I'm trying to install oracle 11G at my windows XP platform. This shows error.
1) Is 11G not supporting with XP. Is it only supports to windows 7?
2) At the installation, it prompt me for either FILE SYSTEM or AUTOMATIC STORAGE MANAGEMENT. What is the difference, which one should I select for practicing.
3) Which edition is better to practice and to have morethings available (in terms of having advanced options as same as production DB have)
4) Can't we install RAC on my desktop?
5) Can I choose SERVER CLASS instead of DESKTOP CLASS?
We have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment. We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.
We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: javaw.exe
Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .

How I can get the heavy weight (Java) oem db console installed on my Windows XP desktop?
I used to have a 9i oem console before. But after reinstaling the OS on my laptop, I don't rememeber how I got the oem Java console installed in the first place.
I have a 10.2.0.1 db installed and web based oem console access to that db. But I want to be able to connect to other remote databases using the java console and manage/monitor the remote databases, like I used to before.

I have got an unattended install (via the Oracle provided response file) working fine for Oracle Client 8.1.7, however the setup isn't working quite as I would like it...
I am calling the setup.exe with appropriate switches for the response file from a DOS Batch file. Once setup.exe has been called, the batch file then assumes it has finished its job with the Oracle setup, and continues processing as normal, however the Oracle setup has only just started.
command line switch to add on the end of setup.exe to make sure that the batch file pauses until the Oracle client installation has completed? Just using Sleep.exe from the Windows Res Kits isn't really good enough, as I don't want to be guessing how long an Oracle install takes - I'd much rather have the setup.exe tell the batch file when it has finished, so the Batch can carry on.
I am trying to install Oracle 11g R2 on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. When I execute setup.exe as Administrator the command window flashes and exits. I could not even see what the message is. Also tried command prompt.
I am new to this forum. I want to install XE 11g Release 2 in windows 7 64 bit. Can I intall 'Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 for Windows x32' or is there is 64bit version?
I have an Oracle server with Oracle 11g R2 and need to install its clients over several desktops.I am using 2 separate installs, but I think that this might be redundant. The 2 setups I'm using are:
- ODAC 11.2 Release 3 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (11.2.0.2.1) - 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) Downloads
- Is really necessary to install both of the 2 setup, or there is something I can use once instead of it?
I installed the Windows 7 64-bit ODBC drivers, but the install does not seem to have made the drivers available to all users, but rather only the installing user. This install is for an image that will be cloned as a virtual machine, so the drivers, client, settings, etc. will need to be available to anyone who logs in.
Is there a way to do the install so that all the settings and files put in by the installer will apply to all users? And if so, how do you do that?
With just the ip address available, how to install the oracle 11g software on windows 7? What are the access I will need in order to Install the oracle 11g software and create the oracle 11g database on windows 7?

I need to install Oracle 10g in windows 7 home premium which version of oracle 10g will work better with Windows 7 home premium. I need to download «& install.
I have Oracle 11g database home in my 64 bit Windows 7 machine. However, now i would like to install Oracle 10.2.0 client as well. I tried giving a separate location.
But for some reason, whenever i start the Setup and run the Administrator Type, the installation just skips without giving any errors. It just creates the inventory folder in the specified path. It goes to the Product-Specific Prerequisite Checks and exits without giving any warnings or errors.
