subj_code varchar2(10)
description varchar2(50)

I restricted subjects that are in 1st sem. So i did something like this in my

Aug 26, 2011I'm looking for 3 simple things.
1) A reverse engineering tool that I can point to an Oracle schema and get a "baseline" script to re-create that schema from scratch, with decently formatted DDL files (1 per object) neatly organized in a directory tree (by object type) and called in the correct order. Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to populate (insert) those tables as part of the script.
2) a diff tool that I can point to a pair of Oracle instances (source and target) containing a given schema and get a "delta" script to alter the target schema so that it becomes identical to the source schema. If data loss occurs on the target instance (i.e. drop a column) I would like to find a warning comment inserted in the script (e.g. "-- Attention: data migration DML needed here?"). Icing on the cake would be an option to pass the tool a list of tables containing static data and get DMLs to update (delete, update and insert) the data in the target tables to become identical to the contents in the source tables *without* deleting and re-inserting all rows (or dropping, recreating and repopulating the table).
3) I would like the above two tools (that, as you will have recognized, are basic to putting your database design under version control) to be open-source, with a command-line interface and a vibrant community backing them.

May 30, 2012I want to read all the files present in a directory of client's machine.
However I have achieved this by creating java class in database but the problem is it accesses the directory of machine on which database is installed not the client's machine.
I have oracle client and I tried to access local directory of client's machine to read all the files in that directory but it didn't work.
However, I achieved this by creating one java class for ex. test.class and I run it locally through command prompt but I want to achieve it using Pl-sql.

Feb 21, 2013The problem is that this connection errors when I try to connect using my SQuirreL client. My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.

# SID is sting2
# SERVICE_NAME is sting2.na.sas.com

Dec 11, 2012I have new virtual UNIX machine and I installed oracle client on /usr/lib/oracle. Also I have a oracle database and I am able to connect to this database from my desktop sql developer.
So now I am trying to connect from new UNIX machine. Where I created tnsnames.ora file under /usr/lib/oracle/network/admin and before connecting did export the following

export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib

when I try

ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist. Not sure what I missed here. using same tns file I am able to connect from sql developer on windows.
