creating a text index using the section group parameter? The problem that I am having is when I create my text index and perform a query using Score, I do not get the correct results back.
select score(1) from mybaby where contains(name,'Mommy',1)>0;
I am on Oracle 11.2.0.3 on Linux and have implemented Oracle Text.I created Oracle Text indexes with default setting. However in an oracle white paper I read that the default setting may not be right. Here is the excerpt from the white paper by Roger Ford:URL....(Part of this white paper below....)Index Memory.
As mentioned above, cached $I entries are flushed to disk each time the indexing memory is exhausted. The default index memory at installation is a mere 12MB, which is very low. Users can specify up to 50MB at index creation time, but this is still pretty low. This would be done by a CREATE INDEX statement something like: CREATE INDEX myindex ON mytable(mycol) INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.context PARAMETERS ('index memory 50M'); Allow index memory settings above 50MB, the CTXSYS user must first increase the value of the MAX_INDEX_MEMORY parameter, like this: begin ctx_ adm. set_ parameter('max_index_memory', '500M'); end; The setting for index memory should never be so high as to cause paging, as this will have a serious effect on indexing speed. On smaller dedicated systems, it is sometimes advantageous to temporarily decrease the amount of memory consumed by the Oracle SGA (for example by decreasing DB_CACHE_SIZE and/or SHARED_POOL_SIZE) during the index creation process.
Once the index has been created, the SGA size can be increased again to improve query performance." (End here from the white paper excerpt)My question is:
1) To apply this procedure (ctx_adm.set_parameter) required me to login as CTXSYS user. Is that right? or can it be avoided and be done from the application schema? This user CTXSYS is locked by default and I had to unlock it. Is that ok to do in production?
2) What is the value that I should use for the max_index_memory should it be 500 mb - my SGA is 2 GB in Dev/ QA and 3GB in production. Also in the index creation what is the value I should set for index memory parameter - I had left that at default but how should I change now? Should it be 50MB as shown in example above?
3) The white paper also refer to rebuilding an index at some interval like once in a month: ALTER INDEX DR$index_name$X REBUILD ONLINE; We are on Oracle 11g and the white paper was written in 2003.
I'm new to Oracle Text. I want to implement search for the unique ids. Like google search when the user start typing 123 it need to brings anything starting with 123 and has show like entries how google will shows. When I add number 4 to like 1234 then it has bring numbers starting with 1234.
I am new to the forum as well as SQL programing and I need to have the following criteria writen in my WHERE so all three of these criterias are included in the same report (perhaps, each will have its own section).
But RECORDTIMESTAMP data looks like '4/8/2009 5:48:00.000000 PM' I would like to supress 3 zeros in milli seconds section.( 3 more zero in milli seconds section)
How a truncate command comes under DDL section, instead DML. All the operations happening inside the object is called DML and ON the object is called DDL.
I am able to duplicate (from active database) 12.1.0.1 database to destination server successfully,however when I add either compressed backupset and/or section size to duplicate commandrecovery at the end of the operation fails due to missing archive log (which is at source server)

I have test in the main section of the layout in forms. I want to print the footer on the first page only. If I go to properties and select print object on first page, it still prints the footer in all pages. How can I force the footer on the first page only.
I have a problem here.Normally, we use &p_where inside a sql script in condition sectione.g : select name from member where name like 'a%' &p_where order by name;
may i use this kind of parameter in table section?e.g : select name from &p_table where name like 'a%' and status = 'a' order by name;
the reason i need to do is there are 2 different server. but i need retrieve same info.server ABC have table A but don't have table B and server DEF have table B but don't have table A.
I am getting some odd results from a Database Insert Function. The function receives an Array of elements. The elements are a defined structure (containing around 21 data items). I need to insert these records into an Oracle table.For each element of the Array the function reads the structure into a local c structure of the same type.
I then go through this local structure and get a copy of the data into local variables declared in the EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION of the function. I then use the local vars to do the insert, using null INDICATOR variable to handle those variables that could be empty. The local variables look like this....
EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION; int dbServiceTypeId; int dbRecordType; char dbRbmCustRef[MAX_CUST_REF_LEN]; int dbServiceSeq;
[code]...
BUT.. when I uncomment the dbCOS variable (even though I don't populate it or try to include it in the insert) I get the following in the table (The RATE value goes missing completely and the multiplier is wrong)...
ID SERVICE CODE R/T RATE MULTI 41325-SCODE-1084 1 542139762 11326-SCODE-1086 1 542139762 11326-SCODE-1086 2 542139762 21327-SCODE-1087 1 542139762 21327-SCODE-1087 2 542139762 21327-SCODE-1087 3 542139762 21327-SCODE-1087 3 542139762
However, a printf statement just before the insert based that returns the variables shows the following...
Service Type ID: '4' Record Type ID: '1' Service Cust Ref: '1325-SCODE-1084' Service Unit Rate: '1200.00'
Indeed, for this record the Multiplier doesn't even get populated. The other odd thing is if I recomment the dbCOS but remove the dbOraDateFmt variable definitions, it corrupts the data again, though different fields. I can't understand why individual local variables are behaving this way. Is this a problem with the way variables are declared in this section?
i have generate a report using report wizard but i want to know how join main section and head section , what ever you do in report wizard impact in main section ,i have done some head section ,when i run report, head section run first and main section in next page .. how to join both sections in single page output..
I'm trying to group sets of data based on time separations between records and then count how many records are in each group.
In the example below, I want to return the count for each group of data, so Group 1=5, Group 2=5 and Group 3=5
SELECT AREA_ID AS "AREA ID", LOC_ID AS "LOCATION ID", TEST_DATE AS "DATE", TEST_TIME AS "TIME" FROM MON_TEST_MASTER WHERE AREA_ID =89 AND LOC_ID ='3015' AND TEST_DATE ='10/19/1994';
[code]....
Group 1 = 8:00:22 to 8:41:22
Group 2 = 11:35:47 to 11:35:47
Group 3 = 15:13:46 to 15:13:46
Keep in mind the times will always change, and sometime go over the one hour mark, but no group will have more then a one hour separation between records.
I have dynamic header in my rtf file. I have section break on start group of body. but it does not display dynamic header value. If i remove section break then it display dynamic header.
I have to display dynamic header and section break is also required there.
We have built an interactive report based on dynamic query. Normally, all the selected columns are shown in "Display" Section of the interactive report. We have a requirement to move some of the columns to the "Do not Display" when the search is done. Is it possible to do it programmatically ?
I read that rownum is applied after the selection is made and before "order by". So, in order to get the sum of salaries for all employees in all departments with a row number starting from 1, i wrote :
select ROWNUM,department_id,sum(salary) from employees group by department_id
If i remove rownum, it gives the correct output. Why can't rownum be used here ?
Have got basic form on a table and have a textarea which holds Notes added by user.
So Notes database field is updated on Save / Apply changes button being pressed.But would really like any text added / appended to the Notes field to be prefixed by userid and date / timestamp.
Is it possible via dynamic actions or Javascript to have any new text added / typed to be auto prefixed as per above.
Would only want the first key press in the filed to trigger the auto-prefix and if added text was deleted then the auto prefix to be deleted as well ?? If user doesn't press Save / Apply changes obviously want to leave existing Notes as is.
I have a requirement in one of my forms screen.I have a text box(large text area) which should display a help text file when i move my cursor on the topics displayed on the screen.know the code and the properties to be changed in the text box to accommodate large external file text.
Before I install the Oracle database 11.2.0.1 in Linux server 2.6.39-400.209.1.el6uek.x86_64, I created the following groups
oinstall, dba, oper, and asmadmin. groupadd oinstall # required from training groupadd dba # required from training groupadd oper # and group asmdba, asmoper from training groupadd asmadmin #
optional from training I made a mistake when I created Oracle user account. I created it with dba as initial group“ useradd -g dba -G oinstall,oper,asmadmin oracle”, instead of “useradd -g oinstall -G dba,oper,asmadmin oracle” After all I installed Oracle database, now I have concerns and questions. Should I use user mod to update the Oracle user account to install as initial group or just leave it alone? If I now do “usermod –g oinstall –G dba,oper,asmadmin oracle”, will it break anything, any impact to the database?
I need to modify the procedure to read all the lines of a text. Actually in my table there is a personnel number column with duplicates and a TEXT column.I need to create a procedure to read all the text per personnel number and insert it into a another table.The below code is the procedure which is reading the two lines of text field. How can I modify it to read all the text per personnel number.
create PROCEDURE hr_load_restict_text_proc as CURSOR cur_hr_restrict IS SELECT personnel_number, line FROM hr_restriction_text_temp [code].......
How to write to text file using oracle? And how do I handle spaces/next line? (i was trying to use spaces(ch(32)), however it is just converted into squares in the text file.)
