There are 4 nodes in a RAC environment A,B,C,D..For instance i want to disable all the services for node D temporarily and hand over the Node D to the system admin guys and after the maintainance is done I want to restart the services again on node D..
View 1 RepliesI have installed Oracle 10g RAC crs and asm on CentOS release 5.4. When I am rebooting the nodes and starting crs manually All the services on both nodes starting successfully.

for example: i have 10 services on node 4. All went to node 1.i want 3 on node1, 3 on node2, 4 node3 .
Restarting oracle services through services.msc is faster then manual (In command prompt).
Even If we have heavy transaction on the oracle database But we can restart the database within minutes by using services.msc But It will take more time in command prompt(sql>shu immediate). So shall we assume here that services.msc is using shut abort command while restarting the database?
I'm not a DBA, nor do i play one on TV.
Is there a way to only temporarily lock an account after so many bad logins? I'm being told by my DBA that there is not, and I'm just shocked that Oracle wouldn't build in that functionality.
I have a Data entry form which is a multirecord block;
Question: for example that form has 10 to 25 fields or columns more than that all the data has been entered, but before committing or saving that form i need to cross check the the data with a select query, whether the data entered is correct or not but before committing, that data it should be posted into that table if i find that one data is entered wrongly then i will modify that and again cross check and save the transaction permanently into the database table?

we shutdown vmorarac1 to clone it to vmorarac5
on new node I have changed the hostname to vmorarac5 In /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 change ip to new ip and same for /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 152.144.199.210,152.144.199.211
mad echanges to /etc/hosts on vmorarac1/2 for 2 new IP address assigned to vmorarac5

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am installing Oracle 10g Clusterware in RHEL 5 Server. When i run root.sh in the second node the last step Running vipca(silent) for configuring nodeapps failed. Then i run VIPCA manually in second node and configured vip configuration successfully,but when i checked the post-checks for cluster services the Checking existence of VIP node application,Checking existence of ONS node application and Checking existence of GSD node application in second node failed. I am able to ping both the servers one another with vip name successfully and the CSS,CRS and EVM appears healthy in both nodes. 1. Does the vip configuration is proper? If no what is causing this error and how to rectify it? Find the output below

I'm trying to add the third node to my existing two node cluster. In fact i succeded adding the node but i have the following problem:
-when i start node 1 and 2, everything is ok, but on node 3 startup one of the other nodes fails
-this happens in any combination: start 1 and 3, everything is ok. when i start node 2, node 3 fails
The asm configuration (disks, permissions, etc) is the same on all three nodes.find below the asm and crsd log details from the failure time:

Is there a way to temporarily "turn off" an APEX application so users cannot access it? It would be handy to do this while upgrading a Production instance so to avoid users attempting to make changes while the app is being updated.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 10g 2 node cluster running on Linux OS (redhat 4). Oracle version is 10.2.0.5.0. The problem is when the CRS get start all the services are online but when i try to connect DB, its connecting to idle instance. When I check the details the backgroundprocesses all get started but instance not started. Later i stopped the background processes and start the instance manually using sqlplus, the DB instance started and I can connect. But when i check the crs service status (crs_stat -t), the instance and service status are offline, nodeapps services are online. When i try to restart (crs_start) it throws up error.

some time After the service failed over to the other node I got connection issues for this service. I relocated the service and the issues went away. Why did it not relocate the service back to the preferred node when these issues were encountered?

View 8 Replies View RelatedWe have a new requirement for a RAC environment. Its workload will comprise both OLTP and batch loads. Am I right in thinking that I can map the appropriate applications to the required node using services, e.g.
Application 1 (OLTP) has node 1 as its preferred service node - so all OLTP trxs run through node 1
Application 2 (Batch) has node 2 as its preferred service node - so all batch trxs run through node 2
Both applications will have the other node for its available service to facilitate HA in an emergency.
Does that sound right? (or have I got it completely wrong!)

I have download and installed the trial version of oracle 11g enterprise on windows 2008 r2 in vmware workstation. I couldn't see the database control in start up as my destination path c:oracleyourdatabaselocationdboc4jj2eeoc4j_DBConsole though I tried to open manually https://<localhost, ipaddress, domainname>:1158/em but its failed to open.
