Cluvfy - Verify Node Connectivity?

I get the following output for node connectivity check as part of pre clusterware installation checks.oracle@cps-oracle-1.homer.com% runcluvfy.sh comp nodecon -n cps-oracle-1,cps-oracle-2 -verbose

Verification of node connectivity was unsuccessful on all the nodes.
The above output i get for node connectivity component check. I pinged each public and private interface on node and found them to be working.The CRS is for Oracle10Gr2.

current environment
Oracle VM 2 Node RAC cluster
Oracle 11G 11.2.0.3.0
Oracle 11g rel 2 GI
on current 2 node cluster we have GI and RAC db configured Nodes: vmorarac1,vmorarac2
we shutdown vmorarac1 to clone it to vmorarac5
on new node I have changed the hostname to vmorarac5 In /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 change ip to new ip and same for /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 152.144.199.210,152.144.199.211
mad echanges to /etc/hosts on vmorarac1/2 for 2 new IP address assigned to vmorarac5
152.144.199.171 vmorarac1.pbi.global.pvt vmorarac1
192.168.2.30 vmorarac1-priv.pbi.global.pvt vmorarac1-priv
152.144.199.184 vmorarac1-vip.pbi.global.pvt vmorarac1-vip

Query is is that all ok to reboot the new node to reflect changes as below and change the hostname to vmorarac2

hostname change in /etc/sysconfig/network
On new node vmorarac5, there is alreay software for RAC DB and GUI cloned from vmorarac1
addnode.sh is used to add existing node, but as part of pre-requisite configuratoin is there any config step missing

I believe, in a multiple RAC Physical Standby nodes only one node applies the archivelogs to the standby database. How you can find which node is the APPLY NODE using a SQL query?
I know you can veiw this information by querying the standby configuration using DGMGRL but how would you find out this information from a remote client using SQLPlus/PLSQL?

I am installing Oracle 10g Clusterware in RHEL 5 Server. When i run root.sh in the second node the last step Running vipca(silent) for configuring nodeapps failed. Then i run VIPCA manually in second node and configured vip configuration successfully,but when i checked the post-checks for cluster services the Checking existence of VIP node application,Checking existence of ONS node application and Checking existence of GSD node application in second node failed. I am able to ping both the servers one another with vip name successfully and the CSS,CRS and EVM appears healthy in both nodes. 1. Does the vip configuration is proper? If no what is causing this error and how to rectify it? Find the output below

I would like get more details about single node RAC.. What is single Node RAC?..
1). just configure only one server instead of two node... same RAC installation.. cluster installation and shared disk configuration in single server itself.. in future we can add node to this ...
2). in 11gR2 having new feature Single Node RAC.. Multiple instances running on same node and configure using Cluster...
is there any advantage using single node rac(other than online upgrade to full RAC).

From a list of values from a number column, I need to verify is there any values not satisfying number(3).
Ex- I have a column col1 where we have following values
'qwq'
'12.3'
'1'
'15'
Can I write a query to check the value not satisfying number(3) datatype.Eg the query should return
'qwq'
'12.3'
as the above two will not fit in to number(3) datatype columns

I'm trying to add the third node to my existing two node cluster. In fact i succeded adding the node but i have the following problem:
-when i start node 1 and 2, everything is ok, but on node 3 startup one of the other nodes fails
-this happens in any combination: start 1 and 3, everything is ok. when i start node 2, node 3 fails
The asm configuration (disks, permissions, etc) is the same on all three nodes.find below the asm and crsd log details from the failure time:

I've created a password verification function (verify_pwd) in a schema which is not in SYS, but an equivalent of SYS. However, the problem arises when I'm trying to create a profie (MAIN_PROFILE) with the following attributes :
CREATE PROFILE MAIN_PROFILE LIMIT
PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME 90
PASSWORD_VERIFY_FUNCTION verify_pwd;
The above script is resulting in an error.
ORA-02376 : invalid or redundant resource...Can I create the function verify_pwd not in the schema SYS but instead in a schema equivalent to SYS?

I have a staging table with 70 million rows and nearly 90 columns. We just want to verify and perform some validations on the data and then move this data to final tables. There staging table has a primary key in it.
We are planning to create the final table in following ways.
1. Create n number of final tables.
2. Create n number of final tables with partitions based on the primary key value in staging table.
3. Create single final table with partition based on the primary key value staging table.

In the link below [URL] Thomas kyte has said, use the CBO and select /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ primary_key from table where rownum = 1; it'll read the index and stop at the first row. very fast on a big empty table (as the index is small and empty).
very fast on a big full table as the index is just read to find the first leaf node and then "stop".
It gives faster result if the primary key is used. But what if we have a table with around 1000 million rows and for the predicates there is a index range scan on the table.
What if we have a table say big_table (10000000000 rows) and the sql is something like
select /*+ first_rows */ 1 /* id, attribute_id*/
from big_table
where attribute_name ='Gross Premium'
and value ='10000'
and version_date is null
and rownum=1; --it's taking around 3 min
We observed that in such case there will be a range index scan for the index on the predicates. For a particular id there may be different values for attribute 'Gross Premium' and may have multiple versions.
How I would tune such a query where the purpose is to check if at least 1 records exists in the table for the input?

What are the steps required to change an ORACLE stored procedure (on a AIX/UNIX machine) using OTG to connect to a DB2 database, to an ORACLE stored procedure that uses ODBC or JDBC connectivity?
All I need to do in the stored procedure is a simple insert statement into a DB2 table.
What kind of ODBC/JDBC driver do I need on the UNIX machine? unixODBC?
What would be different in the ORACLE stored procedure for it to use ODBC connectivity rather than OTG.

I am currently using Oracle 10.2.0.1 version, in a single PC (test server) and MS-Access (2003) in it.
I was trying to use the logic of HS ODBC connectivity, but when i try to select the table from the MS-Access i am getting the following error.
"ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified".
to create the successful connection between the MS-ACCESS and ORACLE. I just need to read some data from MS-ACCESS on a monthly base from a particular table.

we have a database available in UNIX machine A which can be connected from client in UNIX machine B through port 1521.
If we give ping command from UNIX machine A to B or B to A, 0% packet loss, means connection established properly through firewall in port 1521.
Now we are setup one more UNIX machine C and installed a client here. This machine is available in different group, means if i give ping command from machine C to A, 100% packet loss. But from machine A to C, connection established with 0% packet loss.Because of this, when we tried to connect to a database from client in Machine C to database in Machine A, we got "time out" error.
My query is:
1. Is this because of not opening of port 1521 through firewall?
2. If so, is it enough to open port 1521 through firewall when we connect from machine C to A?
3. Any additional setup is required in firewall apart from opening of ports?
Environment:
Oracle 11.2.0.3
UNIX AIX 5.3/6.1
